Convenient yard & garden center with good selection & inventory of products, and nice, friendly staff that are generally knowledgeable about their departments. While Southern States is a chain, it's not like the big box stores and does have a much nicer "family-business" vibe.

Incredibly helpful staff. If you need any help with anything concerning your lawn, including pests, shrubs and trees, this place is for you. Glenn is very knowledgeable and friendly and will definitely brighten your day. This place is way better than a big box store.

I always find more than I need here. The service is warm. All the attendants are willing to assist you with any and everything that you can possibly imagine. It's never an issue. Thank you, Southern States, for just being a breath of fresh air each and every time I stop by.

Everyone is always ready to help, if they don’t know the answer they will find an expert that does. I was able to show them an issue with my maple tree, they knew the issue and offered a couple different remedies.

I can't tell you the many times I've stopped in here to have the friendly and kowledge staff help recommend the right products to grow and save my yard and garden. Every visit is a very positive experience and I trust the suggestions given to me by the associates.The live plants they sell are very healthy and the tools/hardware are high quality. The majority of the lawncare products they sell cannot be found at any other big box store, including pest control, plant nutrition, and weed control. They really stand behind the products they sell.

The staff were all friendly. It's a good place to go for your outdoor needs. The prices have gotten a little high. $9 for a bale of straw and $16 for corn stalks, ouch.

I visited this store to get 2 mums at 5:30 PM on august 22nd. When I got up to the checkout the cashier, an older white lady with short hair, had already shut her register down for the day and wanted to make sure I knew it (even though other customers were shopping in the store still). She sighed and huffed loudly, rolled her eyes at me, and slammed her rag down. When I said hello to her she didn’t even respond. I left my mums and went to another nursery where they actually want to serve customers.

Update: I've bought more chickens this year. It's been pretty crazy buying chicks from everywhere. This is my go to store for feed for all my animals, and I love the fact that they give the military discount.I have bought 23 chicken from here spanning three different weeks. I only lost one despite giving her water every 30 mins with an eye dropper. The other chickens are in excellent health. They have such a wide variety of chicks with a chance of laying so many different egg colors. I love the fact that the people that are in charge of them are super knowledgeable. I've had chickens when I was little, but that was a very long time ago, and they've helped me out without making me feel stupid. Definitely would recommend getting chickens from here.

Friendly service. They didn't jump right on me when I walked in the door and let me check things out before approaching me. I really like that. Employees were available if I needed them and when in did they were happy to assist and get me exactly what I needed. Also it was nice to see an assortment of products that weren't at Lowe's or home depot. I need a specific item that those stores didn't carry but southern states did.

I found staff very helpful and would walk me to where items were that I asked about. All staff were wearing masks when I was in there 4 months ago. Unique gifts, great rain boots, beautiful assortment of plants and flowers. Pansies I bought there still have flowers and haveweathered beautifully; compared with those I bought elsewhere last year.

The customer service was awesome. They were very helpful. I went in needing something to get rid of the ants in my house and the rep was great at showing me what they had as well as recommending a product. They also took the time to talk with my children and show them the baby chics that were in the store.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Do not trust any information told to you over the phone (regarding inventory, prices, or availability). Beware talking to the staff; if there is an issue they will make it out to be your fault, or ignore you.I called about a specific type of tree to check the availability multiple times. The staff offered to take my number and call me when it was available. After several months I called back and found out the tree was available. It was smaller than I wanted so I again left my number when they prompted me to.Last week I went there and lo and behold! The tree was there; I was very happy and purchased it. While fitting the tree into my car, an employee came to brusquely check my receipt to see if I had actually paid for it. This felt weird to me as I had walked through the store multiple times and had received help (and paid for it!!).I brought up that I had been looking for that plant for almost a year and had left my number and received no call and then got berated about how the employee I was speaking to had had a surgery and couldn't call anyone. That is a tragic situation and absolutely none of my business, but could have been handled much better.If your employee who calls people is out, don't have the rest of your store offering(!) to call people. And then, maybe apologize to the customer for not calling them as offered and not try to make them feel guilty because you had a personal issue.All on top of being treated like a shoplifter (it's hard to picture how outlandish this situation was -- I had been in the store for almost forty mintues, had gotten help in the nursery, told an employee in the nursery I was going to buy the tree and got help getting the tag off to take to the register, walked the hundreds of yards to the register and back with the tag and then receipt (past employees the whole time), then walked the tree to my car, all in an almost empty store.I walked to my car and Then had someone get in my face and demand to see some paperwork. I even had to move back because although the employee was wearing a mask they though standing 18 inches away was appropriate).

This is a good place to visit if you need to bridge the gap between your nearest home DIY shop and a full on farm supply retailer. I can't speak to the competence of the staff, as I was never approached during my time while shopping, and they seemed to be overwhelmed. Maybe I was just shopping during a busy time, but customers were becoming a bit vocal with their frustration at the slow check out process. Well, prior to checkout, I was able to find some items not normally stocked at my local DIY store, and had the ability to keep a level head about a bit of a wait at the checkout. In the end I had found some deals on items I don't regularly find nearby. I would recommend a visit, even after checking them out online. You may be rewarded.
