Bagels lacked a strong flavor despite the variety of flavors available. All of them tasted similar. With topping, and color being only noticeable difference. Cream cheese was colored to bright pink & green which seemed unnatural, but had a strong flavor compared to the bagels them selves. $5 for bagel with cream cheese. $8 for breaking sandwich. Pricey, yet didn’t taste very filling, when bagels normally are. While placing our order we were not asked if we wanted our bagel toasted or what cheese we wanted on our breakfast sandwiches. We came with another couple, one of asked about toasting, so we were able to ask for ours to be toasted. The other asked about the cheese, we didn’t, we didn’t know there was a choice. But they didn’t know bagels wouldn’t come automatically toasted. So they were upset when their bagel sandwiches came out cold because they were not toasted. Worker said when busy, they don’t toast bagels for sandwiches unless specifically specified by customer. Not a great move. I also was disappointed I had to have sandwich with American cheese, fake cheese I detest, after knowing I could of picked a real cheese instead to be in my sandwich.

The bagel was exactly how I liked, soft and fresh. My issue was that, I had one egg and crumbles of bacon and it wasn’t even warm!I remember being let out of class my senior year 21 years ago to get bagels. The bacon and egg on egg bagel (like I got today) was large. It had at least 2 eggs, a few slices of whole bacon and cheese. I remember it being almost difficult to take a bite off because it was so big. I wish it was like that now. Good food just lacking a little more is all.

We went around 1pm Sunday and it was definitely busy, but efficient. I waited probably 5 minutes for my bagel and about 15 for the breakfast special. Both were great, and bagels come with lots of cream cheese and cut in half. The breakfast potatoes were so good and seasoned so well. Overall the atmosphere is very JMU themed but like a cute cafe. There was plenty of space to sit and eat. Would come here again!

Do yourself a favor and go to Mr j's deli #2 instead...or any of them other than this one. I really can't explain the dumbassery I experienced. My bagel was cut differently on the top than the bottom so it all fell a part and I had to recut the bagel. But seriously anyone who makes a sandwhich or cuts bread even once in their life should know that the bottom pieces of bread don't pull apart in the opposite direction LOL. Not to mention our other bagel was entirely smushed to smithereens. Whoever made these bagels needs to go back to training and in all seriousness....learn how to cut bread properly. Not to mention neither bagel was toasted like requested...Mr j's deli #2 ALWAYS toasts my bagel correctly

For Harrisonburg having a NY style deli is heaven sent. The bagel and lox is great just the way it should be. Use the app as the locations are busy in the mornings. Promised times are generally reliable. If ordering from the counter is your thing, expect to wait a good while during busy times. Use the app, you won’t regret it.Parking: Parking on Virginia Ave location is tight.

I stopped by after some recommendation from some JMU alums on a mid Saturday morning. It was a couple people waiting for their food. Inside is nice decorated with a homage to JMU. My wife and I ordered a large coffee, a steak, egg and pepper Jack cheese on a garlic bagel, and a sausage, egg and cheese on an onion bagel.Service was friendly, but it took a pretty long time to get our food; 20 mins from when we order to when they called our name. I understand if it was a morning rush, but that seems pretty slow for just a sandwich when that’s one of the few things you mainly serve. The bagel sandwiches were pretty thin, like they use one egg and a bit of meat. My steak sandwich had steak on only a part of the sandwich. The bagel was okay and the only memorable part for me is how small it was. Even my wife who is not a big eater agrees that the sandwich was small and flat. I truly believe I had a much better steak and egg bagel breakfast sandwich from McDonald’s.

Fresh bagels ok coffee. No real half and half for coffee. Bagels are made daily and very fresh and good. I dont recommend the biscuits and gravy. Not even worthy of a picture. Mostly a white taistless gravey with only traces of meat over plain untoasted muffins. I tossed mine in the trash. They put your order at a pickup location and pack It to go even if you request dine in. My order was not all together so I had to chase down my bagle which they found for me later with no name on it. Plenty of nice tables for eating and reading. If they got some good coffee and cream this would be a great breakfast stop. I would also recommend a more personable way to give customers dine in food.

Stopped here with girlfriend for a first time try. Heard many good things from others but was utterly disappointed. The place itself was gross. Each table had many crumbs left over from other who eat before. We are at around 2 so I understand why they were there but when we walked in it was almost empty so there is no excuse. Next the food. I am a plain man so I had 2 plain bagels with butter. On the menu adding butter to your bagel is around an extra dollar. At first I was confused as to why but quickly found out. When my bagels arrived my excitements were quickly squashed. I opened the wrapped and looked upon the dead body of two bagels drowned by the butter from their adversaries. It was as if they had been caught spying on the store and water boarded by butter for their secrets. They were butter boarded the poor things. The second bagel wasn’t even toasted properly. Like they knew they screwed up the first and gave up on the second. The store itself is pretty on the inside and has good vibes. Girlfriend enjoyed her gluten free bagel sandwich. I’m sure that without butter the bagel would have been great but that does not excuse how nasty the tables were. They also had no napkins set out in the store. Disappointed and will be a while before I try again.

Ordered delivery, time between placing order and it arriving was 20 minutes; was literally in the driver's possession for only 5 minutes (we didn't realize how close this place was to our hotel), yet everything was room temperature when it arrived. The container for the biscuits and gravy was so soggy that my finger went through the bottom when I lifted it out of the bag. The top layers of the inside of the container peeled up with the biscuits when removing them to a plate and had to be picked off, and it also sloughed off into the gravy. I've had spaghetti and sauce come in similar containers from much further distances (therefore longer delivery times) that retained structural integrity, it'd be hard to convince me that the biscuits and gravy weren't already packaged and sitting out on a counter before we placed the order. The bag all our items came in wasn't wet on the inside, so it's not like there was trapped steam to cause that one container to get soggy. The breakfast potatoes were half-cooked. If they were the small pieces they were fine, anything bigger ranged from under-done to "raw enough it squeaks when you bite into it".And everything was so salty! Even the breakfast sandwich! I know sausage gravy is typically salty, but this was way more than I anticipated. The potatoes (at least the peices that were cooked) were only edible until the ketchup to mask the salt ran out. With how this place was rated, I didn't think we'd have so many issues...

This is a local cafe that makes fresh bagels daily. The bagels were fresh, just make sure you specify how much cream cheese you want. They could have been a little more toasted as well. The 2 eggs and home fries were a little but of a let down. We dined in and they were slammed to one side. the egg was fried when I ordered sunny up and it was a little greasy. The wait time wasnt but 10 minutes for our food. It's not a bad spot, definitely would rather support local than a chain.

Great bagel in Harrisonburg - they have 3 locations around town so take your pick. I just opted for a salt bagel w cream cheese - I had to scrape some of the salt off because it was just a weeeee too much. Will try the BEC next time as that's always a good litmus test.

Awesome place for bagels. Great price. We stop in as we are traveling through. We always pick up a couple bags of day old bagels to vacuum seal and freeze: $7 for a dozen!

Solid breakfast bagel spot for a decent price. Staff are busy but helpful, and the regulars are friendly and likely to strike up conversation. Lots of bagel flavors, sandwich options, drink options, and fine coffee. The bagel sandwich is pretty light on the fillings, which you may like if you actually want to finish it (like I did).

Bagel here is fantastic. I have tried the wheat extra toasted with cream cheese and yes egg and cheese. It was the best I had. Their medium roast coffee is so delicious. They give you the order in a bag and you can stay to dine in if you like. They also sell bagels in bags to take them home. If you don’t come early, chances are you will have along wait time. It’s worth the wait though. One thing I was confused about is the loyalty program. I signed up using my phone but was not sure how the points will be collected. I asked at the cashier but no clear clue.

Delicious bagels. We are here every day of our recent trip to Harrisonburg. There is a large variety of choices and the food was good. Service was slow a couple of times but overall a positive experience. I got the jalapeno bagel with egg, ham and cheese, pictures here. One of our party ordered the French toast bagel with pumpkin cream cheese and it was very good as well.

This location always has long lines, the food is mediocre yet I will go there if I don't feel like making my own breakfast. I will call ahead of time and place a to go order. This morning I called and when I said I wanted to place a to go order the employee responded with, we are only taking in store and online orders. My response, "well, you just lost a customer." When business is "that good," that you can't serve the customer, you loose that customer. That response caused me to make my own breakfast. I will never step in that store again.Response to owners response: There is nowhere in my review that I state I was denied service. Although I was denied the service of placing an order over the phone. I do not do online orders (required by all of the options Mr. J's listed), I will not submit my financial information online (anyone educated in computer operations knows the hacking risks), therefore the option of calling ahead to place an order so I don't have to wait in the long line that Mr. J's also refers to, was taken away. And I'm not sure how wasted food is an issue if the online order is paid for, Mr. J's got paid, the customer showed up - but that situation doesn't apply to my situation. Business is good, so much so Mr. J's can remove a customers preferred method of ordering, that is the stores perogative. And it is the customers perogative not to do what Mr. J's dictates if it goes against the way they do business - there are too many other businesses that don't have the long lines and limited ordering options.

I’ve been to this E Market location on multiple occasions & have always been pleased, but today was a different story. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but after asking for the situation to be fixed, I was incredibly disappointed and will likely never return.I ordered a custom sandwich online for pick up- specifically chicken sausage, pepper Jack cheese, scrambled egg, red onion, Mayo, s & p on two biscuits. After I picked it up and opened it up, I realized it only had the chicken sausage and pepper Jack cheese, nothing else. I called to see if I could either get my money back or to see if they would replace it. After finding the order to reference, the lady I spoke with on the phone said that I didn’t pay for the egg & that’s why it wasn’t on my sandwich. Confused, I told her I ordered online so I paid when I submitted the order; she then told me to bring the receipt back in and they would remake it.I was within five minutes so I drove back pretty much immediately, and when I went in, I was explaining the situation again to the cashier and another woman from the back completely interrupted, held the receipt from their end up in front of my face, and told me I didn’t pay for the egg. I again explained that I paid online and I wasn’t sure how I didn’t pay for the egg, but regardless of the egg, the only thing on my sandwich was the sausage and cheese (no Mayo, no red onion, no s&p). She huffed and went to the back and I overheard her & the cook complaining (loudly) that if the item wasn’t paid for, it wasn’t going on the sandwich. They then realized I also didn’t pay for the cheese (??) & continued to go on a tangent loud enough for me to hear. After probably 10-15 minutes, I finally got my “corrected” sandwich. When I got back to work, I opened my sandwich up & the biscuits were absolutely crumbled. I literally could not pick the sandwich up without it falling completely apart. This time it did have the egg, chicken sausage, and cheese, but nothing else. No Mayo, no red onion, no salt & pepper. I felt as though it was intentional. I was upset, lost my appetite, and didn’t have the energy to go deal with the staff again so I took a few bites and then just threw it away.I understand this location is quite busy and things can get overlooked, but this was unacceptable. It seems as though the online ordering system is messed up and that’s how my egg & cheese weren’t charged to my card (I’ve attached photos), but I shouldn’t be held responsible and made a fool for asking for my sandwich to be fixed. I would’ve paid the difference.

The bagels are good and never disappoints but I’m starting to feel like the home fries are getting more salty each time I get them. If seasoning was balanced well, it would be amazing but the seasoning gives it a strong salty taste. Salty taste and a spicy taste doesn’t go well together. The saltiness dominants the Spicy after taste flavor. Is there anyway to request to minimize the seasoning on the potatoes when a customer asks for it?

This review is solely based on the Italian sub ( if you want to call it that). For $10 bucks I was hoping for this sandwich to have some gerth, I was wrong. You get 1 to 2 paper thin meat slices and grated parm cheese. Who puts grated parm cheese on an Italian sandwich? This sandwich belongs on the shelf below the bottom shelf.

The menu was too overwhelming, that's really my biggest criticism. Otherwise, service was average, food was good, bagels were great. I'd recommend going here, but maybe look at the menu online beforehand.
