I'm truly grateful for the exceptional care provided by this animal hospital. When I brought my dog in the other day due to an urgent wound requiring immediate attention, they didn't hesitate to spring into action. Upon arrival, the doctor promptly escorted her to the examination area to assess the situation. Throughout the process, the medical team kept me informed, providing updates on her condition and the treatment plan. The level of attentiveness and professionalism displayed was truly remarkable. I have complete confidence in recommending this place to anyone in need of top-notch care for their furry family members.

This has been my go-vet since 2021. Unfortunately, the level of care has magnanimously subsided. The veterinarians who join and leave have become somewhat of a revolving door, their phones are down frequently, and they’re letting anyone administer vaccinations now a days. I’m actively looking for a new home for my pup where he will be provided proper care.

First time at Gunston and was a great experience. They loved my dog and my dog loved them. The Vet wasn’t quick to suggest anything unnecessary, in fact promotes not over vaccinating if your lifestyle doesn’t involve exposure. A relaxed atmosphere makes all the difference. I never want to go anywhere else unless absolutely necessary. I’ve moved to Maryland and the only reason I regularly need to be in this part of Virginia now is to take my dogs to see their doctors and that’s what we’ll keep doing until we can’t. Staff are super friendly. I’ve had great experiences with the staff here. Bourbon’s doctor is always super friendly and knowledgeable. Immunizations are a bit pricey. However, I had a wellness plan at my previous animal hospital when Bourbon was a puppy. I would say that even though the occasional doctor visits here are pricey, it is still way cheaper than paying monthly for a wellness plan AND still having to pay for some things not covered under the wellness plan for that visit. All in all, I highly recommend Gunston Animal Hospital to everybody!!

My previous vet was no longer an option so my mom referred me to Gunston. The doc that saw my girl was awesome. She was very warm and friendly towards both me and my dog. I’m happy to have found a new vet for my very shy and anxious girl (she usually is so nervous and irritated at the vet).

I would give them a 10 if it was possible. Our dear Sophie had a second surgery for her teeth. They made it very easy for her. She was first, had meds to help with her anxiety, sutured eye lids and great care. After resting all night she is up and eating. Her vet always helps us with any decision with good sound medical advice. We are fortunate to have found caring loving vet and staff with excellent medical care. Thank you!!!

My experience with Gunston Animal Hospital has been utterly frustrating and disappointing, particularly regarding their handling of a neutering appointment for my newly adopted cat. While I did secure an appointment with the promise of using an AWL voucher, Gunston’s failure to release the necessary voucher to AWL turned what should have been a straightforward process into a nightmarish cycle of misinformation and incompetence.The core issue lies with Gunston’s apparent disregard for clear communication and their commitment to support low-income pet owners. Despite my efforts to coordinate and their initial assurance that using a voucher would not be problematic, their inability to follow through with the necessary arrangements with AWL showcases a disturbing level of disorganization and unprofessionalism. The endless back-and-forth, coupled with their staff’s empty promises to resolve the issue and call me back — which never happened — highlights a systemic failure to manage their responsibilities effectively.This ordeal has not only been a significant waste of my time but has also left me with a growing concern for my cat’s well-being, as he urgently needs the procedure. Gunston’s inability to facilitate a process they claimed to support has forced me to seek services elsewhere, starting from scratch due to their incompetence.I am deeply disillusioned by Gunston Animal Hospital’s lack of respect and blatant negligence. It’s clear that their advertised support for voucher programs and low-income communities is merely lip service. I strongly discourage anyone from depending on their services, as their internal miscommunication and lack of accountability have proven them to be unreliable and unworthy of trust. My pet and I are undoubtedly better off seeking care from a more competent and professional provider.

when i got there everyone seemed miserable, no one greeted us. i had my 4 year old with me and my baby strapped to my chest and no one helped me get a weight on my 80lbs dog. i had to get him on the scale myself. seemed over priced, my dog has gotten his medication in Texas and Maryland and i have NEVER paid as much for it as i did here.

Absolutely the best vet in Virginia. Dr. Hurst cares for all my furry baby and when I say cares she truly does. She is extremely knowledgeable and my entire family has been going to her for over 20 years. I always say "I have the best vet in the world" I would be lost without her. The office staff and vet techs are also very friendly and helpful. I love Gunston Animal Hospital and I would never take my babies anywhere else. I just wish they would go back to preforming types of emergencies and surgeries but most vets aren't doing that anymore and I think that's a shame. If you are looking for a place that is not just about the money and actually loves and cares for animals this is the place.
