I had an exceptional experience with my tour guide Raul at the Virginia Distillery Company. Raul’s knowledge and passion for whiskey-making made the tour truly unforgettable. Not only did I get to taste some exquisite whiskey, but I also gained insight into the intricate process behind its production. Raul’s enthusiasm and attention to detail added depth to the experience, making it both educational and enjoyable. Virginia Distillery was a great way to start our weekend. The ambience in the tasting room was cozy and warm. The staff was friendly and was willing to explain the various flights and cocktails. We will be back!

We were out exploring and decided we'd try this place even though we're more bourbon kind of folks. We're glad we stopped. The venue is beautiful with lovely views and grounds. The young man that guided us through all the different selections was very knowledgeable and personable. We had great conversation with him (I wish I could remember his name). We were told that they have events throughout the year including a caskgiving where casks of liquor or the casks themselves (not sure which) are given away on a first come first serve basis. The experience was so enjoyable that we'll definitely be back.

Absolutely amazing variety of outstanding American bourbons. Definitely try the Sherry Cask, Double Malt, and for the winos out there, you’ll even enjoy the Cuveè cask. Carri-Anne was extremely knowledgeable, guiding us the entire way from selection through theory and the estate story.

Went out a few months ago and had a great experience. Place is a little bit far from the DC area, but that is okay as driver is worth it. Great American Single Malt and had a food truck when there. Would go back and highly recommend

You'll feel welcome at this beautiful distillery. Friendly and knowledgeable staff make all the difference! Be sure to visit the museum downstairs after a tasting. The tour is great and also recommended.

Great selection of whiskey and a super knowledgeable staff. We walked in without a reservation and did a tasting. We didn't get a chance to do the tour, but we'll definitely be back to do one in the summer. Would definitely recommend it if in the area!

The Virginia Distillery is a fantastic place. The whole experience was great from the landscaping to the tasting room. I love the attention to detail in the architecture and decorating. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. I loved my time spent here.

Our guide was great and explained a lot about their process. A bit pricey on the local whiskey but it's crafted locally and we took home a bottle (or two...). We missed out on the real tour due to the time of our visit.

We stopped at this lovely distillery on our way home from Charlottesville and we are so glad we did! The ambience in the tasting room is just beautiful. We were greeted by Amber the moment we walked in the door; she explained the various flights, the different casks whiskeys might be stored in and how that affects both the nose and the taste of the bourbon. So very nice to be welcomed and educated by a knowledgeable person. We'll be back! Thank you Amber, and thank you Virginia Distillery.

My husband and I visited while on a trip visiting family in VA. Even though the rainy weather didn't work in our favor, we had an amazing time at the Distillery. Raul gave us a detailed and fun tour of the grounds. We especially enjoyed learning about the different casks and visiting the Cask House. Raul was extremely knowledgeable and down to earth. The tasting was personalized and absolutely incredible. We highly recommend a visit and will be back the next time we are in VA!

This place focuses on single malt distilling that is aged 3 different ways. They have a cider Barrell, sherry, cuvee (red wine), bourbon, and port barrel finish. All were in the 90 proof range. So if you're looking for the 'flavored' spirits then this is the wrong place to go. If you're interested in a traditional Scottish single malt then you definitely need to stop by.

So I have been to about 100 distilleries and never been greeted with such negativity at the front door. My buddy was finishing a beer as we walked in and about ready to throw it away but you would have thought he was trying to burn down the building. One of the workers aggressively targeted him lecturing him as he finished it and saying she couldn’t believe he brought that in. Did we know the rules at that point being from out of town? We are all military families and were being respectful and had a driver. Because I haven’t seen these friends in years, we were willing to stick with it. We were the ONLY customers and you would think that they would be a little nicer at presenting the rules. I was so embarrassed for my buddy and his wife. As we were trying to share our flights they aggressively came over again and said you can not drink over 3 oz which is hard to calculate if you take a sip of different ones. She said he can not take another drink. It was so over the top. Regardless of the whiskey I would never go back.Reply: understand there are rules…but there is a way to go about it. It’s called being cordial. Trust me… we are very familiar with rules

Staff very friendly, was new to whiskey tastings and they answered all of my questions. They also have non-alcoholic versions of the mixed drinks too which is nice to see a distillery offer

I would agree with the review Allison Bateman left. We walked in and perhaps we weren't also their "type" but they just gave us a card and the whiskeys without a description or anything while the older couple next to us got a full explanation on each. Additionally, according to their adherence to ABC laws, if you have a whiskey flight, you cannot have any other cocktail or alcohol after that which they did not mention online. Overall two stars because my boyfriend said the whiskey was good but it would one honestly if just basing it on customer service. Unfortunate too because we were excited to come here.

My guy had been wanting to go here for a while now and we finally had the opportunity to stop and visit. The whole experience was underwhelming and customer service was lacking. We purchased a flight each and were basically given the whisky and a card describing the whisky and nothing else. Meanwhile, others who came in were acknowledged by the staff and engaged them in conversation describing the whiskys. Maybe we weren’t their “type” but we felt completely unwelcome there and ended up leaving the place without even close to finishing our flights. We essentially spent $50 to be completely ignored. There are much better, more hospitable distilleries to visit in Virginia.
