I recently visited Colonial Downs Racetrack for a bit of gambling fun, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience! The staff were friendly and helpful, making my gambling experience smooth and enjoyable. Whether you're a seasoned gambler or just looking for a fun day out, Colonial Downs offers the perfect blend of excitement and entertainment.Winning aside, I'd highly recommend Colonial Downs Racetrack for anyone looking for a day filled with thrill, fun, and a chance at luck. It's definitely a place I'd visit again!

This place is super fun! It is so much bigger and nicer than I imagined! Lots of slot machines and if there was a smoking area I didn’t smell it. The program was so helpful for a beginner with even a section on interpreting the data. You can go over to the paddock and look at the horses before the race. We went on a Thursday and it was not crowded at all. I did wonder if there would be enough betting kiosks on a weekend. Will definitely be back (on another weekday!)

Colonial Downs is absolutely beautiful. One of the largest turf courses in the US. The season is short, July-September. Thorough bred racing. Every weekend. The 3rd floor Jockey club has pre paid seating. Very easy to grab seats at the Rosie's customer service counter. The 4th floor is the Restaurant. Reservations required. Try we'll in advance because this is smaller than the Jockey Club. Virginia Derby is a Blast! Definitely going back when it opens.

Stopped by on my way home to check out the buzz. I am very glad I stopped. Great food, had a burger and fries for lunch, very flavorful. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It's not Vegas, but you know what, for the area it's great and I loved it. The machines are fun, 2 jackpots handed out while I was there. It will be nice once the legislation gets with the times, Rosie's can probably have a table games setup done within a year once the law loosens up. Place felt super safe, also was spotless, clean restrooms, cold drinks, hot food. Can't wait to return, I only live 15 minutes away so I will be back!

Great place to visit. Had dinner at the burger bar and it was well organized and staff is friendly. Next trip back is to gamble.Pretty crowded but plenty of machines to play on.

I thought everything was good a side of the child friendly part My son wanted to go to a live race which I thought was awesome so I brought him down there They have food trucks and stuff outside but it's 95 outside They do have shade but it's still very very hot. So that I could go into the shade with my kids there was absolutely no inside for them so my son has autism so that did cause us a slight problem He didn't act out but I could see it would have happened eventually. I think that the door between the pizzeria and the slot machines could have been walled in and maybe a regular door put in and had access to the outside for the children so that there was a cool location for them to be there were only four doors going out to the outside from that room. Think that's a very bad choice to now reel all the children outside in 95° weather.

Had a fun time. They even had a petting zoo going on. Some of the staff seemed a little green, but others seemed to have lots of information but was hit or miss depending who you asked. Horse races were really fun. Also seems like a waste if you buy "seats" in advance, as there's plenty of space out by the track. There's even free standing room upstairs.

Great fun and easy to play! Drinks are a good price and the game area is nice and clean. No smoking (except in a closed off smoking area) is so nice! People are very helpful and friendly. Upstairs bar is very nice and you can play pool and other games not located on the first floor. Bartenders are great and make some very good specialty drinks.

Had a fantastic afternoon. Went with a gang from the Chamberlin Senior Residences. We laughed our way through the afternoon. Some played the horses; some went to Rosie’s! Ate at the hot dog Stan. Really good! We will go again.

Colonial Downs is a blast! Lots of penny, quarter and dollar machines and believe it or not the food is great there. Burgers or pizza or even a chili cheese dog!! And if you get tired of the slots, head upstairs and bet on horse racing from all around the U.S. It’s always fun at Rosie’s.

This place is beautiful. If you enjoy horse betting, this place is a lot of fun too! The food is pretty good, too. My wife and I like this location way more than the Richmond one. We drop a good amount of money each time we go, and I swear, I am not trying to be salty at all about being a loser. I get that it's gambling, and you win some and lose some, but this is probably the 10th 15th time we have been here and have never won anything more than $1-300 dollars if we are lucky. We have been to other casinos and lost our shirt but had a blast. We drop about $4-800 a visit easy, not including food and drinks. ( I have seen people win, however. I am guessing we have just been incredibly unlucky. We saw someone hit on the chicken scratch game for about 3-4k. I think what made us angry was that we hit 5 bonus games on a max bet and didn't even win over a hundred dollars each time.... (Wife got both bonus games more than once on What's behind that door & I myself got both bonuses t on Spell Academy) That put a pretty bad taste in our mouth this time. Even online casinos that we have played if you hit a bonus game will give you, for example, on a $2.50 bet, you will win at least $1-200 or even more. It's just, to us, not that fun to watch a bunch of spins and not win much, especially on a max bet and watching my wife picking doors super excited just to have her mouth drop cause she won $25 bucks after 5-6 minutes of play. (Again on a max bet lol gamblers know max bet is supposed pay waaay more) We will give it another chance I'm sure just to see if it's just our luck, but if nothing changes in a few more visits, we are just going to call it quits and go to Charlestown, MGM or any other casino in the world. (We have won and had more fun on queen machines in a gas station haha) Just want to play something somewhere that at least gives us the illusion of letting us think we are winning instead of just punching us in the wallet and saying thank you, come again. 😄 🤣 I was thinking volatility until we hit on max bets but not the case it seems. Once or twice sure just bad luck, but 5 bonuses to win that is kinda insulting lol. I have heard of other people, however, who do fantastic here though tbh. So I can't be a hater but so much. It just sure as heck hasn't been us. Not even close, hahaha. Best of luck to anyone heading to play at Rosies. I hope you all win the moon! Very impressed by the recent changes. Before this the bottom of Colonial Downs was like a Greyhound Bus Station. Staff was friendly. Interior well done. Clean. Bit too much sugar on your French fries but otherwise the food was amazing. As a dedicated horse racing fan I'm looking forward to jockey season.

First time back in years and i was truly disappointed. Total confusion, had to stay outside in the 90 degree plus heat, food sucked, unless you wanted to pay $50.00 per person to attend the Jockey Club or go to the " not a casino" which i could not do with my 17 year old son. While trying to walk around to fiqure out where to go security accosted us several time tell us sternly that my son that was not in the gaming area was not alowed in the gaming area. Most of the staff was friendly and understood and even they hoped managed will fix this nonsense one day soon. Horse racing patrons basically treated as second glass citizens.

Well they say a picture can say a thousand words, but in my case it shows 900. It was my first time there and the first machine I sat on and want it within the first 15 minutes. All in all I have to say I had a lot of fun and it was great spending time with my son.
