While committed to improving my health and shedding excess weight, I faced a harsh reality at this grocery store that was no different than the other Harris Teeters I tried. There are simply no sales that a working class person can even afford. The prices for nutritious options like fresh produce and lean proteins were shockingly high. Despite my efforts to make budget-conscious choices, I found myself compromising on quality. The lack of affordable, wholesome options left me feeling frustrated and defeated. Until accessibility improves, balancing health and budget remains a daunting challenge.

I had a limited shopping experience. I was totally disgusted at the lack of cleanliness in the women's restroom & was shocked that there was only one stall given that this location has a lot of square footage. Be mindful of this when shopping at this location.

They never have enough check out help, and that includes their self service aisle. Never enough open. Currently, the self check out that's opened is backed up all the way to the deli. Why not open both sides when you are busy? Inexcusable! It's Saturday, two weeks before Christmas and they only have 2 lanes open. Plus...be warned. Check expiration dates on everything because I am forever finding items still on shelves well past their expiration date. I would give Negative stars if I could.

I enjoy and appreciate shopping at Harris Teeter (Newport News location). They're always helpful, professional, and kind and demonstrate excellent teamwork, which is rarely seen. They were very busy today, to say the least. They were short staffed and only had 2 registers open. I was impressed how they worked together; Nini (who is an accountant) came out of her office, and another staff member (who isn't a cashier) both opened up a register to lessen people's frustration and having to continue to wait. Kuddos to Harris Teeter! Keep up the excellent work! Thanks for caring about your customers.

Harris teeter is an upscale grocery store. If you want to compare prices to other stores, Harris Teeter is higher than the average. Take for instance sugar. The sugar price for a standard 5lb is say $4.00. However; at HarrisTeeter it will be $5.00. That is a big difference.

They have posted sushi hours. The chef is almost never here during them. This will remain 1 star until hours are removed or the chef is here during the hours. I have a kid with a sesame allergy so when every roll has seeds on it, I need to get one made. So i don't like hoping there is a chef there within the posted hours, or standing around waiting for them, only to find they aren't there when they should be.Photo taken at 12:48 pm

I've been going to Harris Teeter for their steamed shrimp. I used to go to Farm Fresh for their steamed shrimp but since they have closed, I wanted to find a new place to go because my family loves our seafood night. I have to say that here is WAY better than Farm Fresh. I can't believe what I have been missing. The shrimp here are super huge and alot more affordable. One shrimp almost fills up my palm for 6.99/pound on sale. I couldn't believe it! Customer service the first time from a lady behind the counter was ok but the last time was alot better. Very nice the second time. Anyway, the shrimp is fantastic.

Love this store! Very clean with friendly team. However the deli is unbelievably slow. Doesn’t matter what time or what day it is incredibly slow.

2023-11-22 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Still a great place to shop. A little more expensive than other stores but more premium products to go with those prices. Freshly cooked pizza, discounted on Monday afternoon and evening. The Asian bar is good at lunch and dinner.2015 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shop at HT regularly. Usually Thursdays for the Senior discount. Usually a good selection of groceries. Good complement to Food Lion. There are a few items each has that the other doesn't.

Usually Harris Teeter is a little bit pricey for my budget but they were having a huge sale for the Super Bowl and Valentine's Day. Get their "Vic Card". We saved a lot of money on soda and some of our regular purchases. I was nice to only have to go to one grocery store. Their baked goods and vegetables are very good quality.

All-around a much better deal than Food Lion if you are a Rewards member, and the produce/variety is much better. Its close location to the university also makes it convenient for students to walk over and get what they need.

This Harris Teeter is great in virtually every regard, except for the high prices. It has a lot more products than most Harris Teeters, has a small pharmacy and flower shop, a large deli and bakery, and a huge variety of wine and beer, plus I did not see anything out of stock. There is an entire aisle of wine, and the aisle is very long and filled with wines from around the world and from the U.S. and even locally in Virginia. The deli and bakery here are awesome, and they have specialty meats, cheeses, baked goods, cookies, cakes, and appetizers galore. There is an aisle almost entirely for chips and cereal. It also has lots of cleaning supplies and even dishware. The interior of the store is very spacious and very clean, and the local environment is a fairly low crime, safe, and clean area. My compliments to the workers present when I visited because they were all actually working, keeping the place clean and organized, and were respectful and kind. Because a local university---Christopher Newport University---is right across the street and in the area, this Harris Teeter has a lot of college student workers and student patrons. In other words, a lot of the people in this Harris Teeter are smart and getting smarter. Hopefully, the supervisors will allow them to use their intelligence to bring the notoriously high Harris Teeter prices down a bit!

Harris Teeter is a very nice grocery store that has different and unusual foods and snacks along with the usual. I like to try something different every so often, so this store is perfect for me. The employees are friendly and always willing to help. Clean.Update; No change except that unique shelves for all bare. It's a good thing that I didn't come for meats today.

I have been shopping at HT since 2003. I like the variety and also when I go on Thursdays it's Seniors discount days. I appreciate the Veterans parking being a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. Most items are available when you need them. Generally the store is clean and has a friendly staff. It's a pleasant shopping environment and confidently located near me.

I went to the one in NN,VA. I couldn't get over the vast selection of quality goods. You get what you pay for, quality is not cheap though. If you love to cook, go there. Everything is fresh. On my way out I saw their freshly cooked pizza on display. I bought a slice, yummy! Washed it down with some Starbuck`s coffee that was in there too. WOW!

I definitely recommend Harris Teeter. The only thing they need to be complete is to build their gas ⛽️ station soon.

Selection was excellent but it was hard to find a staff person to help. Also, why would you have 4 different kinds of coconut milk and put 2 in international foods and 2 different ones in baking goods? I'm 5 ft. Top shelves were 6.5 ft high and no staff to get items.

This store is in our neighborhood. It has always been clean and friendly store. Great selection of fresh veggies, meats, and seafood. This last trip prices were really higher than our last time. HT had lots of sales and we bought their brands. We got everything we needed, thankfully. This is our major food store. We are retired so we want a store that gives us value for our money. It was what you expect from a Harris Teeter. Specialty foods. Premium meats. Sushi, specialty cheeses and breads. Of course you expect to pay more. They do have e vic, double coupons, discount programs..etc to help reduce price. Has pharmacy in store. Has a good wine and beverage area. Now owned by same people as kroger so your points work at harris teeter or kroger
