We visited for lunch on a Saturday. The cashier was very helpful with the menu and describing what they had to offer. All of the staff was helpful! Their bathrooms were clean. We enjoyed the tomato bisque soup and pimiento cheese grilled sandwich. It was very delicious. They first brought out a regular grilled cheese but when we pointed out the mistake we were quickly provided with the correct sandwich. They have a lot on their menu I look forward to trying! Once you eat you can proceed to the marketplace and browse everything on offer. Lots of antiques and some new items. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a conversation with the cashier where he inquired about who we were and why we were visiting. Will be going back again!

Was in town chauffering a friend's step son to General District Court. No visitors allowed in the court room. Had my pal Shell with. Was incredibly hot & humid that day. After waiting for about an hour, we decided to try to find breakfast. The Briar Patch showed as being very close to our location in downtown Galax.I've visited subsequently, as well. Initially, we both ordered the homemade biscuits. Shell got biscuits/gravy. I had a bacon, cheese, egg biscuit. I also ordered an iced mocha latte. They actually have an espresso press on site! Coffee was yummy. Breakfast was yummy too. A tad expensive for two people. At 10am the place was popping with business.The marketplace is quaint with all sorts of antiquity trinkets & treasures to be found.I will add that my next visit to the Cafe was not quite as good. The bacon man can grill bacon for me, anytime. Just perfect! The espresso was a little bitter on my second visit and they were out of biscuits by 10 am. I did have sourdough toast with my order but it's just not the same.This spot is located right on main street. Definitely. a favorite cafe of the locals or frequent court visitors. There is indoor/outdoor seating available. Go early, the fluffy, homemade biscuits do not last til brunch.If you're in the area browsing shops or visiting court, definitely worth a trip!

We order often for to go orders, we will be stopping after today. There is ALWAYS something missing from our order, whether it be chips or the side, sometimes an entire meal. Today it was a soup. The parking situation is always kinda messy, and the woman who works the register is never very friendly. It's a shame because the food we do get in our orders is always really good.*updating my review: I went back a few times since this review and everything was great! Whatever the issue was they have gotten it figured out. Plus their offer below to make things right, was a huge plus! The ladies working there gave my wife a good laugh about my user name! Thanks for being awesome y'all! 💜 Fat Rat!

**edited for update**Sad to say, it's a place I refuse to go back to. Protecting servers, isn't their priority. It's not a place where everyone can feel comfortable, unless ya have a certain skin tone, or believe in not being inclusive. I believe women should be protected, respected, everyone should be treated equal, love is love. I can't in good faith spend my money here.I miss the servers, they were what brought me in.Vegetarian options: They have a tasty, delicious veggie wrap. So fresh, and filling, Ya won't leave hungry!!!

I traveled to Galax for work from Richmond, VA. I got the Miss Piggy with Cole slaw for take out and it was the best barbecue and cole slaw that I have ever eaten.

Cuban sandwich very tasty with a side of baked beans ( lukewarm and sour) sandwich was delicious I think I will try a different side next time. Atmosphere is nice out door seating is pleasant for viewing downtown Galax.

This was a surprise find in downtown Galax. We ate breakfast here and the food was excellent. I had biscuits and gravy while my wife had eggs and sausage. While there are tables to eat at, there is no table service for food. You order your food at the cash register and the staff brings the food to your table. The food was hot and delicious. However, we did not enjoy eating with styrofoam plates and plastic utensils. After eating, we shopped in the marketplace for antiques. All in all it was an excellent experience and we will return.

The food was phenomenal. I got their version of a Cuban and it was delicious. And their Mac and cheese can revial and I can make at home. So delicious. They serve breakfast and lunch all day. Can't recommend enough 🤤🤤🤤

This is a hidden gem in Galax! We discovered it years ago while antique shopping and have been returning customers since. Great soups, sandwiches , coffee drinks and ICE CREAM! Charming and great customer service. They also have music frequently which adds to the charm.

This was my first visit and I was truly impressed . The atmosphere was relaxing and friendly. Since I'm meticulously neat person I pay attention to detail. I witnessed the staff taking extra time to clean the kitchen. The dining area was very neat and clean and the seating was sufficient. . The food my wife and I ordered was very fresh and tasty. A great selection of hot meals, sandwiches, desserts and coffee drinks are on the menu. This business also sells antiques and lots of unique items related to Southwest Virginia. Downtown Galax has added new shops and restaurants and the area is being modernized. We will definitely be returning again.

Coffee and smoothies were amazing. The coffee was rich with the perfect match of sweetness and acidity. The service was great both times I visited. Having the marketplace in the Cafe is brilliant. My family had an amazing time roaming around looking at the endless treasures. Definitely recommend!!!
