We recently purchased a cake and cupcakes for a 50th Wedding Anniversary party. The cake was made and frosted by Food City (my son done the cut flowers) and the cupcakes were stunning! (We added the gold beads) The cake was moist and the frosting was excellent!

Love the variety and the meats are always good. We like the gluten free options from produce to snacks too. It's always great to receive points to help save on the cost of gas as well.

I ordered my family’s Thanksgiving meal for Go Cart pickup at this location. My pickup time was noon, and I planned my travel from Knoxville, TN, to get to Food City to pick it up right on time. At noon, I was told they were behind and it would be 30 more minutes. I was nice about it and said I would wait. At 12:40, I was told it would be 15 more minutes. I’m still in the 15-minute wait, but I’ve learned my lesson: don’t trust Food City in Galax, VA, with your family’s Thanksgiving dinner.

We stopped at Food City because it looked like a nice store. We are visiting the area for two weeks and could not believe what happened to us in this store. We filled out buggy and checked out. Our purchased seemed a lot higher then we thought it would be. I saw a pie was two dollars higher then marked. I asked and was told I did not use my store card. I said we were just passing through and don't have a card. In our travels every case like this the checker scans a card and does not take advantage of the guest. Here they did. We will never shop in another Food City in our travels and we will tell everybody how we were treated. Enjoy what you took from us.

Had a bad several experiences with the deli then when I told Mike the manager he took a tone of condescension and acted like with entitled attitude as if he wasn't a 40 something man who wasted his life and is now stuck with the barely above minimum wage job babysitting high-school kids doing a part time gig then move on to actually be beneficial to society I can understand why he's bitter and sad but it's not my fault and is no excuse for poor customer serviceGave 2 stars the pharmacy staff is pretty nice

Nice, clean store with great selections available. The produce is better and cheaper at Walmart. The crab cakes no longer contain real crab. The tuna steaks are fresh and frequently go on sale. Pop also goes on sale at good prices.

This used to be the place to go. They treat employees bad which is why they all left and now managers are 18. Friday sales away. The pandemic drove this place away. You can not charge this much and stay relevant nooooo way.

Nicely organized for a mid-size grocery and pharmacy. Deli and bakery trying to be tops, but a ways yet to go. Silly, large plastic black gorillas here and there for sale in this grocery store. Why? Wish the meat department had beef ribs for grilling, though the usual pork ribs are often available. We like shopping here and want to see this store succeed.

If you are used to "upscale" grocery stores common in large cities and are disappointed with the selection and quality in the local Galax stores (which are not bad, just inconsistent) then you are going to want to check out Food City. They have selections you can't find in the other stores and their prices are reasonable. And they offer a "value card" that allows you to get discounts on some items that are on sale. And you can accumulate points that allow you to get a discount on gas at there service island.

This is one of my favorite groceries stores just for the friendly service. The store is most of the time in great shape as in cleanliness. If you are needing help with looking for an item, an associate has always been helpful to locate it. This store because of the staff, makes the customers feel valued. Even when Food City is extremely busy, they are continuously restocking. Love how this company has the rewards program by using their Value Card and earn points to unlock a .15 gas reward. Those do come in handy with price of gas going up so much.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed but there isn’t much of a variety of ice cream lately so I slid in here to see it they have my favorite because it’s getting really hard to find and there it was !! Fully stocked. I had a basket on my arm so I ran. Back to get a cart and loaded it down ! Lol. Then I grabbed some other things that I hadn’t seen before (brands) and I. Melted my credit card ! I recommend this place. To anybody that thinks “they are not gonna have it”. And BOOM They dooooo .!!

Food City carries Prime meats, you can't find that anywhere unless you drive to a big city market. The selection is great but the staff could be improved. I always have a long wait in the deli and the staff is not friendly nor helpful. I would suggest a new staff from the ones who are handling out mask to the ones checking you out. If not for this, I would give a five star review. The store is the best place around and always clean.
