WOW !!!!!Hidden Gem Here!!!!We were Pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of service, and food.Katrina & Paul Rock 💕They were pleasant, jovial and so helpful with our questions. It was a duet of service. The menu had a good balance of items and great selection. Monterrey is a small town 200 population in the middle of the country. This diner had better options than most places in metro areas.It was spotless and they had fast service. My steak was cooked perfectly and the garlic seasoning was delicious. My wife had the roast beef sandwich it was also delicious and could feed 2 people. Their soups were Reaaaally Good, a Taco soup and a Kickin Cream of Crab that hit the spot. The deserts were numerous and unique. We had the chocolate explosion and a 3 layer maple berry, both were accompanied by homemade whipped cream 😋.Their coffee is on par with any specialty coffee shop.We thoroughly enjoyed our meals.Keep up the Great Work!Kid-friendliness: Upbeat family oriented fun atmosphere!

Pleasant surprise while out running the back roads of Virginia and West Virginia. Very inviting restaurant with lots of charm and a cozy atmosphere. The staff is friendly, warm and helpful; you feel like you have know them your whole life .The bbq pork is delicious, I got the platter and was pleased with everything. My husband got a bacon cheeseburger. The burgers are half pound patties so bring your appetite. We really wanted dessert; but, had no room!We look forward to stopping again should we be in the area.

Had a great lunch and the Lemon Berry Cake is wonderful! We drove 200 miles today to eat there! We love the ride up and great food. I had a huge tasty chicken wrap so big i had to take half home with me and the best fries! Their desserts are really great and we were given huge portion of cake!!Great people and great food!

Stopped in for dinner with my wife and grown children. It was a wonderful visit. Service staff were pleasant and responsive. We had fried mushrooms to start, then burgers (beef and vegetarian burgers), and I had the “Best DARN” meatloaf (which it was). Sides included fries (and a lot of them) and mashed potatoes and gravy. I also had a salad. Everything was excellent. Food was fresh, hot and tasted great. The family loved everything (and they could be on the discerning side). My regret was not leaving room for all the desserts!Would definitely return and recommend without reservation.Vegetarian options: Excellent veggie burger!

Cute restaurant. Food was amazing. Literally one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had. If you're a fan of ranch dressing, the ranch they have is delicious. Tried the Lemon Berry Cake, it did not disappoint. I would definitely eat here again. ❤️Kid-friendliness: Staff were very patient and helpful with my 9 year old who is incredibly particular. Very pleased with the service.

I cannot say enough great things about High's. Their food was so good, great portion size, and priced well. Additionally, the wait staff is so helpful, and patient! My nephew was being very particular with his dessert order and our waitress didn't blink an eye, only tried to work with him.She also was helpful and knowledgeable about whether items had gluten in them as I have celiacs. I ordered the smothered chicken (peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce) with coleslaw and a baked potato for my sides. We each got dessert after my friend ordered mountain berry cake, my nephew a double scoop ice cream cone, and I got the maple milkshake.

Vacationing nearby from VA Beach, VA and found this awesome eatery. Down home, mom & pop joint! Awesome servers. The food was hot and amazing. Hamburgers are huge! Home made cake by the slice on display! Nostalgic movie pics etc on every wall. You can leave your name and date on the wooden booth of your choice. Nothing back home like this! Thumbs up! 5 stars from us! Easter 2024

Excellent restaurant in the middle of Highland County, "Virginia's Switzerland". I have eaten here a few times on trips to Spruce Knob area, most recently last October. Food is delicious. Service is excellent even though they are sometimes short-staffed, and Katrina did a wonderful job last time. The best part, though, is the ice cream, specifically the cookie sundae. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through this beautiful part of the country. Make sure you ring the bell on the way out!Parking: Parking is on the street, but you are as close to the middle of nowhere as you can get in the Mid-Atlantic, so it is never a problem

Went to the 2024 Maple Festival, come lunch time I was very disappointed in them. They had a limited menu for $25. per person. Wasn't allowed to sit at a table only a booth. Food wise what I wanted to eat wasn't allowed to be ordered. I wanted a cheeseburger with their cobra fries. 😋 It was explained to me that the limited menu was only for the Maple Festival Week Ends. And nothing else could be ordered. WELL I'm not paying $25. for a meal I'm not wanting, just to eat. Way too many more vendors available. We left and so were other people especially with kids. Whom ever thought of this needs to rethink it. I'm there 1x a year and next year if this continues then bye bye. And we're probably not the only ones. I was told during these weekends you serve appropriately 500 meals per day..Well your cha ching for these weekends this year are probably are gong cha Chang. If you continue doing business this way.I love eating there, the food is very good, just a poor business decision.Just 1 more chance next year !!!
