We were searching for a place to stay, at the last minute, in the middle of no where and stopped here. Very accommodating and friendly. We were in a newly renovated room which looked nice.. bed was comfy..clean room BUT the building needs to be eradicated for mold. Our room wasn’t musty smelling( although others were) and it definitely affected me. Some people are not bothered by this but some are which is why I’m mentioning this. If that’s not you, I recommend to stay. You can rent four wheelers and they bring them to you, etc.. great grills and fire pits.. beautiful areato stay.

Five stars for the Hotel...but only 4 stars due to lack of walkable food.I really enjoyed my stay here. Room was clean, the beds were new (my back thanks you!) and the hosts were simply wonderful. As a motorcycle rider on tour, they were happy to stay up late to welcome me with a late check in.I'd stay there again for sure.My only complaint is the lack of walkable food - I'd have loved a nice local pub to go for a burger and beer but alas, that's not to be had.Enjoy!

We booked 2 rooms for 1 night for a trip to Breaks Interstate Park. The rooms are newly renovated and we found them clean and comfortable. The fireplaces really add an extra cozy touch. The bathroom was a little dated, but perfectly serviceable. The outdoor firepits and seating area are a nice plus. We had no issues during our stay and would recommend to anyone traveling in the area!Rooms: Gas fireplaces, mini fridge and microwave, clean, good sizeNearby activities: Elk tours at Breaks Interstate Park!

We stayed here with our kayaking group this past weekend. The owners and management are very friendly and will do anything to make your visit the best. Really enjoyed getting to know them. They have done a nice job making the place more up to date and have made a great outside area that’s inviting with fire pits and tables. The rooms are not Hilton quality but they are clean and that’s all you can ask for. It’s in the middle of nowhere so the quality is more than adequate. The great experience that the owners give you makes it a great time. One of the better hotels I’ve ever stayed at just because of that!

My dog and I took a 5 hr trip to see Beaks Interstate Park and booked a room at Gateway because they had the best prices, the closest to the park. After a friend couldn't make it, it ended up being our first solo overnight trip. The hospitality here is amazing. Being a little hesitant to staying alone, the host was beyond nice and accommodating. He showed me their security camera set up and eased my worries. The atmosphere at Gateway is the best. Outside was my favorite part, with all the fire pits and lights strung around was so beautiful. Our entire experience was wonderful and we will be returning again. I highly recommend staying here!!

I love this place!!! It is very welcoming, staff is amazing, location is off the grid!! Rooms was updated and clean I was impressed! I have nothing bad to say about this place! They even accommodated to my need to check in early! They offer side-by-side rentals so you can hit the 200 mile trails around there! It’s in the heart of the Breaks Interstate Park. I love that they had a seating area outside along with it being well lit at night! If ever going that way don’t hesitate to stop and stay a few nights, promise you won’t regret it!Rooms: Exceptionally clean and updated for its looksNearby activities: The Breaks Interstate Park, beautiful place any time of the year (unless you don’t drive in the snow)Food & drinks: They have a vending machine but the closest city is about 5 miles away so wasn’t a big deal!

We lived in this motel for about three weeks. It is located very close to a picturesque national park. The place is surrounded by mountains and forest, very pleasant clean air. The staff at the hotel were as friendly as possible; the hotel owner personally organized a barbecue evening and treated all the guests. The rooms are clean, cleaned every day, the hotel area is conducive to relaxation, you can make a fire in a separate clearing, sit with friends and colleagues. Large spacious parking. Thank you 🙏🏻

Carl and his partner were so kind and informative. I traveled here to bartend a wedding nearby and they assisted me with parking my car + horse trailer bar, along with detailed explanations of all the room accommodations! Both are very helpful and thoughtful individuals. It felt really nice to be seen and treated with such care and detail!Definitely recommend! Support these locals versus the chain hotel/motels!

I was visiting friends nearby in Clintwood, the staff was friendly and professional. With so many amazing vistas nearby and it's adjacency to Breaks Interstate Park; I recommend anyone even moderately interested in the area to rent a room for a few nights and experiance the beauty of the Virginia Mountains.Rooms: Clean and Cozy with good wi-fi and a smart tv so you can relax with your favorite apps after a day's adventure.Nearby activities: Breaks Interstate Park is within 5 minutes, it's essentially a natural theme park and a must see for any outdoorsy person.Noteworthy details: The staff were friendly and helpful, with beautiful areas outside to relax and even a fire pit for those chilly nights. Free bottled water was available to all guests in the lobby at all times of the day.

We had an excellent experience here, the hotel staff were super friendly and were able to divide our rooms up between us after the fact. Again, super helpful. We were on the TransAmerica bicycle trail and this hotel worked perfectly for us, I would definitely recommend to someone in the same situation or just in general to all tourist. The rooms were clean and had recently been refreshed.Noteworthy details: Outside pavilion area with light at night.

So glad we found this gem. It was peaceful and relaxing. Jennifer and Charlie were very sweet and great at making sure we had everything we needed. Had information in the rooms with the distances from Gateway to places of interest. Plus it was only 3 miles from Breaks interstate Park. I was hoping to see a bear hopefully next time we head that way we willWe'll most definitely be staying here when we do. We were really surprised at the room we had. It was awesome. A very nice place to stay. If we ever go back we will stay there again. Carl was very respectful. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed at! Best hospitality, service, and environment! Very, very pet friendly! Honestly, Jennifer and Charlie are some of the nicest, greatest people in the world! I’ve laughed till I’ve cried with them! What a pleasant surprise. The rooms were clean and smelled fresh. I talked with the lady at the front desk and it seems the hotel has a new owner and they've been making improvements over the past few months. The desk clerk was really accommodating and even had fresh coffee waiting for us each day. She mentioned that she, personally, deep-cleaned each room, top to bottom, in the last month. The decor is quaint and the property is just minutes from Breaks Park. Also pet-friendly--fur babies will have a ball exploring the woods and creek out back. You just have to make sure they don't run into the highway.

Great location between the breaks and ElkHorn City. It has new owners and is breathing life back into a old motel. The rooms were very clean. Staff is friendly. Building a bridge over the creek behind the property. A fire pit and pick nick tablets. This takes me back to when I was a kid. When finished this will be an amazing location. 👏 set outside and listen to the water rushing over the rocks.Nearby activities: The breaks va park amazing views!Safety: Very safe area.Noteworthy details: This motel takes you back into better times and the days of cool roadside motels.
