Relatively clean. We checked in about 8 pm and were surprised they did not offer complimentary water and had to pay $5 for two bottles. (All the HIE hotels we’ve stayed in have offered a complimentary water.) But the main reason for 2 stars is the attitude of the lady working in the breakfast room when we asked for coffee. It was approx. 8 am next morning and the coffee that was there tasted old and was definitely cold. The lady made it very obvious she was perturbed by our request for hot coffee. She said “let me look at what time ‘he’ put the coffee out.” Then, exasperated, she said, “I’ll make some but it’s going to take at least 10 minutes.” Not the unfriendly attitude I want for $135.

It started out great, because all they had left was a suite and then the manager said, oh we have a cancelation for a room with two queens, which is what we wanted and it was less costly. It went downhill from there. The room was next to the elevator and every few minutes there was this loud fog horn sound. We should of moved, but we had unpacked everything and were exhausted from a 9 hour drive. I also did not realize the noise will continue the entire night. So we left with no sleep for another day of driving. I cant believe they would put anyone in this room, it is unacceptable. Also, the handicapped rail is too far back in the shower, so you constantly are banging it with your arm. I should of asked for a refund on the room for the noise, but just didn't feel like dealing with it. Lesson learned.Edit: I did speak to the manager and he did give us a refund, so I commend them for handling the situation kindly.

I've stayed at this hotel 2-3 times, including the most recent 2 days ago(7/2023). It's always been a good experience, hence staying again and again when traveling, as it's in a great location on our route.This stay was a pleasant relief from the bad stays I've had at some other hotels lately(including those with the IHG/Holiday Inn brand). The staff was pleasant and friendly. The lady managing the morning breakfast particularly was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond.I will definitely stay here again.

Incredibly wonderful hotel! We were greeted by a warm smile and welcome when we arrived. Our room was absolutely clean along with extra sheets, comforter, and pillows for the pullout couch. Our room came with Dove products available for use in the bathroom along with a Keurig and free coffee k-cups.The area is safe and quiet. We walked next door and had buffet at Shoney’s. The locals here are very nice and the hospitality has been amazing!

Having landed here due to an unexpected illness with my passenger the staff accommodated me with an early check in so I could get my other half to bed for some rest. They also provided me change to wash clothes. The next day we checked out but left our personal pillow behind. We did not notice until we arrived home 250 miles later. We both just wrote it off but the staff at the hotel actually called us and offered to have the item shipped to my home address. We really appreciated that the staff took the pillow to the UPS store and had it boxed and shipped. We paid for the shipping so I don’t want folks to think they paid for it but just the work in calling us and taking it to get shipped was well above and beyond that most folks would do. Big thumbs up for everyone involved. Thanks a ton.

Bed bugs!!! We got bites on our legs . Called the head manager but he does not know how to solve a problem even that he is a manager. Don’t go their!! Rooms 307-308.It looks clean but it’s not. The pool is disgusting 🤮. I gave two * for service only because of the lady in the kitchen she is really nice and food is good. Other than that disgusting!!!!Just disgusting.

We stayed here on our way to Myrtle beach. It's a nice location. Very clean. Great breakfast. The guy working told us about The Mason Jar restaurant for dinner & we all loved it. Thank you! The pool was nice but the water was a little too cool. Overall we really enjoyed our stay & would definitely stay again! We always check for bed bugs when arriving at a hotel, we know anywhere can get them, but thankfully there wasn't any. Very clean place. Thank you!

The remodeled rooms are fantastic. They were clean, no mold in the bathroom (surprisingly unusual!), linens were clean, and the beds were comfy. Upon arrival to this hotel, though, we were greeted by a guy who seemed more prepared for an evening on his couch with a bag of chips rather than checking guests into a hotel. As we approached the desk he stretched his arms overhead, revealing his entire belly. Shorts were sagging so low his undies were visible. I tried to distract my son (who has autism and would've pointed this out loudly) and keep cool.Then, to add to the lackluster service, we were warned that the oven was out and breakfast would be bagged! We called before checking in to be sure there would be a hot breakfast and were assured the pancake maker, etc would be functional and a hot breakfast would be available. The bagged breakfast was disappointing at best. A muffin, small bottle of water and a box of cereal (dry of course) despite the sign on the elevator stating there would be oatmeal, warmed pastries and fresh fruit available. For the price, this entire stay was disappointing. We probably should've tried the Hampton Inn....

The room was nice and clean. The host was friendly and the hotel was reasonable. The best part we liked is that no pets were allowed. It didn’t smell like an animal nor smoke. 👏🏾 Location is a little tricky.

Our stay at this hotel exceeded all expectations! Our room was immaculate and spacious. The beds were clean, crisp, and comfortable. The shower was hot with perfect pressure. The hot breakfast was served with patience and smiles, and there was plenty from which to choose (even for our daughter who has lots of food allergies).Our family of six needed this as a boost and pick-me-up in the middle of a long drive. I truly believe we couldn’t have stopped at a better hotel on our route! I will return in the future, definitely!The staff was friendly and accommodating, even with our late (middle of the night) arrival. They even brought up another roll-away bed within minutes of us settling into our room.I just can’t say enough nice things about our stay here!!

My stay here was very disappointing. Traveling from PA to SC and was looking for a mid point with my two daughters and fiancé with the best reviews and this place was it .. or so we thought. We arrived after 5 hours of traveling and couldn’t wait to crawl into bed after being exhausted with a toddler and a 6 month old. The first room we were given had a horrible smell to it . The floor had not been swept / mopped since who knows when and there were stains on the bathroom floor as well as it was very sticky. The first front desk clerk (who was great and a huge help) placed us in a different room which was even dirtier and again had the same foul smell as the first room. The blankets were dirty and once again the floors looked to be un touched (hadn’t been vacuumed or cleaned since who knows when) .. the tub had not been cleaned out and to top it off the AC didn’t work in our room lol. At one point the temp was at 76 degrees and the only air circulation we had was a fan option on the thermostat that blew out warm air. My children were up all night tossing and turning and the 4 of us just couldn’t not get comfortable. When I told the clerk in the morning (who was a different one than the one at night) she dismissed my concerns and said they would be aware of the issues and will make sure the room is up to par for the next people to stay there. I strongly feel they should have made it right with all the problems we had. But no worries they will ‘make it right’ for the next people who decide to stay there :)

There were spiders in every corner and one directly above the bed. I gave it two stars because the breakfast ladies were so friendly and the breakfast was really good. The room was nice but not clean. Under the couch hadn't been cleaned for a very very long time...there was a long dead centipede, candy and crusty crumbs. Way too expensive of a place for that.

Best room we've ever had at a Holiday Inn Express! Huge! So many comfy places in the room to work or relax! Loved it! Clean and comfy! Full b-fast. Thanks Holiday Inn Virginia!While there, Pitstop Pizza is a MUST!!! Oh my word their garlic knots are sublime! Haha. But really. And the pizza is the best I've eaten anywhere. Pretty sure it's their own special marinara sauce.We were going from Greensville, SC to our home in northern Indiana and made a special trip, adding 1.5 hours to our journey, just to eat at Pitstop, which we discovered 10 mos ago on our way from Charleston, West Virginia to Salisbury, North Carolina. And, we are not done making special trips to Pitstop, I'm sure of that!

Friendly staff, clean lobby and public restroom. Our hotel room smelled like B.O when we arrived, and hit us in the face again when returning from breakfast, but the room appeared clean, and beds were comfortable. Large breakfast selection. Nice indoor salt-water pool, but smelled strongly of chemicals, and burned our eyes. We enjoyed dining at "Pizza Inn" across the street. Not much else was open for dining, around the area.

Once I got to the hotel, I was surprised by the inside. The front desk staff was wearing their masks and they even decorated for Christmas, which gave it an even nicer touch. Upon entering my room, both of the beds were nicely made and the room smelt recently cleaned too. I also found it wonderful that they were offering breakfast among the pandemic, unlike other hotels. Everything was absolutely perfect! I have enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Hillsville and plan to stay there again.

We had been on the road 12 hours and pulled in for fuel and dinner. Holiday Inn parking lot connected with the Wendy’s we ate at, so we thought we would check the rates. We were pleased that they offered G.M. Corporate Rate. Very friendly professional check in. Then we were offered complementary hot chocolate and a wide assortment of the best cookies ever. Lady that checked us in said Manager was offering welcome treats for the month of December. Our room was clean and spacious. Best Continental Breakfast we have ever had. I am travelling with my two University student children and my husband and we usually have to stop somewhere else to grab something but not today. Everyone was more than happy.When we pulled away my son reminded me of what I had said going in “It doesn’t matter which place we pick. They are all basically the same.”I stand corrected, we will definitely visit again.

Beds were 7/10.Breakfast 8/10.Noise level was normal for a hotel.Cleanliness was a 4/10, as there was popcorn cernals along the bedframe, that IF the sheets were changed, would have clearly been caught. This makes me think sheets weren't even changed, again because it was such an easy catch. Also, all the light switch pannels by the beds had food prints from dirty hands all on them. The phone is seriously dirty and obviously hadnt been wiped down in quite sometime. The air conditioner had mold around the seal of the unit. **Edited this to say as we were leaving we needed to get ice for the cooler, opened the ice container to find a molded paper plate!I would stay here again, but I would not stay in the room I was in/or/ I would inspect room fully before I unpacked my entire family.Overall rating for this stay 5/10.
