They always seem to be stocked and friendly staff. They have the pet salon right when you enter on the right. My dog didn't care for this location.I've been here for about a year now and they have the same cobwebs on their shelves. The rows have been messy the last few times that I've been there.

Ashley does an amazing job grooming my dog. Vetco and Petco don't communicate but use the same storefront. I am no longer able to have her groomed there due to miscommunications with her rabies vaccine. I will find a great groomer again one day. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing there, would never trust my service dog in a place like that.

I was in this store on a Saturday for a simple purchase of dog food for our pets. No personal at the register. Ask for help three times before I was answered, and asked to please wait and she would be over. I just wanted to get my product and leave at this point. Didn't want to hear excuses. Told her so, manager comes up to register and begins again to tell me how busy they are and because I don't want to hear the excuses, I was asked to leave without my purchase because she didn't like my attitude. I asked the manager her name, she responded by telling me she did not have to tell her name and she went on to say that I was on personal property and if I didn't leave she would call the police. All because I refused to listen to an excuse. When I go to tractor supply for my pets, someone greets me at the door. Always someone to check you out at the register. Always available personal around. Gloucester, Virginia store is not worth going to, plus if this is truly Petco policy. America be aware.

We get our dogs nails trimmed here. Used to be you could do walk ins and it was convenient and even the website says a nail trim is walk in but last year or so it's appointment only. Twice we have driven all the way here after making an appointment the day before and we are told we can't be seen, no one is here to do it, and they dont even have a record of the appointment. We've had other issues too, being denied during a scheduled appointment due to not having rabies papers on file but we had turned it in and they were up to date then to find out later when we rebring in the papers that they did have them on file all along as we knew. The nails usually don't look much different after they are done anyway. We have a vet that is a further drive but worth it for us vs the hassle we've had with Petco both in booking the appointment and in quality of nail trimming. I'm not sure if we are the only ones having this issue but just a warning to double check your appointment especially if you live a ways away.

Overall nice store, but for some reason, this location smells like a cheap date every time you go in there. The smell of cologne is overpowering, especially in the reptile area.

There were no employees anywhere to help with little animals and when i went to the regis/er the young man was dnarky with me. I played it off by joking but i wont go back to the gloucester va store unless im desperate.

Waited at counter to check out for over 15 minutes. There was an employee standing by grooming salon that acknowledged me but never waited on me or asked if I needed help. Finally manager came up front for something apologized and checked me out.I will continue to go there but if service was better and the store was stocked which it never is this could be a gold mine. It's the only pet store within 50 miles of me and a lot of others. Care a lot is coming to Gloucester and if service is better you may lose business. I Love wholehearted for my pets and my vet is fine with it as well. Plus this is a great run too instead of ordering online. I do a ton of social media giveaways on Instagram my dogs acct and I always get stuff from Petco.The manager Hailey deserves more help she's always nice and gives excellent customer service. I appreciate her

Went and bought a 5gallon glofish tank from them spent almost 400 dollars on everything bought a 5 different glofish to go in it just to find out the fish they gave me dont go together and the tank they sold me thats specifically made for glow fishis to small for glow fish and they all died now I have 400 bucks worth of fish gear that I can't use I will never go back to any of these petco stores as long as I live they ripped me off knowing and willingly...

Great place for pet care. the staff is very informed of pet needs and friendly to their customers. The grooming staff I have to say are caring to pets. My pet is nervous and scary to strangers, but they manage to make him feel comfortable. I appreciate that. I would recommend grooming to my friends and family.. excellent service

I’m disgusted by this store! My husband is a below the knee amputee today we went to the store only to have my husband trip over tubing for fish tanks, had my husband fell it could have been very dangerous being he’s a cancer patient and also been on blood thinner injections for the last 10 years. There was so much stuff all over this store that you couldn’t even push your cart through. I don’t understand how the store has gotten so much worse this last month. I’m so angry I will go across the water to care a lot before I ever step foot in petco again I will also be contacting corporate offices Monday morning. This mess could potentially be fatal to someone in our community, cleanup, or get out.

Christina at Petco helped my husband and I with our aquarium- and she gave wonderful, in depth advice! We've had many similar experiences here, and they ALWAYS treat our dog like the proper valued customer that she is. Store is clean, well stocked, and the staff is top notch. We're quite picky about pet stores, but this Petco meets good quality standards.

Great shop that has everything my doggy could ever want. They have an awesome bulk treat section too. I also love that they have the cutest animals for sale as pets, melts my heart they are there, but I know they'll find good families. The cashiers are always super friendly too.

Something was done to my dog and hasn't been the same since she left the grooming part. She hasn't played since. Hasn't been eating right or nothing ever since we left. And when we left she didn't know who me or my dad was so the workers gave her something. She was also acting like someone was beating on her when we picked her up.

Took my chihuahua to PetCo in a driving rain for a nail trim like I have done so many times in the past and was turned away. Said I had to have an appt. If I have to make an appt. For a nail trim I will just go to my vet!! Try to do this on the weekends so I don’t have to miss work and they say it’s just their PetCo! Very stressful for dog go out in storm for a quick nail trim and be turned away while there are 3 groomers back and two are talking to each other! I won’t go there again! They lost my business!

Really disappointed in the lack of large bird items and the lack of birds all together.Update 10/2021Still a pitiful assortment of large bird food, toys, snacks and supplies. Chewy and Amazon will continue to receive our money.3/8/2022 zero to almost no large bird items, dozens of dead fish and the aquarium live plants were very sad looking.11/6/2023 decided to give the store another try, absolutely pitiful and what bird food they do have is DOUBLE of other retailers and online retailers like Amazon & Chewy.

The place is clean. I didn't have to wait. Groomer was friendly. My dog Ash looked like a different dog when she was done! Smelled good, and his fur was shining!
