We had an amazing year 1 check up with our Pup at Blue Ridge. The vet Dr Jake and the staff were all just wonderful and made my girls visit pleasant ( shots and all). She will still be excited to go to the vet.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates! I took my sweet girl to her first appointment there today. I called the day before & booked an appointment, and got in the next day! so rare at any vet! The front desk staff was so kind & I can’t begin to express how amazing Dr. Jones and her vet tech were. They were so kind & loving to my 8 month pup. It was so obvious that they genuinely care about your pets. Dr. Jones eased my mind about so many things & gave me such valuable insight. If you are looking for a vet for your fur baby don’t hesitate to choose Blue Ridge. I am so happy I finally found a vet I can trust & I know my girl is too!! Thank you Dr. Jones!!

I have used them for years. My baby gets first rate treatment and I am treated very well. They are patient with me trying to make sure I understand his diagnosis. I highly recommend them.

Tomi Jean Waters…..We are 4 people living in our house and we have 4 animals( 3 dogs and 1 cat)…. 2 of the dogs are senior dogs( age 12 and 13) and recently needed blood tests, x-rays, biopsies, ultrasounds and other procedures….We have always been upfront with the staff—whomever we were talking to—about our financial situation( school tuitions, and every month bills)…. They were nice enough to set a payment plan, but told us at some point that some of the most recent procedures would not be added to our current payment plan…. that was after we brought our roommate’s dog—that had blood work, x-rays, ultrasound done. If I were a millionnaire, I would not look at prices at all when it comes to the animals’ health…. We have to be practical and discuss finances before each procedure…. When we discussed with the vet who took care of Alex, we informed her of the situation: even though we were the ones to bring him, he is officially not our dog…. We told the vet that we were currently under a payment plan, and that we would be appreciative if a similar plan could be made for our roommate as well…. The vet—my partner was also there that day—specifically said that she would make a note so that the amount would be added to our payment plan as her primary concern was the dog’s current health needs. We thanked her and authorized the procedure. We are now a few weeks later, and we received a phone call from Mrs. Tomi Jean Waters, who now tells us that we need to pay Alex’s bills upfront as these bills would not be added to our current payment plan. That is when I informed her of what had transpired with the vet to which she promptly cut me off and said :” the vet did not say that”…. Mrs. Waters, you weren't there!( unless you were wearing a cloak of invisibility or something)….in your line of work where you deal daily with customers, insinuating that they are lying is not only unprofessional but also insulting…. We have always been honest and upfront about our situation, and so far—except for Mrs Waters—we have always been treated with professionalism, and kindness. We will be more than happy to discuss the options we have but NOT with Mrs. Waters.

I don't understand why this business bills itself as offering 24-hour emergency veterinary care. One of my Greyhound's front legs snapped at 5:15 on Saturday morning and she was screaming in pain. I called to see whether I could bring her in but was told the office wouldn't open until 8 am and they couldn't guarantee that a vet could see her that day. Seriously? I eventually took her to CARE Veterinary Service in Frederick (35 minutes away!) and was very pleased with their care.

Our bullmastiff died on a Sunday, and this was the nearest open vet. I called Blue Ridge and asked if they could take his body for aftercare, and they said yes. We let them know we were on our way and would be there in about 30 minutes. We got there and they had us stand around and wait for another 30 minutes. They were not slammed, there were clearly staff hanging around. We were waiting outside crying with our dead dog, and they made us feel like a nuisance.A vet tech who told us she was “taking care of stuff on the computer” for I guess the 30 minutes we were waiting came out with another tech to move him inside. We followed them in so we could hug our baby one last time. The staff stared at us like we didn’t belong there, but nobody would tell us what we were supposed to do. I even asked the vet tech “what next?” and she said “we’re gonna put him in a bag.” They can apologize for their vet tech saying something insensitive- actually really, really stupid- but they can’t give us back the dignity of the last moments we had with our dog. They can’t take back the fact that a bunch of their staff were standing around watching me hug my dead dog like I didn’t belong there. It just struck me as trash behavior towards grieving people.Their patient advocate went above and beyond to make it right for us, and I truly appreciate that, but within a few days I was getting multiple rude, borderline hostile messages from their accounts payable person. Apparently they don’t manage all the expenses from the crematory service they use, and I asked for an itemized invoice to understand what I’d already paid. You would think I’d spent months dodging payment from the messages I got from this lady.Anyway I haven’t really had a bad experience with a vet before. Our vets tend to love us because we love our animals and do our best to take great care of them, and we generally love our vets and their teams. So this is definitely one practice I will never use again.

We trusted that our kitten would be in good hands for a regular spay. We took her there on a Friday, and she passed away a few days later after being rushed in for an emergency visit. She showed all the signs of septic shock, but without spending close to 3k on testing, we were told that it must have just been her heart, and she was unable to be saved. She was our son's first kitten and we are heartbroken. The emergency vet was compassionate, but the billing manager was extremely cold hearted and rude and even said that because we used a spay today voucher, that they do things differently with your pet. Nothing will bring our kitten back, but hopefully we can help save yours. Run far from this place!

Consistently cancelled appointments for last 9 months.I can't speak to the competency of the veterinarians, as all of my appointments have been cancelled (I think about 5 at this point) since May 2023. They call late the day before that they can no longer see you and schedule and reschedule and then your reschedules have to be rescheduled. My animals are long overdue for annual wellness, shots and prescriptions. No prioritization or triaging based on their horrible scheduling/calendar. UNACCEPTABLE!

We have had nothing but great experiences at this office. We drive the 45 mins because they are caring and compassionate. Today we had to put our almost 14 yr old dog down and they were amazing to our family and accommodating. Thank you so much for taking great care of our animals and also being compassionate and supportive when needed.

We adopted (rescued) our dog and the neutering was done through the agency at BRV. I will tell you that I have never been treated so poorly. From calling to confirm appointment time and not being given any instruction for day of surgery. No update phone call as I was promised when the procedure was done. All said and done (afternoon shift) was so rude to me. “It's a policy to NOT speak to the pet owner. We only communicate with the rescue agency.” That should have been said to me when I called to confirm appointment time or at the drop off. Then all communication would have gone through HART. Who, by the way couldn’t have been nicer. It wasn’t the information that was given to me that was bothersome, it was the delivery. There was no need to be so condescending and short with me.Maybe they don’t need new clients. Because I will never step foot in there again.

Basic checkup with vaccines went easy. Phyiscal exam of my dog was like 1 minute which didn't seem thorough. Costs have really increased and for a simple exam, blood test, and bordetella vaccine costs nearly $200.

My molly is 13 and has been struggling with eating & diarrhea. Took her in because I’m going out of the country wanted to diagnose issue and get help if possible. They tell me blood test and sons gram to the tune of 1k normally I’d say no but i desperately needed answers before leaving the country. I opt for overnight so she can get hydrated and get meds. (Big mistake) they say in morning not eating. Can’t give meds. So I bring her hone with instructions for 5 medications to administer and 2k bill. she’s gotta eat in order to take pills. I got home. Frustrated. She won’t eat. Can’t give her antibiotics. I’m struggling. She’s struggling. Call to talk to dr about diagnosis and plan. No one calls me back!!

I came for help in saying goodbye to my English Mastiff rescue due to her health issues and age. There was so much kindness and consideration from everyone there. We were led to a comfortable room with a large dog bed on the floor, which I truly appreciated for my big girl. (I'd recommed some soothing music for that room and a few lamps for softer lighting.) The tech that assisted was so wonderful, kept us informed, checking on us alot and offering her heart at this difficult time. There was no rush for any part of the process. While this was so incredibly hard for me, Blue Ridge Vet made the process much easier. I was so impressed with them, and even though it's a hike to get there, I will now make them my new doctor for my new English Mastiff rescue and any future dog. Thank you to everyone - the receptionist, the tech and the doctor that helped me and my dog(sorry I did not note your names.)

Terrible customer service. Little advance warning of appointment time and if you are a few minutes late they bump you off the schedule. Their communication would be laughable if it wasn't so frustrating. I should charge them for all of MY time they wasted. Changing vets to someone who actually wants my business and cares about first class service. Surprised they are still in business.

I picked this place because the Dr. Jessica Kalinowski because she took care of my bird during the emergency. I heard she’s not working anymore. However, I scheduled the regular appointment because I thought the other staff also humble as her. It was very disappointing! I spend 58 miles to get here and I was late 10 minutes. Also, I have informed them I was stuck in the traffic earlier. They asked me to reschedule the appointment it was disappointing and there wasn’t waiting anyone at the lobby. This is not a best place for regular visits because the staff is not very humble as I thought.

Money is the bottom line here. If you tell the doctor multiple symptoms they will only focus on one. We brought our dog in with eye, lung, and suggested pain issues and they sent him off with pain meds ($800). The next day he had full blown pneumonia and was hiding under our shed to pass away peacefully. We brought him back to the vet and they diagnosed him with aspiration pneumonia (typical for frenchies) when he really had viral Pnuemonia (got a second opinion). We even told the doctor that he was in the house with another dog that had pneumonia and they didn’t listen. They didn’t offer to reimburse us the $800 for the original visits misdiagnosis and they continued to misdiagnose our pup. Go anywhere but here

I have been taking my fur babies to Blue Ridge Veterinary Services and boarding for several years. I have always been pleased but after this week, I can say enough about them and especially about Dr,. Mitchell. We brought Daisy, our nearly 14 year old Golden mix to see Dr. Mitchell for a Quality of Life visit. Although Dr Mitchell did not tell us what we should or shouldn't do, he helped us to understand that as we feared, Diary was at the end of her life. Likely suffering from Kidney and/or liver failure, as well as loss of body functions and difficulty with her limbs, Dr Mitchell was honest with us, as well as kind. tender and compassionate with us and our Daisy as we made the decision to end her suffering. Dr. Mitchell helped to make this very difficult decision and situation a little easier, and put us at ease when, after Daisy was gone, he told us he thought we made the right decision. Thank you Dr. Mitchel for helping us get through this most difficult time. We will miss this beautiful girl!

I cannot stress enough how wonderful Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates staff is. Our beagle got into my house plants while we were away on vacation and when we arrived home at 9:30pm, she was in a lot of pain. I called BRVA early the next morning, explained to them what happened, and they told me they’d see her, no questions asked. My family and I made the 1 hour trip there and Hillary at the front counter was immediately welcoming and so friendly. She jumped into action right away to get a tech. Taylor came out to the lobby and took Harper back for us and she was very nice as well. She asked me thorough questions and took the plant information to the vet, Dr. Hyde, and they immediately jumped into researching. They took the situation seriously, were swift to act, and most importantly, CARED for our dog with a level of compassion I have yet to experience from ANY vet in my immediate area. Hands down, best vet service I’ve ever received and in less than 5 minutes, they were able to instill a sense of trust and reassurance in us. Cannot brag them up enough, if you need help, this is the place to be!

I showed up after hours with a dog underdress that needed to be put down. Blue Ridge did not have a doctor on staff so I was forced to drive to Winchester. This is infuriating when they continue to say they’re 24 seven but don’t actually keep up with the staffing needed.

Can't thank Blue Ridge enough. They've always been quick and responsive when any of my pets needed something. I'm without words with how kind and empathetic they were about the end of my cat's life but they comforted us every step of the way and reassured us of the decision, as well as the extra mile of comfort after our loss.Blue Ridge has provided an excellent standard of care for both our pets and us as pet owners. Can't recommend them enough.

I am currently in litigation with Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates of Purceville, VA. Minutes after receiving treatment for an ear infection and taking medication prescribed, my then 8 year old Great Dane was fighting for his life in full GDV. Despite the fact Blue Ridge was his vet and is an emergency facility, they refused to follow up treatment and recommended I get him to an emergency vet. I was lucky to get him to Mountainview Animal Hospital in time and he survived the ordeal. No blood work was done nor were side effects of the steroid prescribed discussed with me at any time. Blue Ridge Veterinary has refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing, never even phoned or checked to see how Fenway was doing or if he survived. Not once. If anyone reading this post has had a similar experience with Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates please contact me.Fenway did survive and will be 11 in March.

They were the most professional and compassionate team of veterinarians I’ve ever met. I would rate more than 5 stars if I could! The doctor especially, made the whole process of losing my fur baby just a tad bit easier while guiding and comforting us through a very rough process. Thank you to everyone on the team, my family greatly appreciates everything you’ve done for us!

Our baby boy “Tank” had cherry eye in both his eyes. At 4 months he has his first surgery performed and it didn’t even last a day before the cherry eye returned.A friend of ours had highly recommended Dr. Jacobs at Blue Ridge. We called to make an appointment and assumed it would be at least a month out (like everywhere else) and to our surprise we were seen within a week.Dr. Jacobs and staff made us feel welcome from the moment we pulled up on the parking lot. She then explained she could take care of Tanks cherry eye THAT DAY. It was literally fractions of the cost we had been quoted elsewhere. We were able to pick our baby boy up later that afternoon. Surgery was a huge success.⭐️We would absolutely recommend Dr. Jacobs and staff to anyone and everyone.⭐️As you can see below, in the before & after pocs) our 6 month old baby boy is definitely a happy puppy!

WOW!! If you’re thinking of taking your animal to this veterinarian, think twice! And if you’re thinking about getting an echocardiogram here, don’t put yourself through the agony of the complete chaos of their unorganized ability to schedule an appointment.I had an 8 AM appointment for an echocardiogram with my cat. I brought him in at 7:50 AM, and they told me that they would need to keep him all day. WHY??? I have an 8 am appt. Which was moved from a 3pm appt because I was told to make my cat fast. (Why? You’re looking at his heart)I never heard of such such a thing. Why make a timed appointment with me, if your protocol is to pile animals in and be at the mercy of when you get to it. F THAT!They kept him for 3 1/2 hours and then called me and said the echocardiologist never showed up. It appears they have no communication with their echo cardiologist. If she was sick, or running late, perhaps you might call the client and give them the option to reschedule or cancel entirely. But nope, you couldn’t be bothered. You let my fasting little cat sit back there getting fleas and traumatized. FOR THREE HOURS!Also more importantly, I’ve noticed there’s no feeling of animal kindness here. Just a ‘give us all your money’ vibe. It’s Subpar treatment from top to bottom. Not a bit of professionalism, with no accountability and more importantly, no concept of actually laying out appointments for this kind of thing. You’ve lost a client with your epic display of stupidity and inability to act responsible for services you claim to provide. When looking for a professional vet, cross this one off the list immediately!I can say DR GREGORIE is a wonderful cat veterinarian. I hope you get out of that place and can be represented by a more professional and reputable outfit.

This is for cat grooming. Leslie along with something called Kitty Magic work miracles! I highly recommend her. She makes our shelter cat look fancy shaving off all her matted fur. The cat is so mean we can't brush her and Leslie is the first groomer in 10 years to make our cat look like a piece of art!

Just called over there for my future mother in law and was told that the vet was recommending going to another facility due to, “not having the proper equipment necessary to treat the animal.” Then we get transferred to the care team and are told that the vet there this evening is leaving at 9pm and isn’t taking on any new patients. So instead of just telling the truth up front they decided to LIE while we are trying to seek emergency treatment for her animal. Of course this is loudouns #1 vet hospital. What a complete joke. So if you want some where that will lie to you so that the vet on staff can go home when your animal is having an emergency call Blue Ridge.

BLUE RIDGE Vets.Purcellville, VirginiaI am overwhelmed with happiness by this Veterinarian's way of doing business compared to the numerous others that were contacted. They are straight forward, humble and are like no others, almost as if they are old friends verses going to an auto shop to have your car fixed. The others I almost had to refinance my home just to get at estimate on the overall costs and we considered having her put to sleep.Of course, until they opened up my baby (actually my daughter's dog) surgically, It could have gone either way...The outcome is better than I even imagined, After recovery time, Luna is now as healthy as when she was a puppy, I still own my home and she has a totally positive attitude about everything...!She is still as smart as ever and the only problem is, I still can't teach her to talk yet... lolTully TavaresCall 703Plumber.USAshburn, Va.

Found out about this practice thanks to the humane society when I needed to put down my 22 year old cat. My then vet wanted to do a full workup and test before humane euthanasia - total of $860ish. Around $100ish for everything and they made sure she had a soft bed and was relaxed. I loved the respect and care they gave an animal they did not know unlike the vet I have been going to for years and knew she had cancer. Years later and my 4 bel mals come here and the team is still as amazing as that day.Understand that this place get a lot of emergency calls and your appointment might be 15 mintues behind due to this. Have understanding and know that the team cares for each pet.

Make an appointment if at all possible, as the emergency examination is honestly insanely expensive. That said, the staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and made every effort to work with me.

Saturday was our first experience with Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates. The circumstances could not have been any worse for us as we were putting our 17 year old dog to sleep. The care and compassion shown by everyone was genuine and as comforting as it could have been. We are very grateful.
