Not a bad stay.Clean rooms!However my room smelled like smoke, and only had two sad pillows. Turning the air conditioner on made the smell almost comely go away.

We arrived around midnight and got right into our room quickly. The gentleman working the front was very friendly and efficient (which I appreciated after being in the car for hours!). Upon entering the room, first took note that the light was not left on. Once we found the switch we noticed the well lit room was clean and perfect for a quick overnight stop. 10/10 would stay here again! From aesthetic perspective, rooms could use a little art work, perhaps photos of dogs that have visited the hotel would be fitting.To add, there were several gas stations & fast food stops nearby...not sure what more you could expect from a highway stop.

This is one of the nicest Motel 6 rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The check-in was quick and the woman at the front desk was welcoming and efficient. I was impressed with how clean and obviously renovated the room was. I was traveling with a cat and a chihuahua, so I asked for a pet friendly room. This room is so clean. The air conditioner window unit is new and clean, as are the microwave and mini fridge. Plenty of clean fluffy towels and a firm mattress with clean bedding.The room I stayed in is first floor on the back side, and it felt very secluded and safe and not in the middle of an intersection. Parking was easy.The welcome note with the TV menu and pet policy really impressed me. Also, great Direct TV and channels (HBO is included).The water pressure and bathtub are in great shape.The room had a hairdryer and conditioner and soap. Very nice clean floors. Sometimes I feel like pet friendly motels give people with pets the worst rooms, but this was not the case.Nice area and near stores and basic food joints with downtown Hillsville only minutes away.The people I encountered while running errands were very friendly and I was not concerned for my safety in this town.Would for sure stay here again. The price is reasonable & it’s one of the nicest roadside budget motel I’ve ever come across.Ohh.. the lobby room has a vending machine and there is more than one ice machine on site.

Rooms are very nice and clean. Very affordable for the quality. Nice TV, fridge, shower etc. Beds are very clean, room smells good coming in. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind, and had no issue at all with our dog being with us. This will be our new go to when we're passing through!Walkability: Restaurant and gas station in walking distance.

Only $10 more than Motel 6 but soooo much better! Cleaner larger and newer rooms, nice bathroom, free breakfast and I just feel much safer here. It is also pet friendly!Food & drinks: Fred breakfast, free tea and coffee.

We stopped on our way home. We read reviews that it was clean, and I really don’t understand how that is b/c the rooms (we had to switch from the 1st one b/c it had ants crawling everywhere, crumbs under a pillow along with clipped fingernails, ick!) are dirty! The second room had old food splattered all inside the microwave, etc. My skin felt like it was crawling all night. If we hadn’t been so exhausted, we wouldn’t have stayed. I hate to write a bad review because the staff is very friendly, but the cleaning needs to improve. I don’t care about frills, just wanted to rest.

This motel was appealing to me as it was less expensive than others in the area and was located right off I-77 near some fast food restaurants and gas stations. I took a chance after reading some of the reviews about it being dirty.I arrived after a long day of driving (like probably most visitors who stay here). I enter the main office was pretty bland, dirty, and not inviting at all. You can tell that they were trying to do some renovations.The room itself was very mismatched and also uninviting. The moulding and doors had grime on them and either needed to be cleaned or painted. The bathroom was very dated with the light switch being from 1975 and one of the lights missing and having exposed wires. I wasn’t here long enough to kick and scream about it but someone should look into it. The air conditioner was smelly and kept on going on-and-off all night waking up (we set it to stay on). There were not pictures or decor in the room just blank walls. The accent chair was stained with some nasty stuff. I could probably fix this room up in a day for $200 after going to Home Depot. I’m not completely sure they owners haven’t.I had another night booked here on may way back through town but cancelled and decided to go a different route.The bigger issue isn’t really the Motel 6 but the overall town. It’s pretty run down town and it seems like no one really cares to take care of it. Most of the hotels look like they are after thoughts from the big chains. It’s just a stop over for travelers and nothing really else. My honest opinion is to stay in another town.

The room, location, and price are perfect! The service is not the best…We had no warm/hot water for our whole stay and when checking out asked for a compensation. The front desk representative said we probably did not turn the knob the right way… Which my husband and I have obviously been turning all possible ways for our entire stay. Then she called the cleaning crew to ask if the water is warm and she said the water is indeed hot. My husband asked to show him the warm water, which they hesitated to do. When we came back to the room, the water was cold and it was obvious they were embarrassed. They compensated us $10, even though the shower/bath is one of the most important things in a room, possibly second most important after a bed. The treatment was ridiculous.Once again though, the location is gorgeous on a hill and the room is very clean and big and cheap!

The motel is located off the highway and the staff is very accommodating. The room is clean and reasonably priced.Safety: This is a very safe area located near the highway.

Quiet place. Housekeeping called as a courtesy to see if we needed our room cleaned instead of just barging in. We really appreciated that! Room was clean, including the bathroom. The coffee pot was even clean enough to use, which we did, but were also grateful the motel was close to a gas station and a Wendy's. Would use this place again.

I don’t know how people can say this place is clean! All the other hotels were booked in the area so we took a chance on this place because of the reviews and as soon as we walked in I instantly regretted it. Our room smelled like smoke. The grime was everywhere. The window was dirty, I wanted to take a magic eraser to the door because it had dirt and marks all over it. The microwave had smudges on it, the mirror on the bathroom door was spattered with drip marks and smudges and dusty.. obviously not cleaned in a long time. There was a lot of dirt in the corners of the bathroom and the door had dirt and marks all over it. If they don’t pay attention to the obvious things that need cleaned, I can’t imagine how gross the things are that you can’t see. The only good thing is the sheets were clean but you only get two small flat pillows. We will NEVER stay here again!

Really friendly staff and loved that we could take our dog with us (he's a 75 lb german shepherd). No extra pet fee which was really nice too.Our room had wood flooring and was clean!We also had a microwave, mini fridge with a tiny freezer compartment inside the fridge.The only downside was that there weren't any windows we could open (probably due to security issues) so it felt a bit stuffy but there was still an AC unit.I would probably bring your own toiletries (esp shampoo/conditioner) if you're staying a couple days because what they provide is the bare minimum but you get what you pay for! Still a great value and convenient for traveling with pets. Would stay here again :)

The room was very clean! Not one bad thing to say about the room! I'm so happy they're very strict about their non-smoking policy! Location is great and just 30 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway! Good water pressure and lots of hot water. Staff is very friendly!! I even liked the coffee! I love that I can stay here with my dog! I will definitely stay here next time I'm in Hillsville!

I have stayed in a lot of motel 6's but had a bad experience a few years ago that turned me off to them... This location had a lot of good reviews so I decided to give it a chance.It was EXCELLENT. The positive reviews are no fluke- this is the nicest Motel 6 I've stayed in. Everything was super clean, there were two chairs and plenty of workspace, a bigger TV than expected, the location felt safe, and the staff members I interacted with were lovely. I will absolutely stay at this location again.
