Two very helpful employees took the time today to put together the largest cat tower (“lookout loft”) that Petco (on Rittenhouse Dr in Midlothian VA) sells to see if I was still interested in buying it - which I was. They then proceeded to help load it into our SUV - no small feat because of the size of the loft - and did all of this very professionally-Thank you, both! I wish I had gotten your names & just wanted to let you know that our newly adopted kitty, Toby, seems to be taking to it - fingers crossed!

Took my 12 week old puppy for grooming our groomer Gigi was so amazing. Very gentle, loving. She loves her job and you can see it as she works and in the end result.

Purchased 29 gallon aquarium and it was amazing in terms of quality. The services is good but staff lacks knowledge or expertise about aquatic stuff and they wont provide you any information!Return policy is just amazing as they accepted dead fish and staff is quite humble ! good experience

I ordered 3 different items online and only 1 was correct. The reason I went to that particular store, which was twice the distance for me, was because they " had " all the items. One of the 2 was able to be swapped out for the correct item, but the other was out of stock. Cats do not like changes in their food.

Unless you are able to walk in and pick out what you need on your own, without any assistance, you might be fine. That is, if they are in stock of what you need. Otherwise, you will never find a worker who can help you and you will find way too many boxes, full of inventory, shoved in more than half of the back aisles. It’s a hoarders labyrinth!Side note, the grooming salon seems great, I consider them the best thing about the location.

This is our “usual” Petco, and it is fantastic! The employees are amazing - we love all the friendly and chatty associates, manager Becca, and new groomer Gigi. She even gave our dog a little facial trim (after asking, of course) even though all we’d paid for was a nail package. So thoughtful. This is definitely the best-stocked store in the area, and the bathrooms are always clean. The pet cleaning stations are always stocked, and they even have paper dog bowls by the water fountains! Finally — dog trainer Jessi is AMAZING. The dog whisperer! Her classes are worth every penny and more - AND she’s super knowledgeable about the store’s products! We’ve bought and loved many of them! Thank you for everything, Rittenhouse Petco!

I have given this place so many chances, but the customer service is awful. I just attempted to buy 3 bags of rabbit hay because a sign said “buy 2 get 1 free”. It didn’t come up when I checked out and the manager comes out and yells from his office door “that’s old. We aren’t doing that anymore”. I worked customer service many years and we would’ve never done that. I pay extra for a vital care membership and I’m not sure why anymore. I’ll be canceling and switching to chewy. The cashier was nice, not his fault at all. Poor management.

Shout out to Sebastian!!! Good work young Man!!! Not only did he represent Petco very well with the great customer service but he was really looking out for the pet we recently purchased and my daughter's best interest. He was very helpful from the jump, we approached him with a question and he had a solution, started out by walking us around the store to make sure we were comfortable with our purchase we were about to make and that our new pet would have the best habitat we could possibly offer him. His knowledge of the process of purchasing a pet that had been returned because its male counter partner was very territorial and showed a lot of dominance that it had to be under special treatment before being available to the public again, to what to feed and the advice on how to care for this particular animal was outstanding. He is a true young generation asset to Petco. The customer service and work ethic that he showed today...... I wish it could be shown and offered everywhere within the younger generation today. The States and possibly the World has a chance if we had people like this everywhere. Thanks Sebastian!!

I tried to make an online order 2 of the same items a Jean jacket onesie for my toy poodle and then Petco canceled the order I then called customer service who didn’t know why it was canceled. Then they reordered got off the phone after they assured me that they knew what they were doing it wouldn’t cancel again so I get off the phone within a few minutes I get an email it was canceled again. So I call customer service support again get a hold of a second customer service representative and went through this whole mess again just wait for it…. It was canceled again. Four times my order was canceled so they told me they’d call me back within 24 to 48 hours and that really upset me so I go to Petco and I find the item 1 of the items in the store so I purchased it. After this I called Petco customer service and told them don’t bother cancel the order all together. This happened to me several weeks ago as well but I thought surely they’d work all the kinks out by now but nope then today I get an email they were sending me one from up north hello and they charged me shipping along with the one item they’re sending to me. Oh did I mention when I purchased the one found in the store they charged me $34.99 that was on sale. Online $11.00 so when I walked out got a mile down the road I called customer service and said this is ridiculous and I turned around and went back to the store and told them either you take this and exchange for the online price or you can return it back to the shelf and refund my money. I feel as though they don’t care about over charging you for an item and honestly if I hadn’t seen it online I wouldn’t have known. Always check online if they can’t match it leave it. Petco you will continue to lose customers if you continue these practices!

Came in this morning for reptile supplies and the ball pythons for sale are in very poor health. They should not be on aspen bedding and their humidity level definitely should not be at desert level these animals need a humid environment. I was told corporate tells them to use aspen bedding, the gauges in the tanks don’t work and that they wish they could help the animals but can’t per corporate rules. Stop selling reptiles if you are going to neglect them. There was one yellow snake that was skin and bones looking she wad dying. Another with stuck shed, they all looked in distress. Petco, you should ashamed of yourselves for treating animals like this.

So far we've had a wonderful experience with the Petco grooming department at this location. COVID-19 safety protocols are observed here during the pandemic, and that's very reassuring. Cindy also was very conscientious about getting the proper grooming styles for both our dogs, Nathan and Ruby. Since Nathan is a toy poodle, she asked me very specific questions about the style of cut to give him. Both dogs now are overdue for another grooming appointment, and we look forward to their same day appointments coming up soon!

Corporate Greed at its finest!!!! After finally getting someone to ring me up I overheard the cashier talking to the lady that was behind me in line. She had 4 or 5 small items and he asked her if she wanted a bag and that if she did Virginia now charges you $.10 for single use plastic bags. As a very informed citizen I questioned what he told her. He reiterated that it was Virginia Sate Law. When myself and the lady he was waiting on questioned him he doubled down on the notion that is was new Virginia State V LW effective in November. This absolutely NOT TRUE! He equated it to Aldi charging for bags which is not compatible. Aldi’s corporate policies on this are very transparent and as customers we know if we forget our reusable bags that we have the option to buy paper bags or reusable shopping bags. Single use plastic bags are definitely an issue in this country but Petco trying to make some extra money off it’s customers and blaming it on a non exist State law is just wrong! They assume we are all uninformed and believe every greedy lie that corporate America feeds us. I thought you guys are in business to help animals not your bottom line!

Leslie is a really talented and kind groomer. She always treats my senior dog with love. She does a nice job with his cut and always makes sure to do a consultation before grooming. I feel safe leaving my sweet boy in her care.

I went to pick up my order and apparently they decided to just throw a note on the door that they were closed. Why was my order ready for pick up then? I drove to this location as soon as I got my email. I ended up wasting gas and picking it up a few days later. AWFUL

The associates were friendly and helpful in finding what I was looking for. They opened up another register when the line began to form which was extremely kind to all the customers. My puppy was happy walking around in the store so if she's happy I'm happy.

Hands down, this is the best Petco in the Richmond area; from Southside to Short Pump and inbetween. There's been many times I've frequented several locations within the same day. Time after time and everytime, I'm not only greeted but there's always a friendly team member willing to help - in my experience, no matter the department. Clean environment, neat & well stocked. Definitely set apart from the rest.

The petco location off Hull Street by Kroger and Guitar Center is terrific for one reason….their wonderful customer service person, Peyton! He made my day yesterday! I watched him check out all the customers ahead of me and he went above and beyond to ensure everyone had what they needed and that prices and sales were rung up correctly. He knew his store and took pride in it and having worked and managed retail for so many years in my earlier career days, it was so nice to see someone with terrific customer service and people skills. Please keep hiring people like Peyton!

I have gone to this location several times trying to figure out my filter situation for my turtle pond. Both times that I have left with canister filters that I was guaranteed would work have either been broken or had missing parts (or filters that only work being under an aquarium) even when they opened the box and said they were making sure all the parts were there, I still got home and found one key part missing. I have now spent over $330 dollars trying to get this working. Their so called “expert” upsold me to a $200 filter and I did it because I was told it would not give me headaches. Get home and the pump is broken and it is only meant for under aquarium usage. I have showed them pictures of the pond so they know exactly what it is and still keep selling me the wrong product.

I have bern there twice recently. You had what I wanted, but i had a terrible check out experience. The first time they had to call twice to get someone to checkout.The second time, there were at least 10 people in line. And it took until I was all the way up to the counter before they opened a second checkout.I will go to a different pet store next time. There is a Petsmart very close by the Petco.
