Does Norman bates hotel bring any connotation as to our experience at this hotel? We were put in the veranda wing...oldest wing...it was dirty..rugs are worn bathroom had no place to put things and the shower bath tub was so dangerous to get in and out of inwouldnt let my friend anywhere near it. No bath mat. Slippery tiles. We went to the tavern for dinner. The staff there were excellent. Evidently it's where they put guests with pets...we were told...and when we went back...no lighting was down there. We had to use the flashlights on our phone to find our room in the dark. I could go on and on. The only bright side to that hotel is the pleasant staff. They get 5 stars. The hotel? It was disgusting. The only reason we stayed was it's right across the street from where we wanted to spend the next day and it was late..no other place around for miles. Do not recommend at all. Go see the bridge..it's a beautiful walk..but find other accommodations!!!

Absolutely disgusting room with very old saggy mattresses. Squeaky box springs, everything was damp, spiders in the bathroom. And we never got hot water. People were smoking and partying outside our room all night. The icing on the cake - NO COFFEE. No continental breakfast. But seriously, no coffee????? I paid so much for the worst room ever, didn’t sleep at all and then no coffee. Would never go back. The staff were all very nice - but it just ruined the first night of our vacation.

My children and I, just spent Spring Break in Natural Bridge, and this is the hotel that we chose for our stay. First and foremost, I want to say that the biggest asset that his hotel has are its employees! I really hope that they understand that. Our first night there, I was a bit stressed out. We drove up from Virginia Beach, and I can assure you that driving is my least favorite thing to do. Add in some mountains 🏔️, and I am even more stressed out. What should have taken us 3.5 hours, took us nearly 5 hours with restroom breaks, lunch, and my anxiety.Once we arrived, check in was seamless. We got to our room, which were the double bed option. I have two teens, as we needed to be able to fit in an air mattress. The room was cool, which was nice, and we had plenty of space. Th bathroom had a huge bathtub with plenty of space for personal toiletries, and the water pressure was divine with plenty of hot water!I decided that I was done venturing for the day, so we went to the Red Fox Tavern for dinner. Our options were limited, as they were out of a lot of items, but the food we chose was delicious. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, my son had the sirloin steak, and my daughter a burger. The price of a domestic beer was $6, and draft $8. Our bill came out to just under $100, so I decided that was the only night we would be eating there. Our room purchase had an offer to prepay for breakfast, so that it was what we chose. In hindsight, I would not do that again. The first morning, we were able to choose what we wanted from the menu up to $18 per person, which was more than enough. The next morning though, the owners decided to limit everyone to a very dismal breakfast bar. I explained that I prepaid, and that I did not appreciate the limitation, as I would not get my money back, and the banquet manager was amazing by allowing us the option to order what we had planned. Steak and eggs. My son had talked about it all the previous night, as that is not an option he ever has at home.Turns out the hotel is just very undermanned. The staff is great, and very accommodating, but without staff the wait times at the bar, the restaurant, and breakfast was very long. An hour and half the first night we arrived, an hour that morning, and then after that we opted to eat out, and/or bring our food back to the hotel. The location is what really sells the hotel. You can park your car for the entire stay if necessary. The Natural Bridge park is right across the street, the taverns are approximately .5 mile away walkable but not highly recommended, and the Blue Ridge trail is also right down the road. Don’t be fooled by Google Maps though. It still has that trail listed as the Monacan Trail, and the route leads no where close it.We were able to tackle the trails, and the taverns in one day, so we spent our third day in Lexington. Overall the trip was fantastic, and my children claimed it was their favorite! There is a country store within 3 miles where you can order food to go or stay, they have everything, and beer and wine. I opted for a 6-pack for $7 vice the $6 per beer at the hotel. I also had gyro from there, and it was delicious! Next time we will just bring cereal and milk for breakfast 😂.

Came here for Mother’s Day weekend and while we saw some bad reviews we never expected this place to be as disgustingly dirty as it was. Our first room looked like it was under construction and then abandoned. I’m talking holes in the walls, unfinished walls, dust everywhere, a window so dirty you wonder if it’s been cleaned in the last 10 years and a horrible smell. We asked for another room because we’re not paying over $200 for that. The next room was much better… on the surface. When we get into bed and I pull the comforter it had BLOOD on it. This is a WHITE comforter, how do you miss that? Not even an old blood stain that’s been washed which is no better but this was clearly an unwashed comforter. The other bed had mystery stains and hard gunk on the comforter as well. We had to ask for two fresh ones and got a mumbled apology. The next morning I notice a dirty sock with dirt caked on it tangled at the foot of the other bed where my daughter slept. A sock that DID NOT BELONG TO US. When I looked under the other bed there were empty cups there. These rooms are not cleaned at all! They just do a quick wipe. The sink wouldn’t even drain properly, there was more patched up unfinished work on the ceiling, the vents were covered in dust bunnies. We went for breakfast this morning after seeing their photos online, they charge $18 or 20 per plate… it was absolutely disgusting and none of us ate more than two bite tops. The selection was like 6 things in the buffet that had been there so long that the top of the eggs and grits was a thick hard shell and the bottom was all burned from sitting there in the heat for hours without stirring or changing, the sausage was so old it was jerky, the bacon was so thin it was literally clear, didn’t even try to pick up a biscuit because they looked hard as rocks and yet they’re charging that much for a buffet open from 7-10am when they don’t even bother keeping fresh food out?? This place is a scam and only spends their money on the lobby to impress because even some of the common areas look dilapidated. It’s better to stay at some cheap road motel where you expect this type of trash experience. Don’t stay here. BLOOD ON THE WHITE COMFORTER, I’m still so disgusted by that. I must say that the only positive thing about this hotel was The Tavern, the food was great as well as the service, the gentlemen tending the bar was great and that’s about it for this hotel. Really wish I could get refunded but since I can’t I’ll warn whoever I can to look elsewhere.

Beautiful hotel, super clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent stop right off 81. Take the time to walk to Natural Bridge State Park. Walkway from hotel into state park then an easy walk down to view the bridge. Love the restaurant inside the hotel, good food at fair prices and a full bar. This is our 2nd stay....this time hit a convention group that sapped the limited staffs time. We'll def stay againRooms: Very clean, comfortable beds/beddingNearby activities: Natural Bridge State Park.....a lovely walk to view the Bridge. Look for George Washington's initials on the BridgeFood & drinks: Nice restaurant inside the hotel which makes it a super convenient stop off the highway

We booked our hotel room 7 weeks in advance and were placed in a room directly over the Ballroom that had a planned event with a band. The music shook our room, the windows rattled and it was very loud. No one told us when we booked the room or when we checked in that this would be taking place right under our room. When I called the front desk I was told that they would be playing until 11pm and there was nothing that they could do except maybe move us to the 3rd floor where we might not here it as much. That's where they should have put us in the first place, but the music was loud up there, too when I went to check. I had a dog, 2 kids and all of the stuff that goes along with it in the room with me. I asked if someone would help us move to another room and was told that they don't do that. When I asked why we weren't made aware that a band would be playing right under our room, I was told that they are not obligated to give us that information. Meaning they don't care about the guests... they just want to fill rooms. The front desk staff is very unprofessional and rude at best. The rooms are in need of repair and were not clean. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and did have good food, but we waited over an hour to get our dinner once we ordered.Needless to say, I will not go back. We booked our room at The Natural Bridge Hotel because it was right across the street from the Natural Bridge Park. However, there are plenty of other hotels that are in the area and close that don't cost as much. We certainly didn't get the friendly service, cleanliness or comfort that we paid for.

My daughter and I enjoyed a weekend getaway in Natural Bridge, Virginia. The historic hotel was within walking distance to many hiking trails including the Natural Bridge. The hotel is dated in some ways which adds to its charm. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. It was a little difficult to maintain a good temperature in the room but not terrible. The staff was very friendly. We had amazing drinks made by Jennifer in the Red Fox Tavern located inside the hotel. We definitely plan on returning!Nearby activities: Natural Bridge, multiple hiking trails, caverns and great restaurants. The food at Pink Cadillac cafe and Foot of the Mountain cafe was wonderful and service at both restaurants was awesome.

No matter what Val said, she is in it for herself .My husband and I reserved a room,Deluxe, in the main building. When he arrived at the room(212),upon opening the door, he turned on the light, and to his surprise, the bed was not made, towels missing, used coffee cup on the sink, back to the desk he went.Gave us a new room(214),clean, but the heater vent vibration was so loud we could hear it all the way to the elevator. January night temps. in the 30's. The room was near the end of the hallway. The desk clerk gave us a space heater. Nice, thank you, but, though it didn't work when we plugged it in unless we held the nob down, plus the outlets were loose and cut out. Dangerous.Makes we wonder if housekeeping helps maintenance with workorders.SMHNew room. 10:30 pmThree rooms in one night, very unlikely we will visit again.

We loved this place it was wonderful! We had our one year wedding anniversary! Always heard great things about this place. We will go back over and over! The food was great there and had a chill atmosphere! We enjoyed the Natural Bridge State park and the what the surrounding towns had to offer. It is under new ownership since October of this year. They have big plans for the hotel to bring it to being a prime destination! The staff was so helpful and eager to serve. We will be going back to visit!

Did a 4-day stay during off season. Internet went out for over 1 day and we were not kept in the loop on the developments, nor offered any solutions. Heat barely worked in the room. That said, the service at the front desk was always very friendly and helpful with resupply for the room. Location is incredible for those interested in hiking the park.

Natural Bridge Historical Hotel: Convenient Charm with a Dash of HistoryHaving stayed at the Natural Bridge Historical Hotel twice, I can confidently say it’s the perfect spot if you’re planning to visit the Safari Park or, even better, the Natural Bridge Park. What makes it stand out is its unbeatable location – it shares a plaza with the Natural Bridge Park. Imagine waking up, strolling out of your hotel, and walking right into the park early in the morning. No lines, no hassle, just a peaceful start to your exploration. The hotel itself has a certain historic charm. It feels a bit like stepping back in time, although it’s clear the building is more modern than it seems. It’s this blend of old-world charm and modernity that gives it character, though I think a few touch-ups here and there could enhance its appeal even further. The idea of giving it a castle-like makeover is quite intriguing – it would surely draw more visitors.Regarding the accommodations, the rooms are clean and spacious, and I had no issues with the bathrooms either. I particularly enjoyed the balconies – they offer a nice spot to relax and take in the surroundings. While the hotel might benefit from some updates to really boost its historic charm, it still earns a solid five-star review from me. Its convenience for park visitors and overall comfort make it a place I'll return to. If you’re looking for a stay that combines easy access to local attractions with a taste of history, this is the place for you.

Like others noted, this hotel is in serious need of renovations.I thought it would be memorable to stay in the original main part but when we arrived the clerk said it would be an additional charge- this wasn't divulged when I booked online. The room in the motor lodge part was uninviting, stale smelling and the shower was miniscule. The on-site restaurant's food was sub-par can green beans and anemic salad. At least it was convenient to the Natural Bridge .

We were staying at the The Inn at Forest Oak and they suggested this place. We came in and it was a very slow rainy night so we had the whole place to ourselves. To our delight the food was great and the prices were respectable. Oh, the staff was so kind to us.Food & drinks: Great food ans good prices. The mashed potatoes are homemade! Ans delish!

This was a lovely stay. The room was very comfortable and I had a delightful dinner and breakfast in the Fox Tavern and dining room. Reading comments about the air conditioning, what needs to be understood is that the building has an old-fashioned system, whereby the heat goes on for the winter and the air for the summer. If it is in-between seasons, the windows can be used. I had a delightful breeze. The bed was particularly comfortable and I slept like a log. Walking to the park is easy through the tunnel under the road. The hotel is very gracious. There is a lovely display of historic items off the lobby. It's easy on and off the highway, as route 11 runs parallel to I-81.

Interior rooms/baths are in need of updating but beds/bedding was comfortable. We were disappointed to find our interior "superior" room shared a balcony (see photo) with 2 other rooms but enjoyed the brief view we got before nightfall. Service in the tavern was prompt and courteous but prices were much higher than 4 & 5 star properties we usually stay in. Overall service from management, however, fell short of our expectations. Here's why . . .Our stay on 10/14/24 was not as pleasant as we had hoped for thanks to an excessively noisy night. We mentioned the noise to the front desk immediately after inspecting our room (interior with balcony), wondering if there was a wedding reception, an occupied banquet room or a band located immediately below our room. The young man at the desk assured us there wasn't anything like that happening but asked us to contact the desk if the noise continued. We enjoyed an appetizer and beverages in the hotel's tavern before retiring for the night. Our room was blissfully peaceful until the noise (loud music, multiple conversations, raised voices, laughter and the sound of furniture being moved about the room) resumed at midnight. Somewhere around 12:40am my husband called the front desk and asked them if they could do a room check and request that their other guests quiet down. If anyone from the hotel did anything it wasn't helpful. The commotion continued until 7am, when we finally made the decision to pack up and leave earlier than planned. We mentioned the noise again at check out, asking if the hotel didn't have established occupancy and/or noise limit policies that they could enforce. The desk clerk knew about the issue and mentioned that she had just seen the occupants of the room next to ours, as they checked out, but promised to speak with them when she saw them again. That left us wondering later if those guests frequent the hotel and regularly behave the way they did? At the military (discounted) rate of nearly $200 per night we think we will pass on any future stays at this property.Nearby activities: On the + side: The entrance to Natural Bridge Park and visitor's center is directly across the street.

The hotel is charming, clean, and comfortable. The staff is beyond amazing and exceedingly helpful. The surrounding area is gorgeous and the stay well worth the price.Rooms: Very comfortable and clean.Walkability: I’m disabled and the grounds were easy to navigate while walking my dog.Noteworthy details: There is an amazing amount of history available to look at adjacent to the hotel lobby.

The hotel is basically worse than a motor lodge at a truck stop. If I could give this motel a 0 - zero, I would. Bugs everywhere, musty smell, shower disgusting, simply by far the worse place I’ve ever stayed. I had to sleep in a chair afraid of the bugs. Stayed here with a team of folks everyone had bugs crawling everywhere. Do not stay here!

Please be aware of the section of the hotel you are booking. I booked a room in what was considered to be the motor lodge area. Immediately upon entering the room, my daughter's and I wanted to leave. The shower was equivalent to what you would find in a public rest room. The shower head had so much calcium buildup that it was unlikely to have worked and the size of the shower was very small, almost impossible to maneuver in. The toilet was barely large enough to sit on and covered in black mold. There were bugs and spiderwebs everywhere. The room smelled musty and the bedding was damp and drug on the dirty floor. The floor was not cleaned, dead bugs and crumbs all over. The doors were difficult to open and close. I explained the situation to the front desk staff who without question upgraded my family to another room located in the heart of the historical hotel. The room was significantly better, updated, clean and large with a beautiful view. The staff was accommodating and very sweet and the location was very convenient and beautiful.

Every time I see Wyndham slaps their name on a place, I know I can expect lipstick on a pig. This hotel is no exception. I had to unexpectedly stay here on my way home from Roanoke because a huge storm happened during my drive. At night, the lobby area looked regal and attractive. The front desk staff was friendly and nice. She promised me a room with a bathtub, but it ended up being just a shower. The room was nothing special. Just a haphazard update to a room with water stains on the ceiling, cords exposed. Just a room to stay in. The air conditioning had two functions. On or off, so it ran for the entirety of the night. In the morning when I went to check out, I noticed how strongly the lobby and restaurant smell of mold. Musty, dank smelling mold. Mold is not good for the workers or the guests. I would not stay here again if I return to the area. More and more, I am learning to avoid Wyndham's when searching for hotels.

We stayed two nights in a Veranda room. The room definitely needs an update. The room was musty smelling. There were stains on the bedding. The location was great for us. We ate at the red Fox tavern. The food and drinks were great. I wish I could give it a higher rating, but ultimately where you lay your head in the hotel is what matters, and the room was too dingy to give the hotel a higher rating.

My wife and I were disappointed in our accommodations. We were looking forward to staying in this beautiful historic building, full of warmth and charm. Instead, we were put in a separate building with very basic amenities. We may as well have stayed in a budget motel.
