Just by happenstance, I met the owner outside when he opened up the shop, and had the postcards I looked for. It was a fantastic shop, with many great Southern, Virginian, and other locally-made or themed items, a surprisingly large selection of books at great prices, and many food items like sarsaparilla, which I had been in search for over a year. The shopkeeper was a very nice and knowledgeable gentleman, and I am very happy to have met him. Certainly if you’re in New Castle or anywhere nearby, I would recommend a visit. Cheers.

This was magic for my mom. We were out riding the beautiful countryside in and around New Castle.We saw some store fronts after missing a turn and I recommended riding down.Not only does this store have a large of selection of many items, it's steeped in signifsnt history and stories.Mom was looking for information on barn quilts which was quickly retrieved in a pamphlet.I purchased several books for her recall as she is very interested in keeping up with the history of the surrounding area.There is NO value of the visit!!

The owner is like the real life version of "Wilson" from Home Improvement. He knows many interesting facts and will gladly talk about the history of this nation and our State with you. Fresh coffee while you shop, and lots of very high quality local sourced products and great books to read and buy. Also gave me a free copy of the US Constitution! Thank you!!!

I wanted to stay all day and check out every item. Remarkable selection of books! They have everything from free range eggs to new Virginia wines to hand-crocheted dishcloths to made in the USA stoneware. What a cool store with very solid and personable proprietors.

Lovely store with hard to find items such as Watkins products, South of France soaps, Cheerwine, and Amish made canned goods. A quaint bookstore with plenty of historical materials in the back. Open Sundays.

Wonderful staff and so knowledgeable about the area. Great book selection, puzzles, non GMO and natural foods that you can find anywhere else. Natural cleaning and laundry products and free coffee or tea for patrons while you shop! The variety of items that are unique is incredible. Will come back again and again!

Natural and organic products, food, vitamins, lanterns, books, candy - a store full of everything you might need!Excellent customer service and just a lovely place to visit a few blocks off the highway! It's rare you walk into a store & *know you're going to enjoy yourself. Like the best of all old-timey country stores, it's got a little bit of everything, without the tourist-trap feel. It's got a great selection of natural health products, local lore, food, beverages, treats, books, etc. I'll return soon to check out the books 'in the back'!

Great store! They have one of the best selections of items that I have seen. Hard to find items, locally grown or made items, nostalgic items, food items, vitamins and supplements, camping items, books, puzzles, DVD'S, drinks, candy, and so much more! What a gem! We came across this store in the quiet town of New Castle. It has such a variety of goods, so everyone had something to find. I love the collection of books, natural healthcare items, and gardening supplies. Check out their collection of classic knives and outdoor goods.

You gotta visit this wonderful, unique store on Main Street in New Castle. It’s like a walk back in time complete with one of the friendliest shopkeepers of all time, Phil.Great place for finding organic foods, lotions, and soaps. Grabing a glass bottle of soda. Browsing the book store in the back. All sorts of goodies can be found here!

Great place with the old country store feel. Phil is extremely helpful, and always up for some fascinating conversation.If you're looking for organic ingredients, Phil probably has them, or will make sure he can get them for you. He is also an expert in natural remedies, he either has one already for sale in the store, or has all the ingredients and will be more than happy to tell you what to get and how to put them together.Definitely a must see if visiting New Castle.

The Emporium is a delightful hub in New Castle & a spot you don't want to miss. You can buy holistic remedies, Amish canned goods, healthy snacks, hot dogs, cheese, cold drinks, wine & most days there is delicious free coffee from Central America. It's a treat when I shop here & I know you will feel that way, too.P.S. Don't miss the bookstore in the back, there are also some toys & games for sale & axes in the front window.
