We enjoyed our two weeks of peace and quiet here at Montebello. Certainly a great place to unplug, although we did get the starlink to work when we moved to a spot near the lake!We used our Passport America discount and I have to say this is probably one of the best value places we have ever stayed. A great spot to experience the blue ridge mountains and surrounding area. The roads in and out are certainly not for the faint hearted! Follow the instructions on the website! Thanks for having us Montebello Camping and Fishing!

Very nice campground. The small lake is nice for fishing and kayaking. The store is great and the employees are friendly and helpful. The camp manager was nice and gave us some great information on fishing the lake and does a great job keeping the facilities clean. We camped in the farthest walk in tent site and it was quiet and well maintained. The only thing with our campsite was that if anyone camped next to us we would have to walk through their site to get back to the car. I would recommend to anyone looking for a smaller quiet campground. Happy camping.

Our first visit to Montebello & we will definitely be back! Sites were beautiful & perfect for small to medium campers. Had to do a little work to level but no big deal. View of the lake from many sites & the fish were biting! Kids caught 7 trout in the trout pond & we fried them for dinner that night! It’s a very well-maintained campground but we really enjoyed how laid-back it is. A very nice combination of well-maintained while being laid-back. Some campgrounds we have found have camp hosts hovering over you constantly enforcing little rules that almost make it unpleasant. This was not like that at all. The camp host was great. He brought in the evenings wood to sell in case we needed any and was helpful when asked any questions. Whole experience was great. Can’t wait to go back.

Camped here for several days. Wasn't very many guests here while we were camping. Sites were plenty big and woodsy. Host was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Be warned... NO internet, cell service or cable in the area. You are cut off. You have to travel 10-15 minutes to get cell service. It was wonderful!!Great area to explore the Blueridge Parkway. Also, don't miss going to Crabtree Falls. It is part of the National Parks and well worth the steep climb to see the multiple cascade's. While steep the path is well maintained and doable. Even if you can't do the whole climb the base Falls are wheelchair accessible.

Pros: Spacious peaceful and quiet campsites, good people, bathroom is clean. Very good location, super close to Crabtree falls and horseback riding. Cons: Lake is smaller than I imagined. Sloped. Tricky to set up starlink. Store doesn’t have much. Overall a good experience, may suit you better.

We were looking for a RV park just days before the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. We had a brand new (3 weeks old) 2022 Airstream Atlas and wanted to get out and experience a nice RV Park. I called and they offered me a corner site that would easily fit my rig. My initial response when I saw the site, however, was how strangely it was laid out and how wet the ground was (puddles). It had rained heavily the day before. However, the space was very level and drained well and we soon adapted. We had to use a 50 ft water hose and we made it all work. We ended up loving the space and had great neighbors who shared in their RV experiences. Being in the far corner we had little traffic and grew to love the site (Site 10). The Country Store has everything we needed and we loved that they provided complimentary paddle boats and kayaks for the use of guests on the lake. The staff was extremely helpful and made our weekend getaway in our new RV extremely enjoyable. They even delivered firewood to our site. Walking trails were nice and it was fun watching young children catching their first trout from the stocked fishing pond. We had a terrific weekend, with a fire each night, great conversation and met some new friends. We will definitely be back!!!!

Awesome outfitter store! . Very friendly staff. I took the ladies some trout for the pond and it was great. Full pond of catchable size fish , perfect for dinner. The state Hatchery is literally next door which was fun to visit as well

Lovely and quiet! Sites are best for 21’ and under campers. We had site 19 right on the lake. It was great but you will need a 50’ hose for water hookup as it’s far away from the electricity hook up. I think it’s the only on like that. We only had a 25’ hose so we just filled our water tank and didn't hook it up. Site #20 is the best, # 18 was good too, and # 42 was good. The lake cabin looked pretty awesome if you’re wanting a cabin. The ladies shower/bathroom was clean, but I did t use it. Lots of people brought dogs, but that wasn’t an issue. Dump station was super convenient. The store at Montebello (where you check in) is amazing, and Appalachian horse adventures offers fantastic rides at reasonable prices (they are 5 min down the road). We used it as a base to ride our street bikes. We have a 19’toy hauler. The owners are friendly and on site. Everything made for a fantastic weekend 🙂

Every year we go on our church camp out we stop at the country store. It's a lovely place with wonderful people and full of unique and uncommon items! We picked up ginger and sassafras candies, old-style footlong Tootsie Roll and Charleston Chew bars, and Moon Pies. The store is full of quaint gifts, supplies, and other fun stuff to browse and buy. If you are nearby, you should stop in and see for yourself. In fact, you might even find it's worth a trip on it's own!The fall colors and the weather were splendid! It is on State Route 56 just a short distance from the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Hop in your convertible, put the top down, and take a road trip to Montebello, VA. You won't be disappointed. 😀

We just returned from a two night stay (Lakefront. site 20) at this lovely campground. We're retired and avoided the weekend so it wasn't crowded. We settled in and enjoyed the pretty fall foliage. It's a great place to camp and a good spot from which to explore the area.

We stayed for 3 nights and it’s absolutely beautiful there! We had Spy rock cabin and we’re impressed with how clean and beautiful the cabin is. Total of 5 of us stayed and were very comfortable. It was nice to detach from everyday stress and escape to this paradise and reconnect with one self. Linens were clean, fresh towels were given when asked. I recommend to bring your favor pot or pan or baking sheet if you plan on cooking there even though almost everything is already available in the cabin. Beds were comfortable. Staff at the country store were so sweet and helpful! The views are amazing. We had fun going on the paddle boat and kayaks! Even jumped in the lake!

We had a great time! We came in the winter so it snowed and it was beautiful. The cabin was so cozy and so cute. Nice staff and the general store has most things you'd need, plus some homemade goods and delicious maple syrup!

We stayed in one of the cabins. It was a great accommodation while on our road trip. Everything we needed for a family of four - small kitchen, three beds, little sitting area and a great front porch. Super clean! The owners were so friendly and helpful. The market had those few things we had fun out of or forgotten and some fun things to pick up and remember our travels.

We stayed in site 23 for several nights in our 24’ class c. It was a very quiet and calming experience. We stayed mid May 2021 and there was not a lot of campers so that added to the quietness. I would have given a 5 star if the sites were more level and if the bath house was heated. Overall the camp is very nice for what we paid, “ Passport American Discount”. The Country store is nice and so is the stocked pond for fishing.

Stayed here for the weekend in the winter in 7 ridges cabin. It was a great experience! There was a power outage, however, that was out of the control of the resort. The only thing I wished in this circumstance was that they had a gas powered fireplace. It looks like they used to but replaced it with an electric one. When the power goes out then, there's no heat source besides the gas stove. Also the beds are pretty uncomfortable, but it's hard to get a good bed in a cabin I feel like. All in all, these were only minor issues. The location is nice and off the grid in regards to Internet and cell service which was nice to force all of us to socialize and play games like the old days. The nature was beautiful. At night, you can see the stars so well... it was incredible. The cabin has a master bedroom and then a loft to sleep 5 total pretty well. There's also a nice porch that wraps around and then a loft balcony. The views of the mountains are pretty amazing as well. If you do need cell service, it's within reach about 3 miles up by the Blue Ridge Parkway. They also have satellite TV if you wanted to connect a little bit back to reality :) There's also a few good hikes easily within reach, only a few miles away for some. Many more within 10-15 miles. I also took a walk around the campground which is currently closed for winter, but it looks decent. There's many sites, most with power so I think it's catered more to trailers and RVs (many are 30amp but a few 50amp as well). The sites are very close together which with tents might not be the best scenario but with trailers/RVs, it's probably ok. There is a pond right there too that's visible from most sites. And there is a bath house, not sure about showers though. I plan to come back for the summer and check it out! There's also a camp store that's open until 5pm and everyone was so helpful and friendly. This place is a bit of a drive, but worth it and recommend this for your next camping adventure!

No wifi! No cell service!... I love it!Perfect place to go and get completely disconnected from work and RELAX.Coming from about 5 hours south, the drive up is beautiful through the mountains. My dad and I meet half way here since we live in different states now, and this month it will be the 2nd time we've gone. Hopefully turning it into a tradition!Beautiful camp ground if you want to tent or RV camp. Awesome cabins if you want to glamp. Fully stocked store for food and stuff too.

We stayed here June 17th to June 20th it was an amazing 4 days here! The campground is beautiful and peaceful. A great place to disconnect from cell phones and the world! The country store where you check in the people were so friendly and helpful! No cell phone svc so I could check in my car in repair shop while gone they let me use their phone. So sweet knowing we weren’t from there. We had site 33 which was a nice size site and lake view. Clean facilities and hot water. Storm came through the first night and the camp host were so nice to come around and let people know when power was restored. I would definitely recommend this place and I’ll definitely beComing back. Took a popup and our fur babies.

We spent two nights at this privately owned campground. Quiet hours were supposed to be 11pm - 7am. Neither the owners or camp host did anything to enforce these hours. A very large group partied past 2am both nights. They all “spoke” by yelling, played loud music, fought, and cussed with small children present. This group apparently comes every year which leads me to think that the quiet hours are never enforced. If you are interested in getting zero sleep and never hearing the sounds of nature, you’re at the right place. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because it was clean.

My husband and my two daughters stayed in the lake view cabin for the weekend. It was spacious with plenty of activities in the campground to keep us all busy. We will definitely be returning for more family fun. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

My husband and I enjoyed 2 nights at this campground everything was well kept, clean and there were many things that you were able to do right at the campground. A wonderful country store across the street where you check in, prices were very good an if you need some basic groceries. They also carried gasoline which is always nice. Very friendly and helpful. We hiked on the campground property an took this picture.

Nice campground but rough roads throughout. Lot of trees & shade. Laundry room was not very clean. Camp Hosts were GREAT and helpful with directions to / from park. VERY WINDING & NARROW ROAD TO GET THERE !!! Would not recommend for larger than 30 ft RV's. Sites can be tricky getting into.Beautiful area though !

Had a great time this past weekend at Montebello! Very nice campground with friendly staff. The store is fun and employees gave great suggestions on things to do closeby.Note: there is no Verizon cell service until you're closer to the Parkway. Definitely follow the recommened driving directions on the website! Those roads are no joke.

Nice little campground in the mountains of SW Va. I’ll say up front I’m rating it 3 stars for lack of Wi-Fi. No cell service in the area isn’t something that they can help. It is a great campground if you want to truly go dark and get off the grid (phone wise). Beautiful scenery and 2 great fishing ponds. The RV sites aren’t really level but some creative leveling work you’ll be fine. Anything over 30 feet is going to be tough due to tight sites and lanes. They do have a few big rig friendly sites but those were occupied by seasonal campers. Go to Devils Backbone if you want a site with more room. All in all, I would go back knowing what to expect and letting folks know you’ll be out of Comms for the duration.Edit: Updated my review to 5 stars after some reflection. We camp to get off grid and this is the place to do it. I didn't intend to cast any aspersions in my initial review up front, just letting folks know who need to be connected. This campground is definitely a jewel on the Blue Ridge Parkway and worth your patronage.

Love this campground! Host is very friendly and helpful. Camp store is great with nice souvenirs, jams, local beer and wine. No internet or phone service, but you don't miss it. A lot of great hikes nearby. Have been several times and will be back.
