Dr. Corkern is hands down the most diligent, compassionate and dedicated vet I have ever met. I attended this practice for years and left to another local vet during Covid times, that was in a the area. (Big regret). I returned due to an unforeseen event with one of my furry babies. Not only did she and her staff commit to the cause, she stayed past her business hours of operation to remedy the situation with my Coco. Will never make the mistake of leaving this practice again! My family and I are so very thankful to her and the staff here. They truly operate out of pure value and love for animals. Thanks Doc!!

We have been coming for 27 years. Unfortunately, that run has ended. We started with Dr. Casey and then Dr. Harrel. The ENTIRE staff is knowledgeable, caring and very understanding. They make you feel like your pets are their pets. It has been a great bond over the years and I will never forget that. Very helpful and compassionate staff. I had to go there and have one of my older dogs put down as he suddenly started having seizures . They were very helpful and the vet was great. I am planning to move from the VA Beach spca to this practice the very next time I need the vet.

The vets and assistants are wonderful, Every time I bring my fur babies in, they make sure i understand everything before I leave, they also encourage you to call if you have concerns once you get home. I won't bring my babies anywhere else for their care.

The staff here is excellent! They're polite, friendly and knowledgeable. The vets make my dog feel at ease and provide an outstanding level of care. Jess who is the groomer here also provides top notch care & education regarding my dog's double coat. Highly recommend this vet clinic for both medical and grooming needs.

Before I made a appointment I called to make sure what was the price of just a regular check up nothing else. They told me $60 without insurance okay great! The day of the appointment they took my dog in the back for a check up ? Came back they gave him a rabies shot without my permission they came back with the bill I had to pay $500 out of pocket I will never come back here even if my dog were dying! Just sneaky and liars!

We have been gong to VCA for years for annual check ups, but recently we had to visit because of our dachshund was not acting himself. I called on a Saturday, they were able to fit us that day. The vet tech and Dr. Smith were very kind and explanatory. They could Sailor & I were nervous. There were diligent in examination and strategic with treatment. Best of all, Dr. Smith followed up with a text to personally check on Sailor in a couple days after our visit. It was timely because we added a extra step to the treatment plan. Really appreciated the care attention.

Dr. Smith is very kind and gentle with my dog who gets very nervous at the vet. He really looks at her body language and wants her to feel safe and comfortable. He takes the time to go over things and let's you ask questions. I would highly recommend him!

I don't like that they reschedule appointments at the last minute without a giving a courtesy call that's very impolite. Everytime my wife take our dogs to their appointment it's very uncomfortable because it feels like we not wanted there or we bothering them... We just there to get treatment for our dogs. I truly feel it's because we are African Americans because 90% or more of the their customers are White dog owners! So yes it's very uncomfortable when we not getting the same respect, care, and treatment for our dogs like other customers. Also my dog needed grooming but before we could take him all his shots need to be up to date so they told us he needed all his shots that was gonna cost over $700 so we couldn't get him groomed just to find out that two of the receptionist made a mistake or just said that because they didn't want us there so now my dog has not been groomed in 3 months and has a ear infection because they said mistakes happened. I am very mad and upset... I also feel I need to to contact a lawyer for discrimination because this isn't right. They are prejudiced and antagonistic toward people on the basis of their membership!!!

We have been bringing our fur babies here since we moved to the area in 2009. Dr. Harrell used to be our primary vet, and she was wonderful. She helped us through the difficult decisions when our cat was dying of cancer, and was very kind when the time came to let her go. We have recently started seeing Dr. Ligon, who is just amazing. I always leave feeling like my concerns have been heard and questions answered. I feel their prices are fair given the service and extent they go to to care for each animal. I also really appreciate the follow up phone call the next day, and the fact that the doctors will call you back when you have a concern. While they may not always tell you the price of different services up front, you can always ask before anything is done and they will give you an estimate and discuss your options. The staff is usually friendly, but like anywhere else, some visits are better than others. They are human, after all, and this has been improving too. Overall, I am very happy and will continue to bring my cats here.

The staff loves on my dog every time we go and that is half of what I want in a vet's office. The doctors listen and answer questions patiently. My dog doesn't like going, but then that is to be expected. After all they have a very scary scale she has to get on every time she goes. :)

We are new to VCA Portsmouth and we could not be happier. Flynn, Simba and Bella were treated very well and loved on by all. With appointments over two weeks, they saw two different docs. Both were patient, loving and took the time with me and the cats. They also were not pushing scripts or services which I LOVE. So glad we made the switch! Thank you.

Since we moved to the area about 6 months ago, we've been bringing our dog, Brutus, here for checkups and boarding. He is always excited to go and the staff is so sweet to him! Also, a weird detail but when you bring your dog here, they give you an ID card for your pet with their updated shots and a photo. It's very cute and a really good idea. Anyway, we love PAH and would recommend this vet to anyone!

My baby Bentley had a great experience here with Dr. Smith.. He was very nice and knowledgable. The ladies at the front desk were also very nice! Sadly I found a vet closer to my home but I would definitely recommend them.

The staff is all so kind and caring. The technicians and the vets are well informed on various issues and tell you what is best for your pet, not their wallets. I will happily be bringing my two babies back here when we need.

Absolutely LOVE Dr. Ligon and the way she interacts with my Golden! She comes in the room and instantly goes to the floor to give belly rubs and scratches to my girl. There is no hiding her passion for animals which makes me feel at ease seeing it first hand. I've seen Dr. Smith twice & he is also great, very knowledgeable and ensures you understand everything before walking out the office. Best Vet around!!!

DR Smith took care of my cat that is 12 and half years old. This cat is very scared of leaving the house but him and his staff took their time with her. He explaind ton.v us in detail everything about the visit, procedure, action plan, and why we should go this route as well as the medicine and why he chose it. Very happy!!

These guys work really hard to be responsive. Dr. Smith, although tending to run behind schedule, is wonderful at fully answering all questions while visiting. He also is great at getting back to phone calls when he is first available. Overall, this place is everything I could ask for when deciding on a vet to take care of my furbabies.
