This was a great experience! This was our first time taking our Syer, a Morkie, to the groomers. It took loads of research but ultimately we chose The Happy Dog. Best decision ever!From the booking experience, to our welcome when we arrived, to the actual grooming, it all was top notch and provided the peace of mind I was hoping for. Plus our puppy looks amazing with his little bandana !Let me just add our Morkie is a little over a year old and very energetic, his groomer was experienced and patient while giving him his cut, which was to the length I wanted!They really care for dogs and take time to even share any tips with you that can help maintain the grooming until their follow up! I definitely recommend these groomers.

Love this groomer. They are always so kind & do such a good job with my little baby Bella. I refer everyone I can here cause they are that wonderful. My sister now takes her dogs here & my friend does as well. I was always afraid to take my dog to a groomer due to the fact that when my grandmother took her dog somewhere else years ago her dog was never the same. She was terrified & wouldn't even play with toys anymore it was awful. But this place had won the best groomer on the peninsula for a few years when I first started taking my dog here almost 4 years ago & they have never let me down. The first time I took my dog here they only gave her a bath because they didnt want it to be too much for her since it was her first time ever going to a groomer. I just thought that was so awesome. Anywhere else probably would have done the hair cut too for the money but not here. They really do care about your dog & treat them like their own. I will say you must be very specific with what you want but I feel like that's with anywhere. Anyways, absolutely, 100%, recommend this place for all your grooming needs. You won't be disappointed! 🙂Update:Been about 2 years since I first posted this review & I still stand by what I said. Best place to take your dog. 10/10 everytime!

Oh how my fur babies clean up nicely! Both of my boys have been groomed here. Always a friendly, timely and informative service! 10/10 would recommend Happy Dog Grooming for your fur babies. Today was little red’s first time being groomed. Service was expected to be 2-4 hrs as Melissa (Groomer) makes sure to take her time and moves at the puppies tempo. Little red was finished in about 1.5 hrs. I greatly appreciate that the puppy’s stress levels are taken into account and they are NOT forced into being groomed, leading to harm or further distress.

First time using for boarding my standard poodle puppy. He stayed 2 nights. He seem happy and healthy when I picked him up. I may try their grooming services as both groomers have numerous years of experience.

Happy Dog is a second home to our dogs! We board our dogs there, in addition to having them groomed. They are taken care of very well and Jake is diligent about accomodating their needs....a great business owner! He is very helpful and friendly, such a natural with all of the dogs. Jesse is wonderful, always ready to help. Austin knows I need help getting my big English lab in and out! We will not board our dogs anywhere else. Thank you HAPPY DOG! YOU ARE THE BEST!

Love this place! Everyone is so kind and personable, and you can tell they appreciate their clients. I've never once had a complaint or concern with their services. While waiting, it's always fun to watch staff interact with the daycare dogs, or just simply having side chats. You can tell they genuinely enjoy caring for the fur babies. As long I remain in VA, Happy Dog will most definitely be the only place Coco will go!

My doggies look 100xs better then they did before. The employees did a great job at getting all those loose hairs out. All 4 of my dogs go here and I just love the way they smell and look when finished. No matter how busy this place is they will always have room for your furry loved ones.

I highly recommend Happy Dog Pet Salon for pet grooming services. I've been taking my dog Scooby there since he was a puppy, and the groomer has always been amazing. Despite Scooby's anxiety and his large size, she handles him with care and goes above and beyond to ensure he is comfortable during his grooming session. I appreciate the extra effort she puts in, and Scooby always looks and feels great after his visits

I would be super careful coming here if you were down on your luck and not able to afford grooming your dog (or don't know how to take care of it yourself) because someone here will call animal control if you can't afford their prices. We tried ourselves at home but made the matting way worse and with loss of employment couldn't afford our bills nor a groomer. When we finally got the money to get them groomed we scheduled with this place and told them the matting was bad. Came in and was told to expect to pay hundreds more than we were originally told. We told them we would look for a cheaper place first since it was out of our budget. Next day animal control shows up at our house with the wrong name and spelling that this grooming salon wrote on our grooming paper. Not cool at all. We came to this place for help and they tried to get our dogs taken away. Absolutely horrible! Critter Cleaners helped us out for way less money and did an excellent job!

I've been going to this location for several years and never really been impressed but it's convenient and not overly expensive but I will certainly never ever go back again. My dog has almost bald patches where they cut it too low, they trimmed the front nails but didn't even touch the back and they cut his nose all up. Not to mention the lady at the counter actually had the audacity to tell me I should think about doing an express cut and wait an hour or 2 in the parking lot for him because of his barking and whining, ummm excuse me if you cut my nose all up like that I would be barking nonstop also! Stay away if you love your dog!

We took our big belgian malinois (Ozzy) in today for a bath, brush and nails. He came out smelling so good! His fur looks great, his nails are amazing! They did everything they promised and didn't over charge. Thank you so much. I was so pleased when my husband brought Ozzy home! We'll be coming back!

I took my dog here Thursday, my appointment was made a week ahead so I was already excited about getting my dogs hair groomed for the first time professionally. I would usually do it myself. For whatever reason I wasn’t in the best mood the day of his appointment but as soon has they finished and I came to pick him up I almost teared up like a mother picking up their child he looked so clean and adorable! They did such a great job! Will be back..Highly recommended

Happy Dog pet grooming is the only grooming place I’ve ever taken my fur babies that they get excited to go! They start barking and jumping around the car as soon as we pull up. They love their groomer! I wish I found them sooner! Thank you so much for taking care of my puppers and loving them the way y’all do! Highly recommend!

This is the first time I have used this salon ( for this dog ) They shaved by poor puppy so close on his privates and his little tail he has scabs on them ! I wont be back .. if you are looking for a great grooming salon call boutique O Yo Yo in Hampton ! They love their pupps !

I was in town visiting my husband who, as a contractor, stays at an extended stay hotel. I had been falsely told my dog could stay with us but found out last minute he could not. I found myself in a tough spot because without knowing anywhere in town I had to find a kennel that would accept my dog immediately and be open for me to pick him up on a Sunday. After a few fruitless phone calls I found Happy Dog. They were more than accommodating of me and my dog. They even didnt freak out when my 2 year old son got behind the counter when I was filling out paperwork (sorry y'all!) After his stay he seemed happy and relaxed, normally after boarding he is pretty stressed out! The people who work there are all so nice and the prices are very reasonable, I recommend this place to anyone in the area. Thank you guys so much again!

Let me first say that I have always taken my Yorkie to Petsmarts prior to the past few years. Recently on November 12, 2017 I dropped my dog off for grooming. I always go over in detail how and what I want done. Well this time I didn’t pick her up however when I saw her she looked cute as a Yorkie should. I noticed her rubbing her bottom every chance she could and saw that they cut too close on her backside. No big deal. I cleaned the area and put ointment on it. Two days later something told me to check the area to see how it was healing. Well I missed her front part which was raw and had been cut as well. “CAN YOU SAY OUCH” I again cleaned that area(removing all of the scab) and put ointment on it. I then proceeded to contact the salon to advise what had been done. The lady who answered advised me she would have the owner call me. Needless to say she gave EVERY excuse in the world and attempted to put the blame on myself and the Yorkie. I am 100% certain that my dog will not be returning to Happy Dog. A very I satisfied customer with no proper apology. Asking me to give my oh a “big hug” for her. No.

Love this place. I live in Williamsburg and make the drive once a month for my pug JoJo they take excellent care of him every time.
