New 23,000-square-foot facility, located at 8875 Lorton Road, is the second county-operated shelter. Provides a hub for essential services, including behavior and training support, veterinary medical care, pet supplies, and other critical services that help keep pets with their families.

I called first after viewing the animals posted on the website that I was interested in adopting. The shelter still had the dog I desired. I am very pleased with my adoption from this shelter. From the time I entered, I was welcomed by one of the staff members and told them which dog I wanted to see. They told me to wait while they retrieved the dog. While waiting, I noticed the shelter was very clean, and all the staff I encountered were all friendly. They brought out my dog and explained to me the temperment and history that they knew about. They asked me a few questions to see if I was a good fit for my choice. Soon after, I paid the adoption fee, and the beginning of a love relationship was on its way!

I went to this shelter after I saw a cat online during my adoption search. The staff provided excellent customer service and the location is very nice. It was an easy application process and they gave me a pet emergency kit, the cat's information with the previous owner and a collar with a name tag. I am a happy customer with my new pet.

The staff are friendly and it looks well managed.If you really want a specific animal, show up at least 40 minutes before opening as lines can happen.
