This is a great pace to visit. It's a little tough to find parking, but don't let that deter you. The staff is very friendly and helpful and it's a real pleasure visiting them. If you're in that area, and even if you're not, don't miss a great experience and stop on in. You won't be disappointed.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This is without a doubt the cleanest and best smelling pet store I have ever been to, the habitats are always spotless! I always see the same 2-3 girls working too, so I'm amazed that they can keep it so clean when other places with more staff can't. The staff are also super knowledgeable and always take the time to answer all of my questions.They really are animal advocates and aren't just in it to make money. If they have a sick animal they're fully transparent and put signs on the habitats that they're not for sale and they medicate and treat them until they're better. I saw at their little medicine station for the fish that the products they use in store are the ones that they sell, which gives me peace of mind that they are selling products that they've worked with and recommend.I adopted 2 rescue cats from them about half a year ago and at this point the store is more of a rescue than a pet store considering that whenever I come in there seems to be a new pet that was surrendered. I asked one of the employees about it and she said that they work with a few rescues in the region and will help them when they can, but they get a lot of surrenders from people who got their pets at other stores and then didn't want them anymore.When I was adopting my 2 cats an employee told me how they decided to refuse an adoption application for one of their cats because the applicant wanted to have them declawed. She also said that they refuse to sell animals in habitats that they deem too small, and will ask for proof of a habitat if you don't purchase one from them. They said that some people think they're stuck up or stubborn, but I for one appreciate that they don't want any of their animals to live sad lives in cramped habitats.I can't recommend them enough!

Exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful staff. Their care for the wellbeing of the animals that they sell, exemplified by the fact that they 1. Operate as a pet rescue and 2. may deny a sale if a potential customer does not have a proper enclosure or understanding of an animal's care needs, is all the more reason to make them your go-to pet store.

I had my dog groomed this morning, and could not be more pleased. Karen did an exceptional job grooming my doodle. I had a great groomer a few years ago, while living elsewhere, and thought I would never find one as good. Karen is as good if not better than that. I would highly recommend her if you are looking for a groomer.

Definitely the place to go!!! We called 5 minutes before close and she was more than happy to wait until 5:05 for us to get there! When we got there she was super helpful and answered every single question we had! After 20 minutes past their closing time she was so kind and informative! Will definitely be back if I decide to buy another fish!

Fun little place. Great vibe. Very friendly and helpful staff. They have some cool fish that you don't often see. But the best part was the aquatic plants. A nice variety of beautiful specimens and a great price.

I got my yellow lab groomed last week and it was wonderful! I got the deshedding treatment and it has majorly minimized his shedding, he looks and smells great! Karen did a great job!!

I went in to the store around closing time with my 6 yo to purchase hamsters and a cage. Staff was knowledgable and friendly and went out of their way to help my son pick his new pets (they had to completely take apart one cage to catch a hamster for him to hold). Then they walked us around the store to make sure we got the supplies that we needed. I especially appreciated the patience and kindness that they showed my child. The hamsters are healthy, the equipment is awesome, and we are all very happy!

I bought my bearded dragon here and I come here all the time to get foodhis food, and I can tell you that these people not only love their animals and take great care of them but they are smart and extremely knowledgeable of any animal they might have. The pet shop itself is great for a little town like this with gorgeous birds, reptiles, rabbits, kittens, and more. If you love animals and youre in Lexington for any reason you've gotta stop here!

Unlike most large pet stores, this shop takes great care of their animals! Every animal is in a nice, spaced enclosure and has lots of enrichment. Their prices are nice, and Ive been treated well by all of their staff.

I frequent Lexington Pet Place once or twice a month. I mostly go to buy aquarium plants, snails, shrimp, and occasionally fish. I've also purchased aquarium gravel, water conditioner, and various other aquarium implements.In general, I have been happy with the livestock I've purchased from them. I've never had anything die within their three-day guarantee period. The shrimp and snails seem to be healthy, happy, and well cared for.The plants I've purchased from them have also done well in my planted tanks. Anubius nana, elodea, Java fern, and others have all been hardy and free of snail eggs or other contaminants. Though their plant selection isn't as large as what I can find in Roanoke or Charlottesville, it is reflective of the shop's size. Though I've never had them specially order specific plants for me, they've offered to do so more than once. They've also offered to order shrimp and other things I've been looking for, but I've never taken them up on their offer.The durable equipment I've purchased has also been reliable and of good quality. I recommend the shop to anyone in the area looking to start or maintain an aquarium.

I needed to buy dog treats to use while watching my friends dogs at their wedding. What was meant to be a quick trip to grab some treats turned into a wonderful time of exploring the store, seeing the animals and talking to the employee there. I wish I lived here so I could frequent more often!
