I walked into the store just to have a little browse around see what was available and due to not being able to get a price estimate over the phone after about 5 minutes on eof the older gentleman asked me if i had anything in mind and i just asked to hold a few of the fire arms to see how they felt about 5 minutes in im done looking at firearms and the gentleman is getting very close with what seemed to be the intention to get me out of the store after that i will not spend a dime here.

Went in and made my first firearm purchase today! The staff inside is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! With it being my first time buying a firearm, I felt comfortable walking into the store, being able to browse, and take my time instead of having that feeling of having to already know what I need to get when I go in. The older gentleman who helped me even ensured that I understood the paperwork that I needed to fill out! Safe to say I’ll be back soon!

I have been buying my guns through Charles dating back to A&A Arsenal. He started Big Dog Outfitters and the pricing, help, ordering, and in general taking care of my shooting needs continues to be the very best in the state in VA.Pictures are not allowed to be taken inside so I can only share one of the exterior. Do yourself a favor and stop by for a visit to this gin store. You will not be disappointed.

I walked in the store with my 2 kids and a older nice fellow started helping me with my order(as he has many times before)already had 2 boxes of ammo in hand for me while I shop then a shady guy comes out the back office and whispers something to the older fellow that was already helping me.Older guy looks at me and says under his breath I can't sell to u cause of the smell of cannabis on you.(older guy looked puzzled at what the shady guy in office said to him as he told me this) Cannabis is my business and I will protect myself either with your ammo or someone elses.What fools you are.This already happened a year ago and I got it straight with owners but now screw it they deserve 0 stars for there stupidity.

There is one big problem at this place, the selection is so fantastic, you will buy more than you planned!!!. They have everything. You want it, they probably have it. Andy helped me out with my first visit to this fine establishment. He was very well informed and has a ton of firearms experience. I would go back and plan to because of the great first visit I had here. Thanks Andy! Also, most of the negative comments about this gun store are so out of touch. If you want to wear a mask (that doesn’t work) in the store, that is great but they still need to know who you are. Second, prices are based on demand and supply. Demand is high because people are rightfully afraid of the current political climate related to the second amendment being dismantled and supply is low because so many people got interested in protecting themselves during COVID. This is a great place that doesn’t give into the fake “woke” culture, so thank you!

My husband thought he never got the magazines but ms Cathy was able to run the cameras back to ensure that we left with a bag & it was sadly in our vehicle. One of the best gun stores I've been to. Very helpful, friendly and professional. The employees know just about everything you could want to know about firearms. If they don't have it, they will find it for you. Big Dog offers safety classes, they can help you get concealed carry permits, and gunsmiths are employed there. They have a lot of unique items and firearms too. They even sell silencers and full autos if you have the proper license/permit. Stop by. You won't regret it.

Customer Service - True Gun People I walked in with a scope and mount issue. I came in with the bare minimum, expecting to not waste their time. They told me to go back to my car and get the whole precision rifle and talk to their gunsmith, Andy. Man, great gun talk and great advice. It was all courtesy. I purchased new rings and ammo. Will definitely be back. All in the store were kind.

I was really hoping these guys would treat a customer right, as they are the closest gun shop to me. I was sadly disappointed. I had done some cursory research on a carry gun I wanted ( a popular one). I went to check it out at the local gun store, because even if they charge a little more, I want the service that should come with the extra price. I had checked prices online, but when confronted, the salesman said, "Well, this model is actually below retail price....." It isn't true, and even if it was for that model, it was only ONE PENNY less.....what a shyster. I found it online for much less, even with a transfer fee. Never going back again. Nice isn't worth $200 per gun.

Staff was helpful and friendly. They have a huge selection of unusual weapons. Prices seem to be a bit high but that's the current market.I'm laughing at some of the negative reviews. Seems like these people have never been to a gun store. I don't know of any gun stores where the staff is unarmed. It's for everyone's security.

As soon as I walked in I was asked to remove my mask so they could take a picture of my face. Out of all of the gun stores I have visited this is the first to have such procedures, not to mention Covid protocols that are being ignored. When I asked what the picture was all about the arrogant employee informed me that I was at a gun store and they want to know what people look like. As I browsed around I quickly realized that this store is price gouging and straight up taking advantage of the unsuspecting. I understand how supply and demand works but there is difference in that and ripping people off. I noticed other comments talking about not giving prices over the phone and I now know why. I will not be returning.

Amazing customer service and friendly feel to the entire stoawre. End up getting carried away by good, quality conversation and stayed for 2 hours just talking and looking after my purchase. Knowledgable and accommodating of your needs to a fault. One of the few shops hell bent on making you have a comfortable good time, rather than swindling you of your hard earned coin. And of course the shop pups were wonderful. 10/10 big dogs is the place to go.

I’d rate 5 stars if I was just going to talk about the selection they have, which is some of the best...but their prices are all over the place. I recommend going here to look at the firearms you are interested in, then buying somewhere else to save $$$Their customer service is good, I have no issues there. It’s really only their prices.Certain guns are priced okay, just a small amount over usual, and others are way over priced. Usually I will look somewhere like gun broker before going to see what the average prices are and they are usually a couple hundred dollars above that.Not to mention things like their magazines are overpriced because they are getting a lot of business from Maryland customers who can’t get magazines over 10 rounds in-state.Don’t even think about selling your firearm there, they will give you bottom dollar for it. I was offered $350 for my handgun, that same day I went to gym Ratz in Mechanicsville and they offered me $450. They only want $$$.

Nice having a local shop and get to know a quality gunsmith if you ever need one. Andy is friendly and super helpful and knowledgeable. He corrected three items for me between two rifles without charge, even though I asked how much. This led me to return many times after to continue buying from the shop, including a transfer.My first visits a few years ago were not great. However, many visits over this last year have restored my preference to Big Dog as my local shop. Prices are hit or miss, as with any business. Although, the difference in time and gas money to go to another shop out of the area usually makes up for the higher priced items. Plus, many accessories and magazines are same price or even cheaper than SSG and others further away. Often, said items are near internet prices. Just be vigilant.So be an informed, courteous, friendly, and passionate shopper/human and any local shop will treat you like family or a valued customer. This place is awesome! I’ve been dealing with them since 2013. Their knowledge of the products they sell and the laws between MD and VA are beyond compare. This was essential when I lived in MD. I always feel welcomed and at home when I walk in their door. Above all those things is I never feel pressured to buy anything. I have window shopped there on numerous occasions and have never been made to feel I’ve wasted anyone’s time.

Decent selection but only gun shop I have seen charge manufacturers MSRP or over. Kind of astounding they are still open really. Must be because it's the only shop within 40+ miles.Staff has seemed friendly, but the prices aren't worth it. Drive a little and save 20% or more.
