I don’t leave reviews often but I cannot emphasize what a wonderful experience this vet is. Wendy, at the front desk, is absolutely delightful and cares deeply for each animal that enters that place. The vet, Dr. Caldwell, is high energy, deeply knowledgeable, and “brings you along for the ride.” I’ve been dealing with a very sick rescue (my absolute baby) and they have handled each situation with practicality, expertise, and tender care. If you are thinking about joining this vet or switching… do it. Cannot recommend enough!

What a pleasure! I can't speak more highly of Hunter Mill Animal Hospital. Dr. Caldwell is a great vet and always very caring and attentive with my dog and the staff are always very friendly and easy to work with. She is intelligent, honest, straightforward and reasonably priced - a rare thing in NOVA. I've had pets my whole life and there seems to be a trend in the veterinary industry toward over diagnosing, over testing, over prescribing and just plain overselling. Dr. Caldwell has given our dog great care when needed but is also inclined to take more of a wait and see approach with our and our friend's pets that I have referred to her whereas other vets will gladly coax you into spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on unnecessary tests and specialist referrals and treatments. And my dog and friends' dogs are very healthy and happy!

We’ve been taking our elderly kitty to Dr. Caldwell and the team at Hunter Mill for years now and have nothing but positive things to say! They have been kind, attentive, and compassionate. We always appreciate the personalized care. Put it this way, we moved to Richmond last year and have had such a great experience with the Hunter Mill team that we drive our kitty all the way up for her appointments instead of changing vets. Dr. Caldwell is bright, intuitive, thoughtful, easy to converse with, and oh so gentle with anxious animals (like our chatty old boy cat Alastair) and their human counterparts. Can't laud the staff highly enough. Mad respect and appreciation...when we move from down the street to Arlington, we'll ne sticking with this wonderful, feels-like-family space of care.

This is my first time at HunterMill animal hospital. My 5 yr old shitzu had diarrhea in his diaper as I was leaving the clinic, the staff Heather and John went beyond the call of duty and help me clean up the mess that my doggie made. So appreciate their kindness and willingness to help.

Overall, extremely pleased and very grateful for Hunter Mill Animal Hospital and definitely recommend to others. HMAH has cared for 3 of our dogs since 1999. We've received the best treatment from doctors and staff. Facility is spotless and pleasant. Staff is friendly and always remembers our pets and us. Dr. Caldwell is great with animals - so gentle and reassuring.

We love Hunter Mill Animal Hospital. We tried out several veterinarians when we rescued our GSD nearly 9 years ago; all of them were very good, but HMAH was more focused on the pet -- and more respective of the purse -- than the other animal hospitals. The service seems to be a little more personalized, and our dog is always addressed by name. At this point, we wouldn't take our girl anywhere else. ❤️

They always call me to remind me that my puppy has a shot due or needs a check up! They are always friendly and they all obviously love animals to death! I picked a vet's office out at random and I could not have picked a better place! They answer all my questions very honestly and give you estimates on costs of stuff if you ask them. I love this vet's office.

I was scheduled for 2 appts over the course of several weeks. BOTH times I was given short notice the appointment needed to be rescheduled.No valid reason why.In other words they screwed up scheduling for 100% of my visits. I have a mission essential position and other obligations which makes this unprofessional behavior unacceptable.Luckily there are many other vet practices nearby to choose from.
