Do NOT take your dog for grooming at Petsmart in Gainesville, VA. My dog looks like a skinned chicken. Admittedly, she did have a few matts....literally a few matts. The groomer (I forgot her name, because I was so ticked) did not even attempt to comb out any of the matts/tangles. My daughter and I bathed Alani less than one week ago and spent two hours detangling and removing matts. Additionally, she was brushed and detangled several times this week. My dog went in needing a haircut, but came back looking like a neglected pet. Please see the before and after photos. The store did offer for me not to pay for the haircut, under their satisfaction guarantee. Thanks, but that is not the point. If their grooming salon is not going to do the job properly, then don't offer the services. I will NOT be returning.

Both of our Doodle puppies were matted after leaving them long all winter. It was their first time we have had dogs groomed at PetSmart and they did a great job. Including a before and after photo of our Sheepadoodle.

The store was clean for a pet store. Staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was well-organized, and the location is great - there are many other stores and restaurants I frequent in the same area, such as Target, Potbelly, Five Guys, Panera, Starbucks, and Chipotle.

They carry the prescription dog food we need for our dog. I inadvertently purchased the wrong kibble size. They kindly exchanged it for the correct size without any trouble.

Do NOT take your dog to be groomed here. The groomer is extremely rude. She left my dog in a crate for 3.5 hours before grooming him and then complained that he was agitated. She stopped grooming him half-way through his appointment and told me to take my dog home.I have been taking my dog to be groomed at Pet Smart in Waynesboro for 4 years and they never had a problem with my dog and did great work.The customer before me was also upset with the grooming salon and will not be bringing their dog here again.

I would give a negative star if I could. I have been taking my little dog for grooming for years. As he has a mild heart murmur, and was cleared by the cardiologist, they still refused to groom him. In my opinion that is bad service.

I got my terrier groomed by Rose today and I would have to say that it was the best experience I have had with any pet salon. Not only was the cut exactly what I wanted but Rose was also very knowledgeable and gave me some great advice. I would recommend Rose and this salon for your next groom.

We ran in to get some dog treats and toys and ended up spending a long time viewing the live animals and fish. My granddaughter's loved the atmosphere and the friendly customer service.

First off, I just want to say this: imagine firing your employee for filing a harassment claim against a male coworker. Imagine firing HER because she’s SCARED but not him? Absolutely disgusting. Second, I went in here and the way the animals are being treated is disgusting. There’s always tons of dead fish in the tanks, excessive amount of small animal droppings, and they all look like they are about to die. Do better.

Took my daughter’s 4 year old dog to get nails trimmed as I have many times before. Clerk could not find dog or contact phone number in their “system”. She told me I needed validation of rabies shots to get dog’s nails trimmed. I did not have rabies validation with me (who keeps that kind of documentation on their person??). I laughed, shook my head and walked out. These people are a joke…..

Shopping in this store is an absolute nightmare. The aisles are disorganized and items are constantly pulled out all over the floors, and when I tried to ask not one but TWO associates for help, they were both rude to me. Not to mention there were about 30 dead beta fishes in their tanks. I will shop literally anywhere else until this place cleans up its act.

I just recently moved to gainesville after living in Sterling for 17 years. Today I had a grooming appointment today at 10:30am. My car ended up having issues starting up for whatever reason and I wasn’t able to get on the road until 10:35, I get to petsmart at 10:45ish, I ask the lady if they were still willing to take my dog in. I was not going to be upset if they told me they were going to since I was 15 minutes late. She told me to wait for the assigned groomer (Barbara) I chose to come back and we will see, which I had no problem with that. Once Barbara came back They asked her if she was still willing to take my dog. Barbara gave no response and tells them to print out the information. While she’s filling her part out she tells me “I called you to cancel your appointment” I was confused because I never received any phone call, I check my call history and nothing. So I ask if she remembers what phone number she called she responds with “whatever phone number is on there” in a rude way. I was already regretting the choice of taking my dog here. Once I filled out the paperwork Barbara pats my dog twice and doesn’t bother to check her for Matt’s or anything. I started to feel like she was not going to do her job well. As I handed her my dog, I was deciding whether I should just cancel and take my dog to the petsmart in sterling, since I was already comfortable with the groomers there. But I decided to hope for the best and hope that she would be kind with my dog. I came back two hours later and was told my dog was handed off to brandy who was so much nicer to me. I felt really relieved when I heard Barbara was not the one who worked on my dog. Overall, the situation could have been worse but I know that on my part I was late and should’ve called but I was in such a rush the thought of calling them flew past me. But Barbara could’ve just told me she wouldn’t take my dog since I was late and I wouldn’t have been upset.

My new pup, Handsome (because he so handsome) walked in a little anxious have never being in a PetSmart before. PetSmart's organized but still daunting to a new dog Dad. Staff could tell right off-the-bat and one by one helped me pick essentials and fly gear for my pup; throwing so me gems of doggy knowledge my way at the same time. Handsome and I were laughing and wagging the entire time there and left feel more confident and excited about our life together ahead. Thanks to the staff for just being themselves and putting a good rub on my pup!

The cashier with the purple hair was not friendly. I understand there is a pandemic going around and you don't want to be there. I don't want to be there either but I have to feed my dog. Please be a little more pleasant or DON'T GO TO WORK. I will not return to this store and will take my money to Pets supplies and more in Manassas. The cashier is so friendly and helpful.

Please do not take your dog here. My dog was limping when I picked her up and now has to be on medications due to having neck pain that is causing her to limp. Every time she tries to walk she yelps. My dog was in perfect health condition before entering the grooming facility. Consider another grooming facility before this one. Really disappointed with the way they handle this case. In the 6 years that my dog has been getting groomed this has NEVER happened. My dog is a sweet girl who has never caused any issues with groomers.

A large PetSmart with a good selection of everything you might need for your pet, including the more exotic types. They also have a variety of small animals ranging from lizards to guinea pigs available for purchase as well as birds ranging from finches to small parrots (no macaws). Along the left wall of the store are fish for your home aquarium and towards the back along the same wall you will find cats available for adoption from a local rescue. All the way at the back is a veterinarian. They also offer full grooming services. Staff are friendly, though like most places these days they seem to be understaffed. Prices are a little higher than you would find at the supermarket but a lot of the items they carry can’t be easily found anywhere other than a pet store. There is plenty of parking and since the shop is located in Virginia Gateway there are plenty of other shops and restaurants available.

Go to store for our two beagles. I am appalled that are allow themselves to be associated with banfield pet hospital.But as far as petsmart is concerned the service is good and sometimes they have the food we need sometimes we have to shop elsewhere

Prices considerably higher than their online subsidiary; however, when you need something in a hurry, they are there and usually stocked. Staff are considerate about masking still (much appreciated!), customers less so.

I've decided I am no longer shopping at this location. I have been going to this PetSmart since it opened and the customer service has gone way down hill. Over the last few months I have taken my puppy in once a week to keep up on his socialization. Every time I go in it's the same story. Last night two employees were standing at the front register one of them being a trainer. Neither of them greeted me when I walked in the store. When I was checking out the same cashier and trainer where there. My puppy went to greet the cashier giving her a friendly sniff. He was completely ignored. It's a pet store for crying out loud! You'd think the least they could do was give your pup a little pet, but no. I much prefer other pet stores in the area that greet you with a friendly smile and offer your pup a treat. A little customer service goes a long way!
