This store has a vibe that is family oriented. It's not a big box chain store. They actually have cashiers and customer service that are always friendly and helpful. You can get keys, patio things, spray paint, propane, landscaping items, etc. There is plenty of parking, and I like being able to park and walk right in. The store is neat and organized.

Finishing this up... keep getting interrupted. Great staff,always friendly. I tend to buy odd stuff for my wood working and if they don't have it then they can usually get it. Not like the big box stores, this is like stepping back into the '50s when people were more personable.

New to the area so I stopped by to see what Ace Hardware stocked. Very clean and organized plus convenient. All the staff were knowledgeable. Glad the store is close in proximity to the area so I don't have to travel to Colonial Heights or Chester to shop.

I have always loved Thacker Ace on Crater Rd. So naturally when I was ready to purchase a home defense weapon I went to where I knew I would get the help I needed, friendly faces, helpful staff, and advice... even though the prices are higher. Shawn is the young man that works the weapons counter. He was very nice, all smiles, attentive to my needs, UNTIL after I purchased the weapon he tells me he have no ammo for the 380, but gave me a site to order online that were double the price of what Thacker sells, plus that company claimed to always be out of ammo as well.So I go back to Shawn ask if he could help me out getting the ammo I needed, sure he says, since you bought your weapon here I will call you when they come in, It's been a year, Come on now!!! and when I would visit the store for other things I would always check with him and he always would say the same thing and take my number for the 5th time.....NOW I know you never intended to get me the ammo and when I go into the store he would turn his head and walk away, just disappear. Didn't want to handle it like this..but what's a gal to do???Update: I am happy to say this whole ugly issue has been corrected beautifully.Thackers is holding up the excellent customer service we are accustomed to,And I appreciate it and everyone for making it right.

This place always meets the communities needs. They have everything from old-fashioned lanterns to garden flags. I can only think of about once in 15 years were they couldn’t help me with a need. My buddy Robert always shows me where I need to look for an item and then offers me a piece of butterscotch candy! Talk about great customer service!

I love this place. They may not be as big as Lowe's or Home Depot, but they're just as good. And in the customer service area, they might even be a bit better. There is always someone asking if you need help. You don't have to track anyone down or wait for someone. Unless it's a specialized item, they usually have exactly what I need and I can find it quicker and easier. Today I even found a drill bit that they didn't have at either Lowe's or Home Depot. Go figure!! The gentleman that helped me today helped in three different areas of the store for 3 different items. He didn't need to find someone else for each area. He knew it all. Great job Ace!! I'll always continue to shop at your store!

This is why I prefer to go for my Hardware they are very knowledgeable everything I need is in stock it's nice to have someone to actually help you when you need it it's unusual to go to Home Depot or Lowe's and be able to find someone as knowledgeable as the guys that have been working at doctors for as many years as I've been going there picked up propane this morning once again knowledgeable super friendly no reason not to go there only millions of reasons to stop and enjoy the knowledge that they haveStill my favorite hardware storeCheck out guns and ammunition

The store is clean and well set up. The plants outside were mostly dead, yet full price. After telling 2 associates that we didn't need assistance, the second associate literally stalked us through every single aisle, staring at us from the end of the aisle. When he got right next to me and pretended to adjust a bag of birdseed that was already situated neatly, we decided that we weren't welcome and gave up looking. My husband paid for the cord repair part he wanted and we don't intend to return. The cashier was kind and sympathetic. It's a shame because I've enjoyed other Ace stores.

I really don't know what rating to give to Ace, I be coming here for years to make keys most of the time, but there is a guy at this location that is so knowledgeable of things, that I always get a NO from him, I can't do this, I'm not able to do that, once he told me is not the battery to the remote is the remote itself that is broken (later on, Suburban Chevrolet stated that the key remote just needed to be reprogram, easy enough, lately I lost another key to my car, I called first when I try to see about making a duplicate he say NO, this key guy doesn't know me, when my husband when there, my husband came back home with what I needed, so I'm leave this here, because I like the store! And 99% of the employees are 10 starts thank you!!

We don't have big hardware stores like Lowe's or Home Depot in Petersburg. We have Thacker Ace which I love it just as much as the bigger stores. They really treat you great and have a good selection and I like the layout of the store and I like to look for some of the unique products that they have.i only have one problem...I always spend too much money when I visit Thavkers, which I'm sure isn't a problem for them.😉

I am pleased they offer a 10% military discount!! We received assistance immediately by a knowledgeable salesman. We also enjoyed their selection of firearms and ammunition. A fabulous department addition to their store.

Went in to get bar and chain oil and then just wanted to look around. Within 5 minutes at least 15 people had asked "what are you looking for". To say it was overwhelming and I just wanted to run out of there is an understatement! I highly recommend going anywhere else unless you like being suffocated to throw your part in your hand and shoved out the door! Not to mention they had the buffer running loudly and obnoxiously right in the middle of the store making it hard to even get around him.

Called the Ace 800 number because I was having trouble with an online purchase...could not request the color I wanted for a particular item. The person was helpful they said they contacted someone at this store who said they could get this in and it would take a week to get it then they would call. 2 weeks no call so I called them and the store knows nothing about this nor can they guarantee me I will get the color I want but I still have to buy it first.

Great place to get the hard to find items; knowledgeable customer service is outstanding. The store is always well organized. The plumbing area offers flexible vinyl tubing, PVC, CPVC, PEX and fittings. The hardware section is easy to shop and there is someone always willing to help. The hand tool and power tool selection features Craftsman brand. Check with the staff on items you don't see as they may be stored in the back.

There is nothing worst than a Store Manager allowing his or her employees to closed the store prior to the posted time. I arrived at the store at 5:55PM the posted closing time for Saturday is 6PM. The entrance was locked with the cashier standing looking at me showing her it isn't 6PM, and she replied" I already shut down the computer/cash register". Please be advise this store do not honor their posted hours. I rushed to get there before 6PM because I needed an emergency key made. Very Disappointed! Think about your customers before you allow your employees to get a head start on their Saturday night activities.

I felt very safe when I was there, there's an 6ft chain link fence with barbed wire on the top all the way around the property, I didn't feel safe once I left
