The young lady at the Counter was such a great help . The store is very clean and easy to shop in. I would highly recommend this store over the “ other one”. The fish and plants are gong to happy. Thanks again .

I made an appt for my 10 months old husky, and they did a very poor job for my 90$ included basic deshedding, shower, nails trim and a little of hair trim. And when my puppy got home his neck which a collar area still tangle and his paw fur still not trim yet ! Im not very pleased with what i paid and what we got for puppy ! You will lose alot of customer if this issue keeps happening ! What a waste of my money ! I was expecting something more professional with what i paid for ! This is my last time and i don’t recommend anyone coming to petco no more for the poor job for what they charge !the photo below is his paw fur after the grooming .. still the same before we went

The store staff it self is great no complaints. Even helped me get a discount. By the vet tech staff is absolutely terrible. Let’s start with how the person helping me had a shocked attitude. Didn’t great me or my kitten, but instead proceeded to poke him through the carrier and was baffled when he hissed back at her. The refused to vaccinate my cat because of this. Correct me if I’m wrong as I am not a vet, but I thought they are suppose to be experienced with scared animals. Would you tell an infant to get out of a doctors office for crying ? So After I drove 45 minutes, was greeted with attitude, and being told my cat will not be getting vaccinated, they proceeded to call my cat untamed, aggressive, and problematic. Great customer service.

I really like the people that work here that’s why I still use retail instead of ordering online! Especially Lilly-she is super sweet and very, very compassionate! Be sure, and ask for her when you go there!

Great store but the humidity in all of their tropical reptile tanks are very low. Most are at around 20 % which is basically desert air. Be caution when purchasing a tropical reptile from here.

Store employee shamed me when I asked her for a low maintenance fish for my seven year old son, who is in the Autism Spectrum and just wants a fish to feed and keep him company. The employee gave me an entire lecture about how all pets require space, love and not such thing as low maintenance exists. Which was very confusing because once I asked about the Bettas she immediately changed her tone and said “well I’d guess those are considered low maintenance”. I walked away, my son picked his fish, paid and left.

I would be more likely to shop at Petco again if you expanded your refill program for kitty litter! I want to switch my girl to pine litter because it's more environmentally friendly and if you had a program where I could show up, weigh an empty container, then pay to refill it with pine litter I'd be a VERY regular customer! :) Thanks for taking such a big step to make less plastic waste; it means a lot to me.

Rebecca the groomer is a liar! My appointment was at 815. I get there at 807 and the front door is locked. Now I am a new dog owner and this same petco did the same thing to me about 8 weeks ago when I had an appointment at 8 but eventually the manager drove up and opened the door for me. So I waited I figured somebody would eventually pull up and open the door like they did last time. Nope I’m waiting and eventually go back and wait in my car around 820 because it’s windy and cold. But I’m watching the door as best I can. There was another guy out there waiting with his two dogs to get in as well. He eventually got in his car and left aka there goes another sale because of Rebecca. I continue to wait and call the store. As soon as it rings it says the store is closed so I hang up. I’m still waiting and the doordash driver pulls up with chic fil a. He’s standing around waiting five minutes and leaves the chick fil a order right in front of petco. Why am I giving all these details? Because Rebecca said I wasn’t there. You can check the cameras and see I was clearly there waiting outside that door for 15 minutes in the cold and wind.I waited in my car until 9 when the store opened because I thought clearly there has been a misunderstanding. I went into the grooming door and waited a few minutes and no one showed up. I went into the main store asked if the groomer was in and if I could speak to a manager. I simply thought I could get a discount for my time wasted and the door being locked. Again this is the second time this has happened to me. But nope no remorse from Rebecca just “I’m not arguing with you. You weren’t here.” Excuse me how can I be here if the door is locked! I waited out in the windy cold weather for nearly 15 minutes! I called the store and it said it was closed. I looked through the glass and no one was there. She said I could have left a message. She took absolutely no responsibility it’s all my fault because I couldn’t get through a locked door. Because when I called the store it said it was closed and I didn’t leave a message. Petco could have left that front door unlocked and have the second door to the main door locked so no one would go through and have the groomers door unlocked. Apparently that’s too much common sense and it’s all the customers fault if you can’t teleport in. Rebecca could have called me or sent a message or something. She had enough time to order herself something to eat but couldn’t call to see where I was. Nope it’s my fault because I can’t get through a locked door. It’s my fault because the store was closed so no one answered the phone when I called. I wasted an hour of my life waiting for my dog not to get groomed. I couldn’t believe she lied to my face and the managers and they just completely blew me off completely. No, sorry for wasting your time. Nothing.

They do a good job for bathing, but we had them give our golden a haircut and it's pretty bad. Pictures don't do it justice. Whew! Glad it grows back. 🤣

If you are going to buy fish be ready to give an interview, Weirdest experience ever when I went to this Petco, the male employee (long hair don’t know name) who was straight up hostile for no reason, just wouldn’t sell me the fish, went to petsmart and bought same Angel fish. I guess I just need to stick to Petsmart.

From the moment I walked into the store, I knew I’d come to the right place! I was greeted with a warm welcome, a smile and a willing and eager attitude to assist! My daughter immediately chimed in with her many questions about caring for a ferret, fish and guinea pig. We had settled on getting a fish during this visit, but just before checking out, we saw the most adorable guinea pig. It was a split decision and although the store was near closing, both the store manager, Brandon and sales partner, Jan did not make us feel rushed. Rather, they took ample time to ensure our questions were answered and that we made the best selections. Jan took time to walk us through the aisles making helpful recommendations for the essentials needed for our guinea pig’s new home. She was polite and very helpful! Brandon was very knowledgeable about the store operations and pet care and together they made an amazing team! It was the best customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. It was amazing to see such an engaged and hands-on manager working out on the floor vs behind the scene, who genuinely showed an interest in providing guest satisfaction and making the experience memorable for us. My daughter and I decided to name the guinea pig “BJ”, so that we can always remember Brandon & Jan, the two amazing people who made it possible for us to come home with a guinea pig on this trip to Petco 😊 Thank you for all you did to provide us with such excellent customer service!! We appreciate it.

Do not bring your dog here for grooming. These people are liars, and their unprofessional manager likes to say, “go ahead and call corporate”. I did not bother to argue with them because I knew they were uneducated and below me.

Shout out to “Red” for being so patient & helping my daughter & me pick out our first freshwater aquarium kit with priceless advice on how to set it up right. Had an excellent 1st time experience at this Short Pump Petco!! Will recommend “Red” hands down to all my friends interested in setting up aquarium for the first time :)

I could not get the sale priced Himalayan Chews at the Gloucester Va. store as it showed online they were backordered. So I went to the Short Pump/Richmond/Glen Allen, Va. store where I was greeted by store manager Max. He listened to my problem & on his way into work, stopped by a smaller store to pick up what I was trying to get & brought them in to his store, for me to buy. My furbabies love these Himalayan Chews & consume quite a few so needless to say, these sales make stocking up, worthwhile. I bought over $200.00 worth & had shipped about $40 worth of the Yogurt Himalayan Chews. Mine absolutely loved those! All of the staff members at the Glen Allen store were polite & helpful. Unfortunately, the Gloucester, Va. store has apparently had some staffing & management issues so I tend not to shop there unless necessary. I am in Richmond usually once a week & do a bit of shopping while there. I am in rescue & we send one of the Himalayan Yaks in the adoption bags along with a new harness/leash, shampoo/conditioner, pet food (Fresh Pet), etc.

Great team working there, but the prices are way too high! If I didn't have a rush need for a crate this weekend, I would've never bought it. I could have gotten the same/similar crate through Amazon for $50 less.

Disgusting to see how they treat their “products”. This quaker was unhealthy and clearly miserable. They put 2 toys in the empty cage that it couldn’t even reach. These parrots require different perches, enrichment and foraging products. They shouldn’t be able to carry parrots.

I had my dogs groomed sunday, they were fine with 1 of them.But my aussie, they were careless, he has cuts in the underarms, his hair is uneven..I feel like I gave away 180$ and now I will need to expend more recovering his fur

I brought Lucky, my little yorkshire on Memorial Day 2019 and I realized on next day that he had a cut on his right elbow. There was a scissor’s path on hit fur next to the cut so I was sure it was done while grooming.I know accidents can happen but nobody told me anything by the time I picked him up and that’s so absurd and reckless that made me nervous.I went to the store on the next day and talked to Wilson who told me the manager would call me on the next day.Five days have passed and I had no contact from this company.Before bringing your dog, bear in mind that they don’t have responsibility with your pet

We have 3 large dogs and a very hard time finding chews / toys that are safe and last more than 2 minutes. We happened to be walking by Jan and asked her for recommendations. She was not only extremely knowledgeable but honest about what would best suit our needs. She was super friendly, and we are so grateful for her help. We shop at this store frequently and have had great experiences, and tonight was above and beyond!

This petco is terrible. STEVEN THE ASSISTANT MANAGER is the most miserable excuse for a person I have ever met before. They sold me the wrong fish- I realized it before I even got home. I brought it back and straight to my face he told me “well we’re going to have to kill it if you return it” while laughing at me, but I literally could not keep the fish because it would have fought with my other fish.. (clown loach vs. Cory) most of the other people who work here are so stuck up it’s not even worth asking any questions. There’s also never any parking so it makes it a real chore to go there. The petco on staples mills is A LOT better. I recommend taking the drive to that one instead of this godforsaken place.Also don’t ever get roped into the vital care!! They don’t tell you up front that you will have to pay for it for a year and you cannot cancel. Biggest waste of money in my opinion, especially since I have to drive all the way to staples mill now.

I went there last month to get a new hermit crab after one of mine died during her molt. The only person on staff was talking down to me because I asked if there was any in stock since the two other stores I went to were out. After a not so great selection process he decided to ring out another customer in line.Walked out and will not return.
