My husband and I are pet parents & have trusted Ashby Animal Clinic with our babies for many years. This week we had the privilege of meeting Dr Bolt when our 15 year old baby kitty became sick. Dr. Bolt was very compassionate & loving with our girl & explained everything in great detail. We had to make the very difficult decision to let our baby go and Dr. Bolt was nothing short of wonderful. She affirmed that we were making the right decision & was so gentle, sweet & sympathetic to her & us. Thank you Dr. Bolt for making a horrible day a little less stressful. Will & Rebecca Shifflett.

I have three cats and two dogs I take to this vet. I have had animals all my life and this is by far the best care I have ever received for my pets. It’s even been a factor in our discussion about moving away from the area. I have seen four doctors there and they are all exceptional.

Last minute I needed to find a place that would see my kitten I just adopted and Ashby Clinic was very flexible and managed to find the time to fit my kitten into there busy schedule.I didn’t have to wait to long, everyone was very friendly, my concerns were addressed, and it was a smooth easy process. I left feeling some relief and having some more knowledge of what my poo little kitten is going through and how I can help her feel better! Thank you all at the Ashby Clinic!

Ashby Animal Clinic is hands down the best in the Shenandoah Valley! They treat my pets (2 dogs and cat) and my police K-9 with such care and diligence… they take the time to explain EVERYTHING and don’t keep anything a secret. Every time I have had an appointment I have waited at least 30-45 minutes I don’t know why you even make an appointment. The last time took the cake had an appointment at 930 just for an x-ray. Got there no one was waiting 4 people came in after me and they took them. I waited 45 minutes and that was it. I would not recommend them unless you have all day to wait.

Ashby Animal Clinic is highly recommended. We will be transferring our records there permanently. Freida had a minor emergency when she got a piece of plastic stuck in the back of her jaw. She was developing horrendous breath that would knock you down. We called this morning and were seen this morning. In addition they were able to do Freida's annual exam and shots thereby saving us an additional trip. As a physician I know the time it takes to provide these extra services can wreck havoc with a schedule but we so appreciated their efforts and Freida is a happy Christmas elf.

I go here with my three cats, and we are always treated with kindness and respect. My concerns are always listened to, explanations are always given, and my babies are always treated with the utmost care. They also offer sanitary shaves which is really nice for our long hairs, and are very careful when clipping one of my cat's funky nails. I have never had a complaint about this place, and highly recommend them!

We love this vet! We've been to several different vets in the area and have never been entirely satisfied, until we came to Ashby. Their vets take time to thoroughly explain what's going on and how they're treating it, and we've even gotten follow-up calls to check on how we/our pets are doing a few days later. Everyone has always been friendly and helpful. I appreciate their online services, which make prescription refills and other requests super easy. I never feel like they're trying to gouge me for money, as we often end up just needing to have visit with the vet techs for things like shots, instead of seeing the actual vet for no real reason besides charging more money. Definitely the best veterinary service in the area, and I wish that I could get a doctor for myself around here that operated as great as these guys!

Have to say I am extremely disappointed in Ashby animal clinic. I'll start off that I have been taking my dog there for 16yrs. The last couple of times my dog has been sick, I have been charged any where between $400-600 to be told nothing is wrong, hes just old. I had called the week of Christmas this year trying to get my 16 yr old pup in for a lump on his side and diarrhea. Was told to call back on 12/27/23 at 8am to see if I could catch a cancelation. I was scheduled for Thurs 12/29 at 4pm. My pup Moots diarrhea had gotten worse, he was vomiting and lethargic wouldnt move much on 12/29 so I called to see if they could see Moot any earlier. When I called, they scheduled Moot for the following Thursday, (this has happened 3 times to me now, where he was scheduled for the wrong date or not at all). I was left on hold and the call took 30min. Ashby was unwilling and refused to see my sick pup that has been in their care for 16yrs. This was their mistake and unfortunately my 16 yr old dog had to suffer due to poor scheduling. I am extremely disappointed. The office manager was extremely rude and mad at me for a situation and was basically called a liar which was distressing because I was really concerned for my pup. Ashby, I have been extremely loyal and have spent thousands at your clinic, the way my dog was treated was a very unfortunately situation. I am now switching vets. I hope in the future you dont treat loyal customers like the way I was treated today.

My rescue needed his first yearly checkup and vaccinations. We’ve recently moved so I needed a place that I felt comfortable with or my boy would pick up on my mood. I’ve had him a year (my July 4th present to myself).He’s just 3 now and still a little nervous with new places. All the staff were wonderful, not just friendly but sensitive to Rory’s needs. We were given all the time we needed. Plenty of opportunity to ask questions and much advise given in return. We really appreciated this quality visit and expect to use Ashby Animal Clinic for many years to come.

I just recommended Ashby Animal Clinic to my neighbor. I love and appreciate the loving care your staff provides for my fur babies, and to me their worried parent. Dr. Emma was wonderful this morning. I enjoyed meeting her for the first time. It was neat to hear that she had remembered doing Riley's Spay surgery. I had not met her then. We were worried that we wouldn't find a good vet for our dog since he's pretty "special" but everyone here is great. The front desk is friendly, the vet assistants always make sure our dog is comfy, and the vets are fantastic. They understand our concerns, make sure we're satisfied with their care planning, and always follow up when they say they will. Highly highly recommend.

I brought my new dog Abraham for his shots and checkup today, having never been to this clinic before, I was unsure what to expect. Everything about this place is wonderful. Dr. Kettlecamp was the kindest, most compassionate vet I have met. The vet tech was awesome, as were the receptionists. I loved their gentle and relaxed approach with my dog and how kind they were to me. I will definitely be back to this vet for all my dogs needs!!

Highly recommend!! I've been bringing my dog here for over a year now, and every single employee I have encountered has been professional, kind and compassionate. The vets and technicians always take plenty of time during appointments and devote their full attention.My dog had a minor unexpected surgery last fall, and everyone was very helpful and transparent about the procedure from start to finish, as well as what the costs would be, which I appreciated! There were no hidden fees or surprises. I have been to other practices where it seems like they care more about "upselling" and recommending the most expensive (and perhaps unnecessary) treatments, and appointments are rushed. That is NOT the case at Ashby at all. I truly feel like everyone there really loves animals and will work with owners to determine the best course of action for each individual pet. My most recent visit was with Dr. Smith, and he handled my giant nervous dog with so much patience and kindness. Can't recommend Ashby Animal Clinic enough!!

I was so very impressed with Dr.May. She made my very terrified dog feel at ease and took her time to get to know all about him. She went over all of the prices with me before any treatment was done and made sure I understood everything. My pup is not an easy one to work with, but Dr.May and the staff took every measure possible to be sure he got the treatment that he needed. The front desk staff were also very helpful and so friendly and inviting. I am so happy to have finally found a vet that treats my dog like family.

Our experience with Ashby Animal Clinic has been excellent through the years. They are very efficient and do a great job. Originally we had a cat that our neighbor did not want to keep any longer. Now we have a new kitten, Mowgli, which we were able to catch a week after it was abandoned late one night in the middle of Mossy Creek Road in Augusta County. We are off to a great start with the fine people at Ashby helping us.

My cat has had chronic health problems since he was a kitten. He's been a patient of Dr. Lisa May's for the last 6 years, and I can't say enough good things about her. She's worked tirelessly with us to try and figure out what my cat's issue is and how best to treat it. She provides advice on what to do without being pushy. And she always calls me back the same day whenever I have a question (usually well after hours, indicating that she must work a lot more than she needs to!). Dr. May and the other staff at Ashby really care about your pets, and I'm so happy to have found them for my cats.

Great experience despite the bad news we received on our Lab. We thought our dog had an obstruction and needed surgery. Even though they were booked for the day, they were still able to squeeze us in for an appt. and possible surgery/ Dr. Smith was very professional, compassionate, thorough and gave us several options to care for our Lab. Everyone at Ashby animal clinic played a part in saving my precious cat's life. Dr. Bell and Dr. Kettlecamp were especially helpful and patient with us throughout the whole process. They thoroughly explained several different steps of his treatment and did not jump to the most extreme solution right away. Together we tried a lot of different things and I have hope that the final procedure was the ultimate solution; that procedure unfortunately requires a lot of monitoring now but I know they will always have his best interest in mind. I would absolutely recommend this vet, and especially Dr. Bell for any poor kitties like my own with persistent urinary tract issues. The staff all knows myself and my kitty by name now and I always feel welcomed when I am there, they are all very compassionate people. I will always use them as long as I am living in this area :)
