Ok so I’ve been coming to smith mountain lake for 10 years from the DC area. I don’t ever get my hopes too high because DC has some amazing food buuuut this was the best food I’ve had at the lake ever. I got the burrito california with beans on the side as advised by our server and I was truly impressed… I didn’t grab a photo but there is a photo of this dish on the menu

Ask for the Habanero Margarita!!!!! Best drink on the menu, The taste is amazing with just the right amount of spice. Food is always excellent. The patio is awesome and my kids always love your palm trees every time we pass by. We look forward to seeing ya’ll all summer & appreciate you guys being out here in Penhook!!!!!

Love this place. Friendly owners and workers. Great authentic Mexican food. This is not an American Mexican place so once you eat here you will not like the American Mexican restaurants. The drinks are really good. You have to have the mango and the Fresca margaritas. They are to die for. I can’t wait to be able to eat in the restaurant.

Absolutely awesome restaurant owned by the great folks who had the restaurant at the crazy horse marina . Tasty food at a great price and don't forget to try the amazing margaritas . Outdoors dining or inside with the most serious cleaning I have seen since the C19 craziness started . Try it you will not be disappointed.

AMAZING!!! Steak fajitas,shrimp,refried beans, absolutely delicious! Guacamole,salsa,and chips freshly made! Ate outside and it made the perfect experience. Natalia is a fantastic server! Will eat there often!!!

We are regular customers at Mexican Viejo. My children and grandchildren love it. On several occasions recently when I had guests, I tried to call in orders but no one answered the phone. It wasn't the week of July 4th. That is not an appropriate way to treat your loyal customers!

Delicious. Tableside guac was expensive due to it being made in the kitchen and not tableside. But I didn't say anything because it was so good and you could tell it was fresh. Service was friendly and efficient, no hovering. Will be back.

If I could give zero stars I would, I was there around 8pm tonight and I have never witnessed a more unprofessional atmosphere. Employees were fighting in the back and you could hear it from the patron area and after about 30 minutes the apparent mother of the employee that was being yelled at was a minor? My husband and I heard the whole conversation and apparently an employee assaulted a minor employee. I cannot believe after how many times I’ve been here, I’ve experienced this. HORRIBLE. Shut it down. I will be contacting the labor board.
