We were greatly impressed at not just the selection of pet supplies, but the amount of MADE IN AMERICA items!!! That's a tall task nowadays, we were able to buy a new litter box (made in America) at a competitive price to the big box stores. Shop local, buy American!!!

My dog had been having issues with her ears and the night before she had scratch so bad that her ears started bleeding. She needed a cone for her head and we were driving down to Petco, but decided to give the small pet business a phone call to see if they had the cone and if they were open. The lady on the phone was very nice including explaining dog neck size. I have a big dog and very often don’t find stuff in her size. They closed in 10 min I was 15 min away. She very nicely said that they would be there after closing so I could run in. I went in with a picture on my cell phone so I could show her what size my dog was. But she had all the sizes waiting for me at the front and I could try to see what would fit her, without having to dig around. $24 for an XL cone. Great price and very nice person.I ended up leaving my phone there because of me pulling it out to show how big my dog was. We called it and they picked up, we told them we would be there tomorrow to pick it up but was told VERY nicely that if we ran they would stay these so I could get it. THANK YOU GUYS, I needed it for work this morning. And thank you to the young lady who get stuck waiting in for me. I know you wanted to go home 20 min earlier and again THANK YOU for sticking behind so I could get it.We never liked buying from PetCo anyways. Prices were always so high and they never really have what I need. I would advise you to give whatever small business you need something from a quick call to make sure they have it on hand. So you don’t get mad if you get there and they don’t have whatever it is. We had been driving to Oyster Point to go to Care-alot. But now we have a new pet store. They went out of their way to be nice to a random customer and like I said it was KONG name brand and only cost me $24Thank you guys again

DONT GO IN THAT STORE!!!My fiance and I went into this store only to quickly exit. We couldn't shop there. There was such a strong pet odor apparently due to their failure to clean the animal enclosures.The local health department needs to look into this facility as it is an unhealthy environment for the public and "the animals"!!!!

Poor animal care over all. Animals are either in way to small of a habitate that is bone dry, way to little soil, or little to no enrichment for 90% of the reptiles. Most reptile are only given a food and water bowl with 90% empty of a cage and others are either give the space, but not the full extent of what is needed. When small animals are being cleaned, no monitoring at times and can just easily be picked up and walked out with. Ferrets are either way to younge or sick. Parakeets that were being originally sold look stunted and beaks overgrown...... If a private business is to be run with a full extent of being able to do what is best... and to show it as an example and not give false information to pet parents and or customers interested in animals for just sales and not for the animals wellfare or longevity.... its pretty messed up and shouldn't be looked over.

They're employees are so nice and helpful also I bought about 20 pets from them and none had health problems and unlike petco they are affordable and the staff never asks about your cage setup or anything else they just give you the animal

My families purchasing experience with this store was less than acceptable and professional. We had the unfortunate experience of purchasing a Rat that succumb to illness within the 7 day guarantee - Staff was accusatory about the event, my son was devastated by the attitude taken by staff, my wife was belittled and shamed by staff. Staff miss-identified the type of Rat they sold, so they questioned weather or not we brought in the right Rat. They did not refund the purchase because in their opinion the habitat was kept too close to a window (not sure how a Rat survives in the Midwest in a similar habitat / cage where the ambient temperature in a home is colder than the breeze in Virginia) They would not replace the Rat - but instead gave my wife a 40% discount on a new Rat. My son left the store feeling as though he'd committed a crime. Staff mishandled and dropped animals from 5+ feet in the air while lecturing my family about proper care of animals. I spoke with the staff member that assisted my wife the following day and asked that the owner reach out and discuss the issue with me. The owner still has not called. Its been almost 2 weeks. The staff member tried to lecture me as well. At that point I had dealt with multiple staff - each giving a different set of guidelines and recommendations for animal care (multiple previous visits). I've personally raised multiple Rats, while living in the Midwest. I know how hardy they are. Their 7 day agreement is set up to disallow any refunds - it's totally subjective on their part. My wife could have moved that habitat closer to the window to take a picture in better lighting. She could also have lied and printed a habitat off the internet and they wouldn't know the difference. I can forgive bad service from staff - I do not forgive the owner for not reaching out. Do not frequent this location - they care very little for customers, or the care of the animals. They are not very professional and they certainly do not work in a place that has the slightest concern with what good customer service looks like. I am appalled by the attitude portrayed to me when I confronted the store and I am less than impressed by their lack of follow up (from ownership). My family will not be returning, and I can not in good conscience recommend this store to another family. No child or parent should have deal with that type of treatment. Had the owner taken the time to call me, I would have recommended customer service training - never mind the money I spent. Train your staff to deal with clients. Be present, responsible and accountable for their actions. Disgraceful.

I have bought 3 pet rats here, 1 double Rex, a dumbo and a Himalayan weeks ago all are well and growing as expected. I have also purchased several reptiles and go weekly for all my feeding needs, crickets rodents and worms. The staff is friendly and more than willing to assist with sizing the rodents for appropriate feeding guidelines. I have also purchased quite a few fish that were all healthy. They are well versed in all aspects of aquatics! Thank you Pet Zone for coming to Gloucester we needed a non corporate option!!!

My family and I love this place!!!! We went in for the first time and the staff was so nice and welcoming. They let us hold two very sweet birds it was such a wonderful experience. This was the best experience I have had in a pet shop!!!! They were so helpful and helped us find new food for our pitty baby.

They had a great selection and everything I needed. We have looked a lot of places for toys that are fun for big dogs. The selection in other places isn't great. We were very happy with what we found at pet zone and they also have a great selection of reptiles and fish. I will definitely go back.

Been coming here since they opened, at first it was just because supporting a mom and pop store was the right thing to do. Now it’s pretty much exclusive and will be fully exclusive if they ever get into dog grooming *hint hint*. Anyway the thing that really sets this above and beyond anyone else is their commitment to you after your purchase. Everyone here is great, Lauren especially in tips for raising a snake and handling an aquarium snafu. Thanks everyone at pet zone.

I love how feel at home in the store and the amount of animal socialization you're able to do to actually get to know your pet before purchasing and of course the beautiful Anna who is the popular attraction with tons of personality this is just an awesome pet store and I love it so much

I'm very excited these guys are here! I love their Yorktown store and glad there's one in Gloucester now. Every week, since they are still in their opening phase, I go in and see what's new! I'm never disappointed. I love looking at the animals and can't wait until they finish getting all of their fish set up. This will be my new go to place. It already is for fish supplies. Def much less expensive than your brick and morter. Excited to see the final results!!

I visited this location today and they were very helpful! Everyone was super nice and the one worker I went to answered all of my questions thoroughly. Nobody was trying to force me to buy anything today and the worker found a good source for me to research further before buying a pet. I will definitely be buying pets from here when I plan on getting a pet.

My families first time visiting, the whole staff was up front and never gave any acknowledgment to us. We moved on but then saw them spinning a macaw around on a branch trying to get him to fly which ended up with him flinging off landing on a heater. Bird was yelling in distress while the staff laughed. Looked around the store all the animals where huddled down in their cages and seemed very upset. Bunny cages seem to not be very clean either. One hamster was laying in an odd position and not sure if I could see it breathing, it didn't move but I hope it was ok. Not sure what was going on in the store but from the animals reaction I would not buy from them and will not return.

Store is filthy. Smells like urine. Staff didn't even acknowledge you. Had a question and they told me to wait. Guess playing with the bird is more important than customers money. I will stick to chewy and get the special food I need. I wanted to support a local bussiness but I will never walk through those doors again

This place is so gross! Smells terrible and there’s dust everywhere. Wanted to buy a bone for my dog but there were clumps of dust all over them. Nope! Never again. I’ve been in pet stores with animals and there’s nearly no smell.

I always have a great experience here and the people are super knowledgeable. They are more exspensive than say Petco or PetSmart BUT you really get quality products here and super healthy animals so it's with every red cent !!!

Honestly worlds better than the Petco across the street. Most of the pets here are surrenders & rescues looking for new homes. I picked up some hornworms to raise, I look forward to coming back whenever I need to restock for my beardie.

Sadly the animals need better care. Hamster was dying and covered in mites. All of them look sad and in a unhappy conditions. Please do away with selling the small animals. Staff was friendly and responsive to dying hamster.

Went to their story yesterday looking for a raincoat for my dog they had the one that I wanted The young lady that was helping me was very nice before I bought it I ask if it did not fit can I return it The older lady turn around And said Exchange only no refund. So I left the store Did not buy it .

Staff very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They were not bothered at all that I was using them as a school outing for my prek grandson. We came home and did research on sugar gliders and bunny's.

I would give this business a zero if I could. Manager and assistant manager are rude. Due to covid I was not able to make a return and that is very understandable. So I should at least be able to return after covid is over and that was not a option because the return policy is 7 days and will be way passed that when this is over and done.

I honestly love this place and I’m so glad they opened one in Gloucester! Staff is so friendly and they have a wider variety of animals and a lot cheaper prices than Petco! Love Love Love!
