I really appreciated their effort to write about each cats personality (which is what made us come visit her asap). We are so happy with our decision to bring this adorable baby to our home. If your pet gets surrendered here, good luck. My parents wrongfully took my cat Pete in while I was on vacation without me knowing. I’m in the process of moving out of state. I called and asked about Pete as soon as a heard he was taken in. I was TOLD to come in after he had been neutered so that I could collect him. Once I showed up to the facility, I was told the opposite. Even though Pete was MY cat that my parents had no authority to surrender, that means nothing. I put in an application and explained what had happened, even BEGGED. I was denied even the right to see him. How is it that the cat that I am the owner of has “a better home” than the one he was already in? Who I assume to be the director left me a message telling me she cannot “in good faith” return Pete to me and that he would be euthanized if need be. The business practices of this facility are questionable at best. My cat was stolen from me and I was told I can’t have him back because of my parents as a grown adult. Pete is being kept from a safe, loving home that he knows. They never bothered to ask any information about his home or how he is treated and cared for. This whole business needs new staff.

Are there cameras in the shelter? Because the director is so rude I tried to adopt a dog and she said How do I know that you are not going to abuse him. Also I think it is messed up that they ask what country you are from.this director is racist and I think she should get fired.

This organization and its people are very good at taking care of the animals in their charge. What they are short of is voluntary help and money and food for these animals. Something as simple as walking/playing around with the dogs and cats or offering to clean their cages can help the staff..

I had the worst experience here I went to take my cats to get vaccinations. The Director was so rude she said and I quote and it came out of her mouth that if don't nutter my cats she won't let them in her clinic anymore because she said they are too populated with so many kittens. But I as a cat owner don't want to get them nuttered yet and I shouldn't be forced to nutter them in order to get service and she is not the one taking care of my cats I am. I will get them nuttered when I want not when I'm forced.

In November 2007 we got our Lucy from here. She had been dumped at the shelter twice. She was 2 and a 1/2 when we got her The week after Thanksgiving.We were her 3rd and final home. She had separation anxiety I'm sure from being dumped. We took our time with her and finally found that she needed a friend and we got her a puppy. We had her until January 14th 2016 when she passed away from a tumor. She was one of the best dogs we've ever had. She was the best Mommy to the pup that we got her. They were inseparable. The shelter was great checking in on her. We Got phone calls for the 1st year checking to make sure everything was OK. My girls loved Lucy. Lucy loved everybody. Best experience ever.

Very nice place, staff was very helpful and you can tell they love their jobs. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Please consider adopting a pet from the SPCA if you and your family are considering a new family member.

One of the best shelters in N. Va. I've done a lot of rescue work and have had to deal with poorly-run facilities with sick animals. Always happy to adopt from this place plus they have a great low-cost spay/neuter clinic. Pic is of Dewy, adopted 2 years ago.

Worst place to adopt from. DONT ADOPT FROM THESE PEOPLE. Front desk lady told me to fill out an application for a dog.i did while doing that, she'd told me he had several approved applications on him already. She then went around the corner and called a friend or family member. She tried to whisper her conversation but was unsuccessful at it. I overheard her telling the person to come get the dog because he had approved applications on him but that she personally wanted this dog to go to whomever was the phone. The person was not able to come and get the animal today. But instead stated that they would be able to come and pick up the animal this weekend on Saturday. I then heard the woman employee tail. A male employee in a whisper ring voice that the dog is supposed to be picked up on Saturday and going home with the individual that she just spoke to on the phone. What I don't understand is why this place would have people come in and do applications on the dog, But yet the employee at the place is openlingly contacting their personal family or friends to come and get an animal.

The truth is that I have a bad impression of this place, we recently went to apply to adopt a puppy, they never told us that we did not qualify for it, it is disappointing because you expect to receive a call saying no, you are not suitable to have this puppy, you should have a little more professionalism and apart from everything I imagine that they gave the dog to another family since it is not available now, if things are like this I honestly do not recommend this place they disrespect you without any consideration

This shelter is awesome! The staff are very personable, and the prices are much cheaper than your average vet. They've always been upfront with me and break things down so it's easy to digest. Planning ahead is key as slots fill up fast.

We adopted the most perfect dog at Fauquier SPCA 4 years ago. The staff was very in tune with the animals they care for and did a great job helping us with our sweetheart, Shadow. I highly recommend this shelter. They do an excellent job facilitating meetings with potential owners and future adoptees (fur children). We recently lost our angel, Shadow, and plan to return to Fauquier SPCA in hopes of finding another perfect fur baby to love.

We had acquired a lot of rawhide chews fur dogs. Our dog can't eat them as they upset his stomach. We were looking for a no-kill dog rescue nearby and found the Fauquier SPCA. Called them and they said they'd be happy to take the chews.We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It's a lovely facility with lots of open suave and a large meet & greet area fur potential adopters. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We wandered around just to see what the had. Lots of cats, 20 or so dogs, no puppies that we saw. The also have a small petting zoo with 2 goats and a potbelly pig. There are treats right outside the petting zoo for free to give the zoo critters.If we're ever looking for a new dog we'll stop here first.

Kind folks that took the time to let me look at stray cats and kittens when I was looking for my furry baby. They said they didn't have him, but we're happy to let me see for myself. They were all very kind and helpful during this difficult time. I appreciate their kindness very much. The place looked nice too, clean and no odors.

I used the spay/neuter clinic. They were very professional and friendly. I dropped off my kitty at 8 am and picked him up at 2 pm. The cost cannot be beat. Thank you for taking good care of Littlebit.

We went to look at a dog that we were interested in adopting. The person helping us with the dog was on his cell phone for the majority of the time we were there. After waiting a few days we were told we don't qualify for the dog. I don't know what they are basing this on but it is obvious they don't know what they are doing. I have adopted from this shelter in the past but after my most recent visit I will never go back there again nor will I recommend them.

I was given a dog that was supposed to be a lab , It was not and she is high energy and very strong . I have to have a double knee replacement and can not keep the dog. After almost 4 weeks of them putting me off they agreed to take her,after mu fiance left a message , yhey were extremely nice and waited for me to fill all the paper work to surrender the dog on paper and pay a $75 fee, then they had me pull around back(mind you I have tried to find a home for 6 months before surrendering) when I went around back the director proceeded to talk to me and my daughter like dirt. Very disrespectful and uncaring of the circumstances, I wanted to take the dog and leave but had already filled out the papers. She yelled at my 20 year old daughter calling her a little girl that can't handle a dog. She proceeded to threaten to call the cops. Then grabbed my car door handle ,all while I am in tears,she absolutely got off on belittling a grown woman who has a dear friend to burry tomorrow . I am disgusted in the directors behavior and lack of sympathy ,compassion and understanding. There is no question in my mind why people end up dumping their dogs in Fauquier county( ends up costing the animal control extra money in Fauquier.)She is an unethical mean person and surely wish for the universe to give back to her what she gives. Very sad miserable human, hope the devil has fun with her.

**This rating is nothing to do with the animals they have**I went twice over the last week, first time to check out if any cats gave me the vibe I wanted. And the second time I came back was to get the cat after a few days of thought.Well, my first visit, I had 10+ workers snap at me telling me to keep my child’s fingers away from the cage, and I get it- I really do. But everytime they told me that my child wasn’t even near the cages for a dog or cat to bite. It just felt like they were assuming I wasn’t paying attention- but I was! So that ran me out of the spca because they just were all so rude.When I went today, sadly the cat I wanted had just been adopted- and that’s okay!! But I figured I’d walk around and try to find if any other cats gave me the vibe I wanted. None really did expect one and this cat liked her hammock, so after 15 or so minutes of pets, she was showing us she wanted more but was nervous. So we slowly were getting her out of the hammock and as SOON as we did- a worker walked in panicking and put her back in the hammock and shut the whole cage and told us to leave the room. So good luck when someone wants to actually adopt this cat and you have to get her out of the hammock. Absolulty ridiculous you’d react that way. So I will find other shelters nearby and hope to find my vibin kitty !

We got our ginger kitty from here and he's the most gentle/calm cat our family and friends have ever seen. He was already neutered, given a flea shot, litter trained, etc. It was a little annoying trying to apply for him cuz it seemed like they didn't want to give him but it's great because they just want to make sure the cat has a good life. Staff was very nice and the place is clean and beautiful.

We fostered a extremely abused puppy who needed to be neutered & microchipped but my vet wanted almost $500. I called the Fauquier SPCA and set him up for both. They were so gentle with him and did a wonderful job at a fraction of the cost. I would recommend them to anyone who needs these services. P.S. We ended up keeping the dog.

The director is very unprofessional. She called me and yelled at me on the phone for needing to surrender my cat. After the way she spoke to me over the phone I am not comfortable bringing my cat back there. Very rude and very unprofessional
