Getting ready to head to Virginia Landing for the third year in a row. The first week is our annual girl's trip and the second week is for me and my husband. This is THE place to go to unplug and get away from everything. At our age (50+), we don't want the pool and all the 'kid' activities. We want peace and quiet, with great views - and that's exactly what we get. Granted the showers really need upgraded, as does the laundry area, but we can deal with that. We love walking the dogs around, especially down to the piers to watch the sunset.

My daughters and myself stayed at this quiet little campsite. We stayed in the cabin. The outside cabin needs some tlc,but for the price we paid for 7 days it was very worth it. Inside had 2 queen beds and a futon. Kitchen fully equipped. Tables and chairs. Cabin was clean. The views in the back are beautiful. Staff is friendly and Doug the manger was awesome. Cape Charles is an easy 30 minute drive for beach and ocean swimming. Great for families with little children or anyone who doesn’t like a big crowd or the waves. I will be coming back to this place

This campground is in desperate need of some updates. It is an enormous space with lovely natural aesthetic, but between bumpy roads, an out of service pool, limited full hook up site availability, abandoned mini-golf, and a number of poorly up kept buildings scattered around the property, it felt like a place that has seen limited to no investment in a number of years. Finally, the access roads are narrow and for as far off the highway it is, it really adds to the time for short term campers who are passing through like we were.Outside of those complaints, the space itself is nice, the sites are spaced reasonably, and the longer term campers seemed friendly. Plenty of nature all around. Bathhouses we're in fine shape.Nearby activities: Highly limited due to its remote location.

During my recent stay at Virginia Landing RV Park, I encountered several disappointments that led to an underwhelming experience. While the park had some positive aspects, there were significant drawbacks that affected our overall enjoyment.First and foremost, upon arrival, we were met with instructions and our welcome packet in the mailbox, which gave the impression that the check-in process was impersonal and lacking in personal interaction. The park operates on a first-come, first-serve basis, and unfortunately, there were no sewer sites available during our stay. This limitation was frustrating and inconvenient, as it restricted our ability to fully utilize our RV's facilities. To make matters worse, the park seemed sparsely populated, with very few people present during our visit. Most of the occupants appeared to be long-term residents, giving the park a predominantly local and less transient atmosphere. This made it difficult to connect with other campers and resulted in a lack of a vibrant and inclusive community feel. Our experience with our neighbors was particularly unpleasant. Upon pulling into our site, we were approached by individuals who were playing loud music and drinking. They suggested we move our site, and although we obliged their request to distance ourselves from their disruptive behavior, we later discovered that they simply wanted us to relocate closer to their friends. This made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, as they stared at us and our children throughout the week. The situation was strange and detracted from the peaceful atmosphere we had hoped for during our stay.Furthermore, we experienced significant issues with the park's utilities. The water pressure was consistently low, which made basic tasks such as showering and doing dishes quite challenging. Additionally, there were reports of leaking water connections, further diminishing the overall functionality and comfort of the RV sites. It was disappointing to encounter broken electric and water connections at some sites, which hindered the convenience and reliability of our stay.On a positive note, I must acknowledge the friendly staff at Virginia Landing RV Park. They were accommodating and provided assistance when needed, creating a pleasant interaction. I believe that our negative experience with the neighbors was an isolated incident and not reflective of the entire staff or the park as a whole. In terms of amenities, the park offers a giant field for kids and dogs to play, including a soccer field and other open areas. This is a positive aspect for families looking for recreational opportunities. However, the location of the dump station at the back of a field next to the bathrooms proved to be inconvenient for larger rigs, making the process of emptying waste tanks more challenging than necessary. In conclusion, my experience at Virginia Landing RV Park was disappointing and fell short of my expectations. The lack of available sewer sites, the predominantly local population, disruptive neighbors, and issues with water pressure, leaks, and broken utilities hindered our stay. Although the staff was friendly and the park offered some recreational spaces, the drawbacks mentioned above overshadowed these positives. I hope that the management takes steps to address these issues promptly, as it has the potential to improve the overall experience for future campers.

Great campground on the coast. Most of the spots are 30amp+water some 50amp+water and only a few full hook ups. Lots of tent sites.Tons of open fields, great views of nature and wildlife. No real beach access but still lots of fun.

Man, talk about serenity. Upon arrival I was a bit disappointed. No pool, nothing to really do but play sports. BUT, isn't camping supposed to unplug you. Reconnecting with nature?! This is the place! Geese, deer, foxes, crabs galore! Breath taking views. Right on the bay, sea breeze, open sky!! I fell in love with this place personally. 😍

Peaceful and natural. When we parked and stepped out, the smell of the sea air and wide open view made us smile. Jeanie, the manager was super friendly and accommodating. The drive of the hwy in Painter to the cg os about 12-14 miles, its very scenic but a little long. We had a water site 50 amp/ water w/o sewer, there's a dump station. It was level grassy and firm, we travel in a 44' Class A w toad and it was easy to back in. The cement patio was aged but clean, we noticed some of the others were cracked. Sunrises were extraordinary, we got up every morning to watch and record them!!! The sunset cast beautiful on the water from behind us too. The grounds were kept mowed and yes were trimmed. Note: If weather calls for rain use caution as it does flood and get muddy. We had rain...a couple inches in 12 hours. We were surrounded by standing water on 2 sides for a few days before it started to subside. Our patio remained dry! Since we were large we could roll slowly and really get right out. Restrooms/ showers were fine, didn't use laundry room. We wouldn't have stayed had we been traveling with kids. We stayed for a week and so enjoyed the setting. It was fun to check out the sand crabs but there's no beach to walk on or place to swim if that's important to you. We found no points of interest and nothing touristy at all to do in the area, the drive for a restaurant was 25-30min and nothing special... grill or cook!!! We would definitely come back for the beautiful area here on the water! It suits us perfectly!!!

We stayed 6 days. The gnats were awful the whole time. A lot of the amenities that are listed in the Thousand Trails guide book for campgrounds were not available and haven't been for a long time.Nearby activities: If you want to drive about 20 plus miles to get anywhere.

We went for our anniversary to get some peace and quiet. The view was beautiful, loved the cabin, can't wait to bring my kids and family down. Honestly one of the best spots to camp or rent a cabin and just let the stress disappear. I haven't been that relaxed in a long time. Thank you for the beautiful trip.

This place is AMAZING! From the moment of arrival the staff was beyond great. The office was closed upon arrival so I called Christine she explained everything to us and was so kind. There was sewer hookup available but after seeing the breathe taking view and HUGE sites we chose a water electric site. Yes the pool was closed yes the golf was hard to play however you could rent clam rakes and go clamming. We found 4 beautiful conch shells and 30 clams. This place isn't given enough credit. I felt like I was at home and honestly wished I could of stayed forever! Thank you Virginia landing staff for an amazing stay!!!!!

We had a blast here. If you like a quite chill environment with loads of nature arround this is the place.Staff was super nice and helpful. Great to chatt withKinda a long drive to stores... about 30minsMost of the buildings are closed. Seems like thousand trails doesn't want to invest much into the park.Fishing, claiming, oysters, crabs. The water was calm most the time. Could easily be kayaked.Restrooms: Clean and nice

We enjoyed the peace and quiet. Being by the water the flies were bad but that is nature. For anyone planning to go here, take a screen tent so you can enjoy the outdoors bug-free. The pool is a hike from campground but a nice walk. Suggest pulling a vehicle in order to get around and see the sites in the area. The pool is huge and clean at 80 degrees. Suggestion to management: the mini golf course would be marvelous with some paint and indoor outdoor carpeting. I bet there is someone, permanent or seasonal, who would be happy to get a price break to re-do it. We enjoyed ourselves and would revisit.

The views are nice, and the place is generally very peaceful. However, it is also fairly run down and based on conversations with other campers, there's no plan to improve it. Many site's hookups are broken (like 50% or more), and their best full hookup sites were flooded to the point of being closed. Seems like it was once a great spot and has declined in the last 20 years. There are also *lots* of bugs. We were there in October and got eaten alive - so I can't imagine what it's like when mosquitoes and flies are in full swing. There's also not much to do in the immediate area - you have to drive at least 30 minutes away to do pretty much anything. So it's not a great spot if kids are involved. The guy working the gatehouse called us while we were en route, and was palpably irritated that we wouldn't be arriving until 5:30 because he usually leaves at 5. Really? All of that said, if you're after a sleepy, quiet place and aren't bothered by biting insects, it could be for you.

We were gifted a Thousand Trails membership when we purchased our RV. Since this is part of that membership we decided to check out out. It's very quiet & peaceful. There's lots of space for our dog to run. It's marshy though, so no place for humans to swim. If you're bringing kids, plan to go someplace else for swimming. There isn't a ton of amenities here though there is a bathhouse, & laundry. The grounds are very well maintained. It's a beautiful campground. The staff is very friendly as well.If you're in an RV, be prepared for no septic. There is a dump station of course. The 50 amp sites were not usable while we've been here. There are very few of them anyway. The 30 amp sites are plentiful. My cell service has been fine. I teach an on line yoga class & was able to stream it with no issues. For us, it has been a great experience; Quiet, relaxing, beautiful. We dug for clams, did some fishing & enjoyed the place. We went to Kiptopeke State Park to go to the beach. It's about 40 minutes away.

We were perhaps the first into the cabin this season. The site is beautiful, right on the marsh, beautiful sunrises from the screen porch. Where the 6 or 7 shared cabins are you are out of site of RV area and it is spacious. The cabin was not well maintained but not terrible. There were multiple plugs that didn’t work, lightbulbs out, the floor wasn’t very clean, the fan in the bathroom did not work. There was only one heavy, fleece sheet for each bed, and we had a cold night so had to put our coats over us. The hot water didn’t work and in the 3 days we were there it wasn’t fixed. They apologized several times and did give us a key to an empty cabin so we could use the shower there. The kitchen was pretty well equipped: new micro, coffee maker, clean stove and fridge, some, but not many, cooking tools. There appeared to be no grill available for outdoor cooking which would have been nice. The people are friendly and try to be helpful but lacked the ability to get the hot water going in 3 days. Overall the place has a ton of potential but it isn’t well managed. As others have posted, there could be hiking paths and kite flying and other ways to engage in the beautiful setting. Those who know marshland would realize that an actual beach should not be expected, but a place to put in a kayak or canoe would be great. I would return, but would expect to clean a bit and be prepared for the cabins to be adequate but lacking attention. I like that it is not commercialized, it is a very natural setting, but it could be much better organized. Especially since nothing else is close by, as in within walking distance, so the campers are a bit isolated.

Very friendly, lots of smiles and everyone waves. Way out in the country with lots of Wildlife, no sounds of nearby roads or highways, no Night Lights from nearby towns. Our cabin was on the water with a night sky that would rival any Planetarium. No golf carts riding up and down the streets at 9 at night. The cabin had somewhere but it was very clean and cold AC, the pool was fantastic and the kids loved the free hot dogs and ice cream on Saturday. We spent Saturday night wrapped up in blankets on the ski tube in front yard of the cabin watching falling stars

It is ok if you are looking for an out of the way camping. But as far as hookups it looks like the grounds have been neglected and half the the power boxes did not work. There were very few pads and they were being reclaimed by the earth. It had a bit of that post apocalyptic feel. There are many tall trees between sites that felt too tight for my motorhome . Not comfortable parking there, the ground was very wet and grassy, I was afraid I would get stuck. Even thou it was April and cold I was getting eaten alive by no seems, and I don’t usually get bitten. Strange......

Great place to stay and rest up from this busy world. Lot's of distance between spaces. We had great communication from front office during a tropical storm . Manager Chris is very pleasant lady who is 100 percent about having happy campers. If you are looking for a busy campground with lots of noise , activities and drama , this campground is not for you. Come to rest, hike, bike, and enjoy the abundant wildlife.

We didn't actually stay here, but visited to see if it was worth the drive in an RV through the Bay Tunnel. It's not. At least half of the sites are unusable. The pool looks like it hasn't been usable for a long while. And most of the amenities have been marked off the list. There's a private residential area in the middle of the campground. The campground is far from anything, so unless your goal is to do nothing, this is not the place for you. The bathrooms are clean & the grounds are mowed & taken care of in that way...so it looks pretty, but it's not worth the drive.

Rowdy campers nowhere to be found, which was a plus. This park seems to have a lot of potential but not very impressive as it is now. Beautiful location but would be much nicer with its own beach. Not enough full hookup sites in transient area, and most W/E only sites had electric boxes but no electric. Pool (which was way too far away from the transient campsites) looked aged but clean (we did not use). Did not see any place to park around pool area. Bath houses looked clean but are also of advanced age. No camp store. Lawn mowing of occupied sites stirred up the already plentiful biting flies. Huge deep puddles on our campsite formed during a heavy rainstorm. Back roads in area and some parking lots of businesses on main highway also flooded. We left a day early because of the weather and our campsite being flooded. Surrounding towns very boring and some areas looked unsafe.

Beautiful remote property. The amenities are old but the staff does the best they can with limited resources. Breathtaking views of the water. I enjoyed walking along the edge of the marsh and watching tiny crabs scurrying around under my feet. It is a huge property, over 800 acres, but a very small part is being used.

Great spacious campground on the water. Views were lovely, everyone was very nice and they had a hot dog lunch Social we attended. Not a ton of full hookup sites but we got one and had plenty of room.We only stayed one night because a storm was moving in and we decided to pack up so we wouldn’t have to drive in rain and wind. Would have enjoyed staying longer.Very clean campground with a great view!

Beautiful campground. A little distant from shopping but if you're looking for a quiet get-away this is it! There is a fishing pier but can only be used at high tide. Clamming is available but the crabs weren't in the shallows yet. No cable but the satellite worked well. The people were amazingly friendly and so helpful. The grounds are kept nice, with picnic tables & FH's. Laundry facility was clean & reasonably priced. There is a pool (wasn't open yet), horseshoes, mini golf, & playground. I would recommend this campground to anyone travelling the eastern shore of VA.

We enjoyed a very quiet and relaxing Memorial Day weekend here. It was our first time and we were very pleased. We had great weather, which helped keep the bugs away that we kept hearing about. It's a great place for families looking to disconnect and enjoy nature. We didn't mind the lack of cell service or available things to do. Very friendly staff and beautiful grounds. We will be returning.

We went there this weekend. Bath house by the water is gross, but the other bath house is amazing compared to the one we had to go to. There completely different as well, one is gross and uncleaned tile, the other is wood. No service but 2 or 1 bar, un kept up put put. No pool because of covid. Oh, and no places to eat or anything like that until 30 minutes+

When arriving the office was closed with a sign to call a number to check in. We called the number and got voicemail twice. We left a message to get instruction and Still have received NO call back 3 days later. We had to ask other campers how we reach a person for the business. “Umm.. the girls driving around in a white SUV”. Really!??? Ok, we find her and we are instructed that there are limited spaces for 50 amp electric and sewer hookup. Thankfully, we found one! We ask her where the pool is.. she says they don’t have one “ and they were suppose to take the advertising off”. OMG!No cell service, no Wi-Fi , no pool, no activities, no playground for kids, no store and the closest store is 30 minutes away! ITS LIKE A GHOST TOWN! My daughter swears we were “catfished”!!On the positive note.. staff is friendly (when you reach them) the view is beautiful, & you can clam & crab right here, we met some very nice people. Will we come back again… ABSOLUTELY NOT!

This is a very clean and nicely set up camp ground. We stayed in a cabin by the water but, there isn't a way into the water. You can look at it and long to play in it but there is a marsh bed all the way around the place. This is the part where you have to listen carefully and believe what I tell you.....there is *nothing* there. Hear me again when I say....NOTHING. There are some little stores and some quaint little shops here and there but you have to drive a bit to anything. There wasn't anything to do at all but sit in the cabin screen porch and look at the water. We had to drive to cape Charles for any real sort of civilization. If you wanted to be totally alone while you finish your novel or if you want to totally detach from the "real world" this is a good place. I would go back to kite surfing if there were a way to get into the water in front of the cabins. These guys need a recreation director or something to get things happening. They need someone to organize and do fun stuff with the guests. Ice cream party night...tie dye t-shirt day...here's how you get in the water around here....big camp ground cook out on Saturday or something where everyone gets together....maybe a dance or something after that. It's a beautiful place and quite large and spread out. It could be a really fun place with some entertainment! Beds were comfy and the water pressure was amazing. The cabin was clean and very home like.

I don’t want to write this.I’m swallowing all selfishness to write the review this place deserves. I don’t want to write it because I don’t want you to come here. It’s too beautiful, and the availability of the cabins is too convenient. My buddies and I take a guys weekend here every once in a while to get away from work stress, and it’s such simple living. No WiFi, no cell service. It’s incredible. You wake up and look in your back yard and enjoy the view and whatever food you bring. The staff is incredible. Especially Roger. Sup Roger. Thanks for making that bachelor party awesome. Anyway, we fish and enjoy each others company along with the view. Priceless. Like I said. If you’re leaving a bad review it’s because you’re a spoiled brat who can’t enjoy what Virginia landing is all about. I’ll keep coming here until I can’t.
