It's 5:45p on a Sunday why is this store closed? 4/28/24 They're always closing early. I had to give 1star to write a review otherwise they wouldn't got that. Even on regular week nights they close before time. Just shut the WHOLE store down then PERIOD

This is a great location. The staff are friendly and the store is kept clean. On the other hand this comments here is for the returning customers to those that this apply: STOP STEALING!! DAMN WE CANT HAVE NOTHING IN PORTSMOUTH! SMH

Located behind BP gas station Frederick & Portsmouth BLVD. Good customer service and products at a reasonable price. Got all this under $4 including tax!! The peach rings taste like Nehi Peach soda, Dollar General can't keep them on the shelf!!

Literally the worst place in the entire area. Let nothing fool you. I have watched the same item be out of stock for weeks. MOST of the employees do not care about their jobs. The store is never ever stocked. I once found spilled milk just sitting in the cooling area, it stayed there for MONTHS. They are extremely disrespectful and disrespect me on a regular. I highly highly recommend you go to any other store in the area. Everyone working looks so so frustrated with having to do their jobs. Hard to approach.

Great service. They hire the right people here. Always willing to help and they jump up quick when the line gets long to assist people. Customers need to cut them some slack, sometimes everyone just happens to come in or finish their shopping all at the same time.

Ok here we go I got to tell you PEOPLE I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT THIS DOLLARGENERAL IS THE BEST AROUND FOR THE MOST PART I ALWAYS SHOPPING HERE.THIS DOLLAR GENERAL HAS REALLY GOOD EMPLOYEES THEY WILL GO OUT OF THE WAY AND BEYOND TO HELP YOU TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY.THIS DOLLAR GENERAL IS MOST OF THE TIME KEEPS EXTRA ITEMS ON HAND COMPARED TO THE OTHER DOLLAR GENERALS I HAVE BEEN TOO.. I GOT TO TELL YOU PEOPLE THAT THEY ALSO HAVE GREAT DEALS ON THE DOLLAR ISLES AS WELL AS OTHER GREATDEALS AROUND THIS STORE.

Good place to shop, especially the value price items. I just think dollar general need to hire people for stocking only, and not use the cashiers so much. It would cut down on check out to time.

Hey guys just wanted to let people know the staff here is very nice! I have never had an issue at this location. Other stores owned by Dollar General are not so friendly. I've been this location several times and never had badd customer service.

This store either needs to hire people that want to work or shut it down! There are carts everywhere with inventory on them. Clothes everywhere, shelves are a wreck! A complete disaster, you can’t find anything!

Although it's a cluttered store due to lack of help stocking shelves it's a nice and newest of the ones in my area. Prices are always great too . However the customer service is a lil on the uninformed side of the buisness.....so I had a money order from western union and this store does Western Union. I called before going to see if they would cash my money order and the manager on duty said she was not at liberty to say over the phone. Like um okay......so then I asked what would be the latest to come in store to talk to someone about my money order and she said that she would have to contact someone else.....so pretty much she just was lazy didn't want to envolve herself with something she knew nothing about and blew me off instead of learning something that as a manager she should already know. Hmmm.

The cashier Sammy is excellent and always polite & respectful with a smile on his face. I love walking in and seeing him because I know if I have trouble finding anything he will direct me right to it with a smile.

I’m giving 3 stars solely because of convenance. This is a brand new store so I was super excited...the employees walk around on their cell phones, sometimes don’t even acknowledge me even at checkout they don’t say a word. I always get attitude. The store often does not put up their sale prices I have to always ask if I’ve seen it in the ad and even then they act like I’m annoying them because they have to take their headphones out..I much rather just go to the other local one on George Washington Hwy!

They really need to hire more people. Customer service is Kind as possible when you have a lot of people that can't find products that haven't been shelved. Lighten up and hire some new employees.

The African American manager told a customer he could go first when another register opened up. She begun to argue with me until he told her that he jumped the line, she doesn't listen well and I won't be back only when the Caucasian manager is working.

The floor of an entire section was coated with trash and fallen products. Cashier was rude and intimidating and attempted to discourage us from purchasing any products. Do not visit.

I went to the Dollar General in Portsmouth.They need to shut that store down so that the employees can take the time to stock.And the hard working emploees need a raise.The store is junky
