Craig, Rachel, Nancy and the other volunteers go above and beyond for the dogs in their care. They're only an hour away from Richmond and SO worth the drive. The shelter was spotless when we arrived and the dogs are very much loved by the volunteers and ACO Craig. They really take the time to help you find the perfect match. Our family will be forever grateful for their help in finding 'Rex', our newest family member that we are head over heels in love with! Thank you ALL ❤️

When I 1st went by, they were out due to an emergency, but when I returned 1 hr later, it was fully staffed with 3 members. What I like most is that they were friendly, organized, polite, and professional. My 2 dogs had gotten out of our yard 2 weeks ago, and the shelter team picked them up a few miles from home. They were taken to the shelter, which was very clean, and no foul order. My pups were taken well care of.

The absolute worst animal shelter ever. They don’t follow up with anyone. They “know” people so they let them get away with mistreating animals all because they see some sort of half a$$ “shelter, food and water” and say it’s fine. They could care less because we have no leash laws so I’m supposed to kill dogs on my property instead of hold owners accountable. This shelter is so pathetic along with the workers who never answer the phone, never call back, never do a follow up. It’s sad. Why even have the job if you don’t truly care.Editing to add 8 months later: to this day AC has allowed animal neglect to go on even with video and photo evidence. They say the behavior is either acceptable or if it happened before January 2023 then they won’t do anything about it. Worthless. Shame on the volunteers who praise these pigs.

Employees are helpful. I work with a no kill shelter (BARK) and we are frequently contacted to take dogs for later adoption.

Failure to be of help with any animal rescue needs in our area. Woefully understaffed. We are in desperate need of a viable animal control department in this county.
