I hate to write a negative review because I like to support our local small businesses, but it’s sad to have watched this business go somewhat downhill since the old owners retired and the new ones took over. When the old owners had the place, it never smelled bad in there and was always as neat and tidy as it could be given there was so much in a small space. They were friendly and always greeted us happily. But since the new ownership, the place smells like animal feces every time we go in there. No one ever bothers to speak to us, let alone ask if we need help, and we feel like we’re bothering them just to check out. Definitely a different vibe than before…It’s kind of heartbreaking really. We shop there because it’s better than going to Wytheville, but it makes me sad to see what’s happening. My 13 year old won’t even go in with me anymore because of the constant smell. It being the only privately owned pet store in the area, they should strive to be the best instead of giving it a half-hearted effort just because they don’t have to.

Galaxy Pets have been wonderful and helpful! They have great customer service and have always assisted with questions and pet needs. We have had an amazing experience with our bunny baby! Glad that we went to Galaxy Pets! No better pet store.

What a cute little place with lots of lovely critters. Went in yesterday for a hamster 🐹 they had a lot to pick from they all looked very well cared for the man was very nice we drove from dobson nc just to come here and I definitely will be making more trips back for all my pet needs. Thanks 😊

This place was reasonably priced a couple years back, now it’s almost doubled! Their cats used to be $25 a piece and the dogs was between 50-100$ depending! My husband called last Monday about them possibly taking a mother calico cat with calico kittens that randomly showed up, they told us to bring them in on Saturday that they would take her and the only one kitten she had.Yesterday we heard nothing from them about a time, so today he called and re-asked them about it and when to bring them in, just for them to catch an awful attitude and tell him that they had someone else call and they had no more room left to take the cats we found! They quote on quote said “Sorry, Try again another weekend or find someone else.” -CLICK- and hung up.Not only that though, I bought some canned crickets for my reptile, and there was mold all over on the inside of the can and the crickets!I dont know what the world is going on but it’s one thing after another!

The girl that works there was not very nice I tried to buy a few angelfish and I've had my tank set up almost 13 to 14 hours and she claimed that I hadn't had it set up long enough and that couldn't get them I'm sorry but if you're going to run a pet store I know how it is not knowing what is going to happen to the animals after they leave there but people they go to Pet Shops for animals are usually the ones that take care of them but I was very unhappy with her attitude towards me I try to tell her about a fish that I bought there a few days ago didn't even make it home and I only live 30 minutes away and I went straight home and then she asked me oh well we can test your water for you like she didn't listen to anything I said it was their water and their fish that I bought that died on me and of course you know they're not going to give you a different fish or guarantee anything but I wasn't expecting any money or trade in I just wanted her to know that her fish that she had sold me wasn't very healthy but to the woman that works there get you a better attitude with your customers maybe you'll get some more and take care of better care of your animals maybe it'll last long enough for people to get them home I don't know I'm very upset with her attitude towards me after my last visit and it will be my last visit there never again well I buy anything from this place ever again

I bought my two rats from them and one of them has diabetes and has been severely sick since I got him two months ago. He’s had two vet appointment this past week because of the bad quality breeding. I only gave as many stars as I did because he is a friendly, kind, and loving rat.

Stopped for sugar glider pouches, they didn't have much of a selection. Very small store and I noticed the animals weren't on the greatest diet for them. i.E. the hedgehogs were on the wrong food, it's not proper for them, their nutrition or their health.Over all staff was friendly though

Fish haven't been doing well... (Bettas) When they die less then 16 hours later and they dont try to fix the issue its sad especially when they charge $20 a betta. Mine passed also didnt say a word but when a family member got on a week later and within 16 hours its dead kinda a HEY its not just one betta! A young teenanger works hard for their money!!! A replacement would have been the rught thing not offering a veil fish. Ive had a few bettas never had this issue.

On July 15, 2020, I went in and purchased fish food. 4 or 5 customers in small store, only one other than me wearing mask against Covid-19. Neither of two staff were wearing masks. Governor Northam has ordered masks inside public places and social distancing. As I paid for my purchase, both staff members were at register, where NO precautions or hand sanitizer was offered. I said, "I see you're not wearing masks." The large male operating the register told me that he didn't appreciate being called out for not wearing a mask. I responded that I think wearing a mask shows concern for others, and helps prevent spread of the virus. He countered that I don't have to come back into his store if I don't like it. I assured him that was my commitment. If you want to avoid being infected, don't go there.

I took my grandkids in to look at parakeets and the staff was so helpful. Answered all of our many questions. Ended up taking 2 home with us. Very healthy birds. The grandkids love them!

This or store is great Peggie is the owner and anytime I go in there if I have a pet question or tank question she all ways has a answer and has great prices. She sales birds,reptiles,spiders,cats,dogs,ferrets, hamsters,guinea pigs, and fish and all accessories
