Well-stocked farmer's market. Thoroughly enjoyed the quiet scenery to perusing through the various wares on display. Ice cream cones and lunch items are also available for the hungry family. There is also a lovely cat. Automatic 5 stars for this.

Oh Wow I Can't Say Enough About This Place. We Ate Good. The Deli Is Awesome!! We Purchased a Whole Kitchen Full Of Cast Iron Cook Wear, And About 15 Or 20 Case Pocket Knives. They are the Biggest Dealer in The Area With The Best Selection. We Wanna Say An Extra Thanks To Terry For All The Help And Direction. We Are Looking For Property In VA These Folks Are So Friendly We Have Chosen Meadows Of Dan or The Surrounding Area To Be Our New Home. Hope To See U Soon. This Is A Great Place To Stop And Stretch Your Legs Eat and Shop A Little.

We have been here multiple times. In the past, the store has had a wonderful selection of many items from native American to handmade quilts to candy and food items. They have homemade fudge and sell ice cream by the scoop. They also have a grill and many other neat things to look at and purchase.I am deeply heartbroken that the federal and state governments have decided to demolish the surrounding mountains to put in a new highway system as this was always a beautiful drive to Lover's Leap and Meadows of Dan.

this place is SO cute and has soooo many goodies! they deserve all the business, but there were too many people inside at once and no one knew how to make a line, so it was very disorganized for the cashiers trying to ring people up. we ended up leaving without getting to buy anything because it would have taken an addition 10-20 minutes to check out. :( so if you come here, just be prepared for some wait times. everything looked and smelled delicious tho! (also, if you get gas here, please move when you’re finished getting gas, there are only two pumps and someone stayed parked in-front if one of the pumps without pumping gas. we went across the street to get gas and the car was still parked at the pump when we finished.)

My husband has raved about this place for many years! His Dad and him used to go there a lot while working in the area over 14 years ago just to get the homemade apple pies! He told me that a lady would sit outside in the front in her work area and make them from scratch and they couldn't eat enough of them! Today, we took a ride up on the bike in the mountains and stopped there. We were told the same lady makes the pies and drops off a batch a day and sometimes twice a day. I tried them and WOW! They are delicious!! They were gone fast!! From talking to others that visited, my husband is not the only one who goes there for those pies! I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to meet her but want her to know this family loves the fruits of her labor!!The staff is very friendly here! The restaurant part, which I ordered a chicken bacon sandwich and my husband ordered hotdogs from, were also delicious!! The warm apple cider was perfect on this cool day to warm me up!The store has a lot of different things to offer. Everything from beans & jams to skillets & toys!Apples, tomatoes, pumpkins and etc. are being sold outside. This is a True Country Store! Love it! Highly recommend stopping in here!

I went for food from the deli. I got a sub sandwich and banana pudding. Both were delicious. Nice variety of foods. Sandwiches are made while you wait. There’s a deli case full of chilled items like potato salad, macaroni salad, etc along with several types of delicious desserts. Also, made in store brownies and other baked desserts. The store has old-timey items like country ham, every type of jelly you can think of and big barrels of dried beans. They carry a nice selection of fresh produce (a lot is straight from the orchard or farm). There is such a variety of items available you need to allow plenty of time to wander around the store and look at everything.

Went for breakfast. The young lady that waited on us was wonderful and sweet. The only problem was that we ordered bacon and egg sandwiches and recived sausage and bacon sandwiches. The young lady repeated the order and it was correct. But was not what was recived. We were already back road so we didn't turn around.

It's a great stop after visiting Mabry Mill. Lots of neat trinkets, local art and home made foods, such as honey, moonshine jelly, bear jelly, pepper jelly, amish cheeses, and the like. Knives and souvenir t-shirts and other things abound. The store is decorated in a country theme. Neat Native American statues I love from my childhood that are now culturally questionable, but don't let that stop you. The store also has a deli restaurant with outdoor seating. As you can see by the Mr. Bear photo, masks are required or at least encouraged inside during the pandemic. The wife and I had the Poor Farmer's Sandwich, the no.1. We also had a fried apple pie each and they were extremely delicious. I want to come back here just for that. The apple filling was great, but I'm most impressed with the breading, which was like some sort of sweet cake cornbread, crisp and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Reminded me a little of a home made donut, except with apple pie filling. I could eat that without the apple pie filling and that's saying something. Another customer recommended their hotdogs, which I suppose I'll have to try on our next visit.

This is such a gorgeous hidden gem! We loved taking a trip up here and getting tons of souvenirs, crystals, jewelry, candy, and drinks! They also have a little restaurant attached, but we had already eaten so didn’t get to try that. I love this little shop!

There's so much stuff to see here that you won't find anywhere else! From good food, produce, snacks, jams and jellies to cast iron cookware, novelty items, gifts, and more. There's something for everyone here! The gentleman working cash register was very friendly and helpful, and had excellent customer service as well!

We love this place, we stop everytime and sometimes come to Meadows of Dan just to go here. The Fried Apple pies made on site are a must have. The selection of produce, cheese, apples are excellent at excellent prices. And they have a huge selection of books by local writers. Also check out Concird Store just 2 building down.

The wife and I was there yesterday and we bought some produce, fried apple pies and preacher cookies. They call them No Bake Cookies, but I grew up having them called Preacher Cookies. They were really good, just like what my Mom and Grandma used to make. The atmosphere here is just so laid back and relaxing. It was really busy but all the employees were smiling and greeting customers. This is one of the greatest places, we Love stopping here when we are in Meadows of Dan. I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed

Great place to stop if you are just driving by or for the Grill/Deli to fill up after hiking, be sure to reward yourself with one of their homemade desserts. My first Poor Hillbilly after a hike has had me coming back for a couple decades. They also carry some of the best mountain produce in the summer & fall. Crops & fruits from orchards that thrive in the colder climates that the piedmont lacks. My favorite part may be the books. Wide selection of regional history with many signed additions. I have stopped here enough not to be a tourist but I still buy T-shirts & gifts for people.

One of the most unique & friendliest places in Meadows of Dan to visit. Fresh, local produce outside. Inside, you'll find everything from local made jams, jellies & wines to cast iron cookery. (And everything in between🤗) Be sure to grab a sandwich or some ice cream from the deli in the back. They also have a variety of homemade desserts.

Love this precious store! Great finds include unique jewelry, local authored books, local ground grits, local jams, cast iron cookware, the freshest produce, antique mini stoves, hand crafted wood furniture all served with great customer service from a lovely gentleman. You can even get gas while you're there! If you're on the Blue Ridge Parkway you should make it a point to stop in Meadows of Dan for this little place:)
