Jason and Laura are very friendly owners, knowledgeable and informative all around great people. We love their wines, quaint tasting room and relaxing outdoor seating areas. We have had a few awesome experiences here and hope for more, 1 of those experiences was hanging with the winery canine, Franc. Thanks a lot for getting me hooked on the Tinto and we look forward to seeing you guys again soon!!

We were staying at Woodville Bed and Breakfast and I had asked the owners about a local vineyard who could possibly do a private tasting for my MIL's 60th birthday and Stefan recommend Jason and Laura at Wisdom Oak and I could not have been happier with the experience!Jason and Laura were quick to respond and help offer options of what we wanted to do and we opted for a private tour and tasting on a weekday for our party of 9. Jason and Laura were so personable and accommodating! Especially during times of covid, they met us outside with bottles of water on a nice 90 degree Virginia summer day, we toured the vineyards and the bottling area and then had a tasting of 6 of their wines. They even had printed tasting menus with our party's name on them! The wines were fantastic!! You can really tell all the love, labor and hard work that goes into making their wine. From hand picked grapes, to hand bottling labels, to being on site 7 days a week, Jason and Laura really love what they do!I highly recommend coming to visit! I certainly look forward to returning in the near future.

Really like Wisdom Oak as a small boutique winery. It's in a beautiful spot, but have only sat outside so don't know what their interior tasting room is like.First time: wine flight served in four separate wine glasses (was midweek, not busy).Second time: wine flight served in sort of plastic hotel shampoo bottle thingies (was weekend, busy). Definitely suggest losing those small plastic screw-tops, could instead use one wine glass and a tray with glass mini-carafes during busy periods.Wisdom Oak wines are adventurous and worth getting to know. Their rose is definitely not your standard light summer drink, instead it's hearty, has notes of clove, and would pair with say baked ham. Well, why not break the rules? Other wines, like their North Garden white, are more traditional, eminently drinkable, and pair with food as you'd expect. Their tasting notes let you know upfront if you're going on an adventure, or a more traditional wine experience,

It is located only minutes from C-ville! The farm and vineyard are tucked on an inviting piece of property surrounded by trees and mountains. The nicest young couple is behind this beautiful new winery. There is a great outdoor space to relax and enjoy a glass of wine with cheese-paring. Perfect for a cozy gathering. We are here celebrating our 29th!!!

Hidden gem. The best of both words - a cute winery with views and wine that will soon too all others in the area. Take the risk with the long drive up the one way road, it’s worth it.

We went when it was just starting to rain, and expected a bunch of people to be there. this is a diamond in the rough. its a very intimate place and the wine is wonderful! We went to 5 different places and this was the only one where we purchased a bottle. Will definitely be back!

I was really excited to try Wisdom Oak since it was one of the wineries that opened after I graduated from the University. I have been here twice since they opened and both experiences have been absolutely wonderful. For the first, I was a DD for some friends and I was treated super well by the friendly winery works. They gave me some water to enjoy while my friends did their tasting. The second was yesterday when I went for a tasting. I had a few questions about the wines during it and they were so willing to answer all the questions that I had. The wines themselves are my favorite because they aren't too dry but they are also not too sweet. I split a bottle of the North Garden White and it was truly amazing. The seating is also adorable as there is some indoor seating and outdoor seating. Both times, I've opted for the outdoor seating in which there are nice chairs and picnic tables all around. There are areas under shade (whether because of trees or umbrellas) and also out in the sun, which is great. I love this winery and will be visiting again in the future! They also allow outside food, which is great since I usually bring some snacks along.

Keep calm and press on…. The sign says it all and was a quite comfort as we pulled our 19 foot trailer up the one lane road. The quietness of this mountain escape was needed after driving from North Carolina. The hosts were very informative of the area. The wines were a hit with the whites coming out on top. Even our dog seemed to enjoy it! We will be back for sure.

Great find! It's definitely a bit out of the way but definitely worth it. The road in is long and beautiful and definitely not hard to traverse. My BMW 650 handled it with no issues. The Albarino was best but all the wines were tasty. Will definitely be back!!

I visited Wisdom Oak with a party of 7 for a private tasting with one of the owners. During the tasting, she described the wines thoroughly, and all 7 of the group enjoyed all of the wines offered though we all have differing tastes. After the tasting, the team pointed us to a space that had been set up for our group and we were able to enjoy glasses of wine with a beautiful view. The whole team was friendly, kind, and accommodating, and the atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming. Highly recommended.

I went here last Saturday with a group of 12 girls for a bachelorette weekend. We did the private tasting in their former barrel room. The owners were so knowledgeable and kind. They even last minute removed 2 people from our reservation and were kind enough to refund those spots. After our tasting we sat on their hill and their staff were kind enough to set up 12 chairs for us. I would highly recommend visiting Wisdom Oak! The owners clearly care about their craft and their visitors experiences.

The drive in was a little challenging due to a dirt, bumpy road but nothing worth worrying about. The wine was fair, the service was fair ( not super friendly at all) The view was pretty, very country side ish. However, the dog off leash policy is inappropriate for a wine tasting area. We are dog lovers and dog owners and dog rescuers ( our dog stayed in the car) but there is a time and a place for off leash and it's not when they can stick their nose in your cheese board. We had to ask several times for the dogs to be called to their owners so we could enjoy our experience. Let's use some etiquette people...really.

I had wanted to try Wisdom Oak for a while but I usually work weekends and I finally found some time last weekend. My boyfriend and I have high standards for wine and are members of 3 wine clubs. We were so impressed with Wisdom Oak. Loved all of wines, especially the slightly sparkling Viogner which was very unique. The wines also weren't too expensive (most around $20-22). Their wines were much better than some vineyards that start their wines at $25! The tasting room staff was friendly too and we were able to chat with them (opposed to just hearing a few tasting notes). It's rare where I'm at a tasting room where I would potentially buy every wine (if I didn't have a budget, that is!) but I would have purchased any of the wines on the tasting menu.Gorgeous scenery, dog friendly, and delicious wine. We bought a bottle of the North Garden Red to go with dinner that night and stayed for a glass. We'll definitely be back!

We visited Blenheim (owned by Dave Mathews) and enjoyed the wine there! The server suggested Sugarleaf if we liked reds, and don't be put off by the one lane narrow dirt road.I was glad we ventured onward. The road was narrow, twisty and rolling, but the tasting room was nice, the staff knowledgeable, and the wine is fantastic! How good you ask? Served in the White House good! Don't travel there in a very low sports car, but anything else will make the trip. You might have to back up for 1/4 mile if someone is coming the other way, but it is well worth the trip.

Our favorite vineyard-- in part because driving up to a small tasting room tucked away at the foot of rolling hills is so bucolic. The wines are also more balanced and consistent than most other VA vineyards which tend to be overwhelmingly sweet IMO. The reds are some of the best in the region. Its never been too crowded, and is the perfect place to share a bottle with the one you love on the patio. Perfect get away.

Wow! We called ahead to let them know that one member in our party uses a wheelchair, and they went out of their way to make sure we had easy parking and a comfortable place to sit. HIGHLY recommend the local goat cheese to pair with the delicious wine. We especially enjoyed the Meritage. Thank you, Wisdom Oak!

*COVID REVIEW*Their reservation system ensures everyone is distanced and staying healthy. Their flight is a good deal and a fun way to decide what bottle to get. We loved the third edition of their red blend - had lucious raspberry notes. Their three cheese platter snack is extremely generous.Be mindful that if you come after it's icy/snowy that the entrance is up a narrow path and may be hard to get across in a smaller car.

I wanted to love this place. The views are nice and there's a nice country drive to get here. It's November and the inside is closed. I'm not sure why.. Upon our arrival we were greeted outside and told that we could sit in the covered outdoor area. We second guessed this because it was a chilly day but then I said "well there's heaters so we might be ok" the worker then says "yeah they're not on because we try to save the propane" understood. There weren't many people there. But that should have been followed by "I'll turn one on for you" but nope. I had to ask for her to turn it on and then it burnt out after 5 minutes. She never came back around. The wine tasting was sub-par and served in a brown bag in individual bottles. Covid style.. pour your own and read off of a paper.. It was my daughters 22nd birthday and her very first wine tasting and the entire experience pretty much sucked. The lady working could have been much more friendly and accommodating but I'm sure she wanted to get back inside where it was warm..

This is the most beautiful and peaceful Winery that I have been to. I simply love it. Jason and Laura are super nice people and they make your visit a pleasure. If you haven't been to Wisdom Oak Winery, you should really check it out. They also have wonderful wines.

So many reasons to love this winery! Not sure why it took us this long to write a review but having visited numerous wineries in the Charlottesville area, we keep coming back to this one for their high quality wines (especially their port, Tinto), quaint tasting room and wonderful hosts, Jason and Laura. It’s worth the hour 1/2 drive from Fredericksburg and the rocky windy road leading the scenery to enjoy such superior wines and wonderful company!

We were so glad we went a bit off of the beaten wine trail for this one. The wines were some of the best we had in Virginia, the owners were charming and fun to talk with (and were there on a Sunday - dedication!), the atmosphere was cozy and laid back, and the tasting included some really notable wines (red, white, and port-style).A definite must-try.

This wine is amazing, the setting is gorgeous, and the wine is entrancing. Literally 10/10, I'm sad I don't remember the guys name but he suggested now my favorite red wine. The north garden red(a red blend) is fantastic. I'm down to maybe 4 milliliters and I think I'm gonna cry. God bless this place. Also go hoos

I love Wisdom Oak Winery and the owners attention to details of their wines. I was given a bottle of their 2017 Petit Verdot. It was fabulous. I normally enjoy Cabernet Sauvignon. I let this bottle breathe about an hour before enjoying with steak. I love a heavy bodied wine with a deep color, and this wine did not disappoint. I look forward to purchasing more bottles of this Petit Verdot from Wisdom Oak Winery.

Great wines and Franc (the dog) is the best. Our one year old was mesmerized by him. I'm pretty sure he stuck is finger up his nose and everything and he did not care. He hung out with our baby and kept him entertained the whole time. Their wine club is an unreal deal. We joined. Will definitely be going back again and again.

Went to Wisdom on "Black Friday". They advertised they had two for one tastings ($10) and also buy two get one free bottles. Sounded like a great deal. Paid the tasting free and then found they only had three wines to taste to start with, one which was not even their wine and another that they didn't have available to sell. We were told that they were closing for the season after that week. I really wished they would have done that prior to selling out of all their wine before wasting even $10

Nestled back comfortably in a clearing in the woods just off Old Lynchburge Road, is Wisdom Oak Winery. The vintner/proprietors, Jason and Laura are a really nice young couple with full-time professions and have done a great job rehabbing the old winery that was there. Their tasting consists of 3 whites, 2 blushes, and 3 reds (all nice actually) - costs $7 but includes their logo'd glass, and is free if you buy 3 bottles; perfectly reasonable and very easy to do.The whites were typically what you'd expect and have probably grown to love here in Virginia with a Chardonnay, Vidal Blanc, and a blend of the two with a Traminette twist. The chard was finished in a neutral oak which is my personal favorite. The Reserve Rose was the nicer of the blushes and was a surprise as it was already in the barrels from the previous owner and had to go thru some testing to ensure it was even fit to bottle. The reds were quite delish with the fall-like season finally arriving. The 'house' red was a cab franc/cab sav blend, the Meritage added Merlot, and the Merlot itself was Smokey and full bodied with a nice smooth finish.None of the 8 were 'meh' in this writer's opinion and certainly worth the stop on our way home. :)

Beautiful area. Wine is ok, whites and port were best. Friendly staff. Idyllic setting where you can sit on a patio or chairs in the grass under the giant oak tree, looking up a big green hillside and down into the valley with a pond, farmland etc..

Wines were excellent! Even though we could not do a tasting, they had come highly recommended and we were not disappointed. Definitely will come back when things settle and we can get the full experience!
