Pawscienda is the nicest pet resort I have been to and I am so glad we found them. It’s immaculately clean, employees are so sweet, and my puppy absolutely loves going. Steve is an amazing trainer and I highly recommend any of his programs.

My only complaint is they are too busy! It does put the burden on the owner to be more mindful of planning and scheduling grooming needs in advance. They have treated both me and my 13 yo bichon with respect and I’ve been happy with the grooming and care he’s received so far. In my experience they’ve worked with me to find alternative groomers if they can’t fit me in and do call back in a timely manner if a message or inquiry is left. They do take well defined time off during the day so check website for hours and know that during those siesta hours they don’t answer the phone. They’ve consistently finished up faster than projected and I e been able to get my dog before the mid day break.

I don’t know about the pet resort part but my dogs get their grooming there. They are FANTASTIC! My cavalier goes right in and is happy to be there. Not like other places I’ve gone. Once you get on their schedule book out because this place is in demand due to their great customer service and grooming experience!

We can’t thank Stephan enough for transforming our dog Sully into a very well mannered, disciplined and trained dog. Stephen was so patient and kind to our family as we learned to help Sully. He is a master teacher! We highly recommend Paws Cienda. The facility is top notch! Very clean and lots of room for animals to learn and play. All staff seem happy and the vibe is so wonderful. There’s not another place like this in Richmond area. Thank you Stephen for an amazing job!!! Sully misses you already!

We have had the best experience working with Stephen, an incredibly talented dog trainer to train our littermate siblings, who can reasonably be described as Tasmanian devils all the time. Their littermate energy is INSANE!When I first met with Stephen, the first thing I told him was that I didn’t trust my dogs. Stephen trained me how to properly and SAFELY use e-collars on my pups bc I had never used e-collars on any other dogs I’ve rescued.Stephen’s patience with me was biblical, quite honestly. Compared to me, working with my Tasmanian devils was easy.I learned so much from Stephen, that I signed up for multiple training sessions. And on top of working with Stephen to obedience train our pups, we also have the pups enrolled in doggie day care at Pawscienda, have our pups kenneled at Pawscienda when we travel, and have our pups groomed at Pawscienda. Honestly, at every level of service we have always been impressed with all the staff, the philosophy that guides Pawscienda’s values and the wealth of expertise and experience they bring to not just our pups, but all the pups, kitties, and bunnies etc., entrusted to their care. Hands down the best dog daycare/ groomer in the Richmond area. Great prices, friendly staff.. Unique in the fact that you will never catch their staff glued to their electronics. We moved away (across country) and I constantly have to remind our dogs that we aren’t in “Kansas” anymore 😞 There truly is no other dog daycare like this, one of a kind.

We were referred to Pawcienda from a previous customer. We couldn’t be happier with our experience. We took our 8 month old rescue dog there for obedience camp with Stephen. The whole experience was wonderful. Stephen explained everything very clearly and showed us how to continue his training at home. We enjoyed that we were able to visit part way through his training and see his progress; but we were really impressed when we returned at the completion of the training to a well behaved dog. We are so happy with the results and will definitely recommend Pawcienda to anyone looking for dog training/obedience.

My experience with PawsCienda has been wonderful. The staff are always smiling, polite, and respectful. Adonis (my 3 year old rescue pit bull/shepherd mix), was in need of some guidance. He is a loving dog, but he was mostly guided by his nose, the next big chase and any/all distractions. I was worried it would get him into some trouble. I explained his situation to Stephen and he was able to schedule Adonis in the two week obedience training program. I was given weekly updates and felt comfortable with the progress Adonis was making. I decided to have him stay for another two weeks to focus on distractions and off leash training. I never felt any pressure to add the extra two weeks. Again, I was given detailed updates and all my questions were answered. On the last day, I was provided with the tools to continue the training at home. Adonis, Stephen, and all of the staff exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this program!

Our dog ended up dead because of Pawscienda. Do not take your pet here. They had a bad outbreak of Kennel Cough and treated it like nothing. I made them take our dog to the vet, and it was so bad he had to be rushed to VRCC for critical care. Two days later he died due to Pneumonia from Parainfluenza (the virus version of Kennel Cough). They did not do enough to prevent the spread of this deadly virus, and treated it like it wasn't serious. Necropsy results showed he had it for 6 days prior to death. Absolutely heartbroken and hope no one else ever has to tell their 3 year old his dog died.

We have brought our dogs here for a few years for haircuts and the occasional boarding, all of which were great. Then we decided to use them for training, and that is where our experience really was awesome. Our high energy dog needed some obedience training which involved a month of him living at Pawscienda and receiving daily sessions. The part that really made our experience great was the attention not only to our dog, but also to us, the owners. We did 2 training sessions, which first showed us what our pup was being taught, and most importantly gave us the opportunity to practice. It has been about a month since we picked up Scout, and while we are all still a work in progress, there is a clear difference in not only how he behaves, but also how he behaves around us. We are very thankful for the attention to detail, and desire to work with both the dog and owners. I highly recommend Pawscienda for grooming, boarding, and their obedience classes!

Outstanding grooming services! Resort-like reception area, friendly staff and outstanding groomer. My 13 year old Alaskan Malamute enjoyed her birthday spa/groom at PawsCienda today. Faith looked beautiful and happy when I picked her up .. smelled good too! Thanks for the birthday bandana. We’ll be back 🐾

We sent our dog dog for the training course and she returned so much better behaved! She listens better and learned a lot of new tricks. The staff was always professional and communicated with us throughout her training session. Pawscienda gave us all the tools to make sure she stays on top of her training. We will definitely be using them in the future.

We took our 7 month old Lab to PawsCienda while on vacation for two weeks. We were unfortunately thinking of re-homing her because we just couldn't get her to settle down. When we returned our dog was and still is AMAZING with her new learned and controlled behavior! She is so much happier and the pics they posted of our dog were so cute! Steve is the dog whisperer! We love him and the staff. He even worked with us! WELL worth every penny. We will return.

When I dropped off my 9 month old lab Lincoln to PawsCienda, he was wild. Walking on the leash was possible only with a harness, he knew the command sit (sort of...it was optional), he knew no other commands, barked in his crate when left at home, and was generally a typical high-energy lab puppy but with zero manners. While he has always been a sweet boy, he was getting rather unmanageable. Prior to bringing Lincoln to PawsCienda, Jeff spent over an hour on the phone with me discussing their training methods and philosophies, and answered the many questions that I had.In the middle of Lincoln's 4-week stay, Jeff generously accommodated my schedule and met with me on a Sunday afternoon to review Lincoln's progress so far and conduct some 'owner training'. It was an amazing transformation and his training time was not even complete- he was sitting, laying down, would stay, come and heel on command.After bringing him home when the training duration was complete, I have questioned on several occasions if I was returned the same dog. The benefits and improvements have far surpassed the results I expected. Not only does he eagerly and willingly listen to all commands - sit, stay, here, down, go to crate, heel- he is generally a more relaxed, happier dog. He stopped barking in his crate, chewing things. We have walked the neighborhood with other dogs and children and all sorts of temptations sans leash and he stays right by my side. I have been bragging to everyone about my 'new dog', and am over the moon thrilled with his behavior and the training results.PawsCienda accommodated my travel schedule as well and kept Lincoln longer than originally scheduled. He even had a bath earlier in the morning before I came to pick him up.I would HIGHLY recommend PawsCienda Pet Resort for training, boarding, or any other service they offer.

PawsCienda has great staff members, friendly, helpful, great with all our pets, cats and dogs. Some have needed meds when they've been boarded and I could always trust them to handle it, even with my very uncooperative cat. Our dogs love doggie daycare and the groomer is awesome!

I love Dogguard/Steven. The invisible fencing he put in for my four pit bulls is awesome. I cannot express enough how prompt courteous and helpful Steven and the staff at PawsCienda have been to me. One of my dogs is a serious digger and was able to break the wiring twice. I called Steven and he was out the same day to fix the wiring. If you are ever thinking of invisible fencing I would highly recommend it and having Steven install it.
