Dog and Cat hospital has been taking care of babies for their entire lives. They listen to any questions and or thoughts I may have with consideration and always answer them. In expensive times like these they try their best to work around your budget. The staff are knowledgeable and have great attitudes and hospitality. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for quality care or even a 2nd opinion to get to know this clinic and the personable staff.

I have taken all my fur babies to this practice for nearly 50 years and would not go anywhere else. Dr. Peter Gerlac is the best. He has been my vet for years and I always request him. Only the best for my Bentley, a Norfolk terrier.

My dog has been coming here since he was a pup. The staff is friendly and helpful and he is very comfortable with all the staff which gives me comfort when leaving him. He recently had surgery on his foot which greatly improved his mood and the follow up has been great. Dr. Sanchez and the team have been wonderful.

I had an emergency concern with my 10-year-old Miniature Aussie and the staff could not have been more accommodating or sympathetic. Although fully booked, they got me in for an emergency medicine appointment and spent the time necessary to fully examine my pup and assure me that my concern did not indicate a serious problem. Great people.

Dog & Cat Hospital is the only place I’ll take my baby. I’ve been taking my pitbull here for over five years. They are very helpful and resourceful. Everyone from the front desk to the veterinarians are always friendly and personable. I like how they always leave emergency appointments available so that way you can bring your animal and somethings going on. And the veterinarians always provides good advice. 10 out of 10!

The staff, as a group are simply awesome. I have never met a staffer of Dog and Cat Hospital with anything other than a positive demeanor. They are the best. My dog actually gets excited to go in the door. Whew.... that is a blessing!!!

I have mixed feelings regarding this office because not everyone displayed an outright lack of professionalism and disrespect some of the staff actually was very helpful. My dog was hit by a car this morning and I was grateful enough to walk into this office that normally doesn’t take emergencies. The male vet tech was extremely concerned and decided to take my dog who was pretty banged up. When it came time to pay however I felt completely judged and shunned because I wouldn’t have the few thousand to cover a surgery. I was offered a non surgical alternative which I am grateful for as well. However when it came time for me to pay I’m assuming because I expressed concern with the bill expense previously the front office or Carrie should I say handled me with such lack of care as if I’d implied I couldn’t afford my dog. She entered my room in an abrupt manner and attempted to offer me options for payment none of what I needed. The lack of communication or context whatever it may be within front office staff needs to be corrected I don’t appreciate assumptions being made when questions of clarity could have been asked. Do better because it totally felt like discrimination and based upon these other reviews there is a pattern

My first time here today and I couldn’t be more pleased! My boy Lokai has been suffering with an ear infection, and I’m someone who typically prefers to heal more naturally/holistically, so I was afraid to come to a normal vet because not everyone shares my views on care, but they were amazing! Not judgmental at all and heard my concerns. I was seen immediately even after calling and asking if we could move the appointment up to a faster date since he was different. They have been super friendly and walked me through every step of what we can do to help my pup feel better. We will be back and I’m happy to have this option available to us should we need future care.

Normally I take my cats to Banfield, but it’s been a pain to get an appointment that isn’t two months out. Dog & Cat Hospital had available slots and I’m so glad they did! The staff at the front were friendly and knowledgeable, and I was seen promptly at my scheduled time. They got me in and out quickly and with the information I needed. I think I’ll be making a permanent switch!

Was able to get a same day appointment. They seem to have full facilities & have knowledgeable & kind staff. I thought my cat might have ear mites & a thyroid problem, but it turns out he has an ear infection, fleas & diabetes! I’m so glad I’ve discoved this vet. Thank you all!!

Great place to take your fur babies. Our puppy was sick I called Saturday morning and they were able to see our dog. We are visiting VA and we're able to get an appt same day that was a miracle. Our puppy got diagnosed sent home with meds and feeling better. Monday they called to check how was our puppy. Cost was not bad. If was our vet was double of the price. Really nice staff and place.

We always have a very pleasant experience. Staff is exceptionally friendly and the DR’s are knowledgeable and go above and beyond to take care of our fur baby and make sure we understand why they chose a certain course of treatment.

My pet had an eye emergency and was able to be seen here, which was appreciated and the doctors seem good. However the customer service is very poor, I have been there 3 times and left in a bad mood each time. They are VERY expensive and overpriced. In a recent visit, I asked to decline the yearly heart worm test bc my pet has been on prevention since he was of age and is acting healthy and well. The vet tech told me I was required to do a heart worm check because it is mandatory in the state, which is completely false it is not legally required in any state in the US. I was unable to decline, it was of course negative, and it was on my bill. A yearly wellness and vaccine appointment cost $340 with nothing extra or anything special. I have never paid over $200 for this type of visit over the many years of being a pet owner. The visit before that, I waited for over 15 minutes and the tech yelled at me from across the clinic that I scheduled the wrong date to have my pet be administered his follow-up vaccine for Lyme. This was an appointment they had scheduled for me at the previous visit. They were extremely rude and condescending. At the visit before this (my first appt here), it was fine, but I had a long wait time, I was once again not allowed to decline an unnecessary test that added almost $100 to my bill. I worked at a vet clinic for many years and have several relatives with their DVM who are practicing veterinarians. I have observed many distasteful interactions in the waiting room of staff not treating the client with respect and courtesy. I will not be going back. It’s nothing but a frustrating experience and it’s very obvious they will say whatever they need to say to get their money through unnecessary tests and extra visits. It’s disappointing since they’ve been open so long and had good reviews and so many vets are not accepting new patients. I am only putting 2 stars because my pet has not been harmed here, and they got him an appointment when it was urgent.

We brought our sick cat into catndog money pit.she was losing weight badly.The doctor or the vet that was caring for her really just kept saying everything's fine her blood works fine her kidneys fine but it's just going to be another $500 to get a CAT scan to really find out what's really wrong with her we paid $500 to get that information. no I wasn't happy neither was my husband Sally's dead now she passed a week after our visit .🐱💔 it's not their fault of course I'm not saying that ,but a little more honesty or at least give it to us straight, So after paying for some expensive cat food and some vomit medicine cost of that $500+ oh and gave us another paying customers pet's medicine thank goodness we didn't give it to our dieing cat. Thanks for nothingCat n dog Hospital 😥

I have been taking my animals to Dog & Cat for years. The staff has always been so friendly and you really feel like your animal is in caring hands.I never make reviews but my past few visits here have really discouraged me and have me in the market for a new vet. With that being said, I feel as though it has gone downhill these days. I brought my cat in for an aural hematoma, they drained it and basically handed my cat back to me. No instructions for after care, the vet wouldn't bandage his ear up because apparently he didn't have the materials to do so (which is weird but okay), just no information whatsoever. The ear filled back up with fluid like 2 days later because we had no information on how to treat it.Fast forward a week, my wife and I bring our cat back to get his ear drained again (we are trying to avoid surgery and didn't want him to be in any discomfort). The vet was awesome and we were all on board with the same treatment plan: drain the ear and they would bandage it up. Our cat was returned to us with his neck bandaged? No bandage on his ear whatsoever. We were confused. His ear has already filled back up with fluid because it was not bandaged properly. A complete and total waste of time and money. They charged me almost $40 for an improper bandage job. Not sure what's going on with Dog & Cat and I really hate to read a negative review, much less write one, but it feels as though they just don't care anymore. Anyway, that's been my experience and I am hoping it isn't anyone else's. The staff is so nice, seriously.

After adopting a seemingly normal dog from the local shelter, falling even more in love with her, & then learning that she is actually a unique case, I was afraid I would never find a vet willing to work with her. Much to my relief, Joe at Dog & Cat Hospital has become one of my dog’s only trusted friends! She & I both hope he never leaves, & we can continue our special visits to a team of extremely understanding, adaptable, & experienced professionals with the support we have come to know & love.

Can I do a -5 star? Doc G is great Doc H was great, since the hospital was bought by blue pearl, it has gone downhill and all about making money. I don't like big business and I don't like what big business does to small buisness. I miss the way. Things were when they were locally owned.

They are the best with my little rescue kitten! Literally had to ask for her back so I could take her home and get to work. But seriously, the obviously care a ton about their job, they answer any and all questions without judgement, and are up front with the care. Highly recommend them!

We have a long history with Dog and Cat, or at least starting from when we moved to Norfolk, got married, and got our first puppy in 2003! Drs. Hallstrom, Gerlach, and Schaefer have taken consistently wonderful care of our dogs. We were referred by the Stiles/Burch family back then because they had gone through a lot with their labs over the years and had wonderful things to say. We were not disappointed. The doctors always spent ample time talking about concerns and giving our dogs a thorough exam. I felt like they were treated with patience and kindness always, and even remembered between visits. When we adopted a more high maintenance puppy later in our Dog and Cat client years, we were still pleased with the way you guys handled his needs. He was pretty high drama, but the staff wasn't. They found solutions to his fears, and gave us special permission to work around them. You have taken us through our very first baby and his passing, and now are caring lovingly for our 16 year old wonder dog and her "high maintenance" companion. I whole heartedly recommend this practice to all who move into the area with four legged family members!🐾🐾❤️
