If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Best meatball sub I've ever eaten. Hubby had the baked spaghetti and said it was fantastic. Cool atmosphere and great service along with reasonable pricing. We just might have to grab a pizza on our way out of town! We are in town for a quick & quiet getaway and feel we found quite a gem, not only in the area, but in Salty Dog Pizza. Hope to visit again someday.

Great pizza, ingredients are fresh, dough had great crust and soft on the inside and sauce had a salter taste than sweet (a sweet sauce is gross). Will definitely be going back. Customer service was friendly and atmosphere was inviting.

First visit here today. Outstanding!!! You MUST check this pizzeria out if you're in Mathews VA. BRICK OVEN. Everything super tasty. The focaccia bread was delicious. Loved the marinara, basil pesto dip was fresh, and the buttery garlic was smacking good! The steak and cheese was toasted nice and crunchy like I like it! The onion rings were thick battered too. I can't say anything bad about the food at all. Definitely will put this on repeat for future visits.

Brought my kid in and 'loopTV' was on. I had to cover my kids eyes and we ended up sitting outside. Two other women in there with me felt just as uncomfortable to be watching soft core with my kids. Artist was Cardi B and Jennifer Lopes. Idk the song but the video should not have been shown in a place kids can go. Pizza was good but suggest ordering pickup.

Delicious pizza. My daughter loves the big pepperonis on her pizza. Bbq wings were very good. Didn’t have to wait. Called ahead and walked in and got my pizza. Friendly service.

Haven’t tried their pizza, but intend to. I had baked spaghetti and meatballs. Never had before. I was a part owner of an Italian restaurant and we served baked lasagna and baked ziti, but this was a new experience. But I guess pasta is pasta and this wasn’t bad at all. Served with a decent portion of toasted and buttered bread, but not the best. Seem to be reasonably priced and the help was very friendly and helpful.Update: Pizza is the best in the surrounding 25 miles. Good quality cheese and baked to perfection. Very good crust.

The pizza here is amazing, and the people are even better. The Mud Duck pizza at Salty Dog Pizza was my dad's favorite, and we recently lost him unexpectedly. We wanted to serve his favorite at a family gathering the day after his memorial service, and Owen at Salty Dog went out of his way to ensure we had our order at the time we needed it. He and his fellow team members were so nice and so accommodating to our family; I will be forever appreciative. The pizza was a huge hit and was gone as fast as lightning - everyone loved the Mud Duck, the pepperoni, and the cheese pizzas. It was genuinely some of the best pizza I've personally had in many years! And the house salad was absolutely beautiful and spectacularly fresh as well. I would a billion percent recommend this restaurant for the delicious and fresh food and the outstanding people behind the counter.

First. The guy at the counter was friendly and kept the mood light. This was helpful as all orders were over 30 minutes beyond the latest quoted time. So the small shop was crowded with those waiting to pick up. Toppings are light, but tasted good. Expect to spend awhile trying to get through on busy nights as you will get a message that says "keep trying".About two tables for eating in. A couple of picnic tables out front are available.

As new Mathews County residents, we tried Salty Dog Pizza for the first time today, and it was great! We ordered The Mess, their meat lover’s pizza, and it was chocked full of pepperoni, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, and, of course, lots of mozzarella cheese. The crust was crisp and delicious as it should’ve been. We’ll definitely be ordering from there again. Thanks!

Great food and staff. Best Covid practices I've seen. Way to go! We drove from Urbanna and will be going back.This has become our "go to" pizza place. We routinely drive past 3 or 4 other pizzerias because this one is the best.I highly recommend the mozzarella sticks and a Polish sausage and sun dried tomato pizza!

Niiicccee pizza. First visit two days ago. Ordered for takeout. Ready exactly on time. Ordered it with extra sauce. Delicious. Good cheese, good topping, good bread, cooked perfectly. The guy running the shop was extremely friendly too.

The pizza dough here is the best I have ever had. Great salad bar as well. Love seafood and love Pizza? Try the Chachene which combines shrimp and scallops with a creamy garlic sauce. This is our new Pizza spot. On the plus side this place is kept spotless/immaculately clean.

Myself and My Wife were visiting family in area and happened to stop in.The service was Friendly and the place was Immaculate.Classic American Pizzarea Decor.The Large pepperoni and sausage pizza we ordered was promptly served and was Spot On! It was easy to tell the dough and sauce were fresh and made on premises.The cheese and meat were very high quality and generous in quantity .The pie was cooked perfectly.Keep up the good work,we will absolutely stop by when we are back in the area.It ws the best meal we had on our trip.Thanks!

We order pizza from here about once a week. The pizza has the right amount of crust and the ingredients are always fresh. This restaurant has been consistent in its quality. I recommend the white pizza with garlic sauce. We had it for the first time tonight and it did not disappoint. Delicious!!

Stopped in for a late dinner on a Saturday, wanting to try the new place in town. Was immediately seated and orders taken. I picked my own toppings for the pizza and my picky eater teenager ordered wings and the homemade fries. My pizza was perfect and the crust was to die for! Teenager was happy as well and left nothing but bones! Oh my!! Sooo good!! We will be back!!

We tried Salty Dog Pizzeria for the first time last weekend. We camp in Topping, VA and had heard great reviews about this pizza place in Mathews. Oh my. The great reviews didn’t do this place the justice it deserves!The pizza was fantastic. Absolutely delicious. I’m from New York, so I know from pizza. While the crust is most definitely not New York style, it is delicious. The crust actually has flavor and a wonderful texture, crisp on the outside, just a bit of chew on the inside. The red sauce is another flavorful addition. I realize I’m in the South now and probably shouldn’t make generalizations….. but there are a LOT of bland pizzas south of the Mason Dixon. The pizza from Salty Dog isn’t one of them.While it isn’t overly spiced, the pizza sauce has a nice balance, just the right amount of acid and sweet with that oregano, garlic, and basil that adds some punch.Toppings are plentiful but not overwhelming. Cheese is perfectly proportioned to the pie and toppings.We love the stories behind the names of each pie. We’ve had stromboli and pizza and can’t wait to try everything on the menu!Highly recommend that you give Salty Dog Pizzeria in Mathews a try!
