A charming, welcoming & your best breakfast/lunch restaurant in Irvington, VA. Here, the great staff know their regular customers, serve the freshest foods to order as you sip on delicious coffee. We enjoyed The Local so much that we returned each day of our stay nearby. While you wait for your delicious breakfast or lunch (best chicken salad ever!) browse through a book from their new "Book Club" selection. Highly recommend: Salmon on bagel, Chicken with salad, Breakfast egg, sausage sandwich. They will also pack for to take on the road.This establishment has a mission statement as a gathering place, gallery to support local artist, opportunity & fair staff wages, maintain environmentally sustainable presence when possible while delivering quality coffee & freshest ingredients. Bravo to The Local!

Friendly, busy, but productive, this place can serve up coffee or breakfast with the best of them. Inside or outside, they have the standard fare.The twist here, the bagel sandwiches are pressed, like a panini. Pretty cool.

This place is great! It really is a local gem. The food is great with local ingredients (as possible). The coffee is amazing. What really struck me was how friendly the owner was and how adorable the decor is. I love the local artisan goods for sale - art, skin cream, and more. Will definitely be back.

The atmosphere is so warm and inviting, it really makes you feel like a local even though you may just be passing through! The food is delicious and served with a welcoming smile!I can't wait to come back and enjoy a cup of coffee and an avocado toast with the other "locals"!

This place was exactly what I was looking for in a local sandwich and coffee shop. Folks were friendly; seating was spacious. I think they add a packet of ranch seasoning to their potato salad and it's freaking awesome

Worlds best breakfast sandwich!!! I got the plain bagel with egg, cheese, and bacon😋😋😋. They warm it on some type of press so you get just enough crunch but still a nice chewy bagel. I was in town 2 days and got it twice! I wish I had this place near me!

Great local coffee shop which also serves really great food! Warm atmosphere, friendly staff. We had coffee each day we were in town, was great. Had breakfast the first day, all our food was made fresh to order and it was well worth the cost. On the second day we stopped in for just coffee on our tree turn from lunch, I wished we had come here for lunch instead of where we came from, the sandwiches I saw looked amazing! I will definitely be back next time I am in town.

Only bad thing about this place is that they didn’t have any key lime ice cream sandwiches when we visited. But, the coffee and sandwiches were excellent. I particularly liked the Flying Tomato. Staff was friendly and welcoming, and as far as I could tell did a good job adhering to mask and distancing protocols.

I order avocado toast which is like 10$ but was insanely disappointed and shocked to only get ONE piece of toast??? For $10 that to me is ridiculous. There’s not a ton of options for the area so I may try them again but I’m not holding my breath on getting any type of decent portions on their meals.Wish I could give it more stars because it’s such a comfortable atmosphere and the staff is friendly but those prices for the portions are ridiculous.

While stopping by in Irvington, I had the pleasure of eating lunch at The Local. They were kind, very eco-friendly and that was hands down the best chai tea I've had in years. Now, I'm looking for excuses to go to Irvington to have their delicious drinks and eats. Remember to bring your own mug if you are taking it to go!

The prices are comparable with any restaurant in Richmond but the FOOD 😍 is AMAZING. This is not a burn-and-turn fast-food diner, so don't compare the Local's modest chalkboard of offerings to food truck prices, but do prepare to get blown away by food done RIGHT and really excellent coffee concoctions. Everything is fresh and the service is friendly, so sit a while and enjoy the Local and all it has to offer.

Great food and kind service. Bigger city style salads and paninis. Charming dog friendly courtyard and a fun clothing shop next door and across the street. Soup is always good. It’s all a bit higher in price than I’d prefer but I’m so thankful it’s here in Irvington! One of only two places to get hand crafted espresso in the area. The only one in Irvington.Parking: Street parking and public lot around the corner.Kid-friendliness: Mandala game baby!

Friendly service and sandwiches to go were mostly good after a 20 minute wait during a holiday week (which was completely understandable.)We opted for the OG panini, the Captain panini and the club sandwich on toasted bread. However when we got home, the club sandwich bread was pretty burnt. We ate it but will get a panini the next time instead of wheatberry bread.Edit: thanks to The Local for making this right - it's really, really appreciated and I've updated my review from 4 to 5 stars as well!

I live in Williamsburg and met family there for lunch. It was a great experience. Food and service were excellent. Had the lunch special for soup and sandwich, both were delicious. I will come again.
