Beautiful, very well maintained RV park! No bad site in the whole park. Spacious and the quietest campground I’ve ever been to. Campers were so friendly. The owner, Tom, is incredibly kind and engaging-stopping by to check in on us. The icing on the cake was the warm bread delivered to the campground one of the mornings we were there! We can’t wait to return and stay longer than 3 nights!

Extremely well maintained. Wonderful people. We stayed 3 nights in site 7. We almost never use private RV parks but this one is a gem. Would stay again and definitely recommend it.Nearby activities: We spent 2 days riding the New River State Park. The ice cream at the Red Caboose was wonderful too.Noteworthy details: Clean bathroom facilities. Washer and dryer on site.

A very beautiful, well taken care of RV campground in a quaint, small Virginia town (Fries, VA - pronounced freeze) not far from Galax. We are less than a block away from the New River and the New River trail. Sites are spacious and beautifully landscaped. Our site, #5, has a front yard and a small creek. Laundry on site as well as dumpster for trash collection.Nearby activities: Downtown Galax - lots to see/visit and great eateries!Walkability: Less than a block away from New River access and trail.Noteworthy details: Wonderful owner who takes pride in his campground. Awesome camp host on site - super friendly.

This is a quiet and well-maintained RV Park near the southwest terminus of the 57-mile New River Trail State Park. The bath house (2 bathrooms, each with a shower) are kept very clean. The trail is about a tenth of a mile away, so with a short bike ride on quiet Main Street, you're on the trail.Nearby activities: Cycling on New River Trail. Ice cream at "the caboose" near the river.

This park is a gem. It's small, immaculately maintained and laid back. The owner is friendly and his knowledge of the area is excellent. New River Bike trail is right across the street and so is the river. This RV park ranks in the top 5 of the hundreds of parks we've stayed in over the years. I would definitely come back.

Probably the best campground I ever stayed, Tom is fantastic, though only about 20 sites , the one's I saw looked really nice, just a few clicks from the New River where you can walk, bike or fish. Beautiful area, I highly recommend trying to get a spot here, you wouldn't regret it!!!

Beautifully landscaped place with large lots, a sweet little creek running alongside the sites, plenty of privacy and a very chill atmosphere. Our host, Tom, was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast at the nearby cafe, groceries at the dollar store , and an afternoon ice cream treat were all a short walk away. And we enjoyed a spectacular bike ride along the New River. We absolutely loved it here and hope to return!

This is one of the nicest parks!! The owner, Tom, makes sure each camper feels welcome and comfortable. We have stayed twice this year and especially love how level the sites are and the cleanliness of the park. We love bike riding the New River Trail from the campsite to the Fries Junction. Tom works hard to make sure his campers have a happy experience.

A friend recommended this place to us and said it was very special - he was right! Each spot has its own little special touch to it. Some spots are right next to the creek and others and a little further up the road with more space. Cell service is really spotty (Verizon) but turning on Wi-Fi calling enabled us to get texts and some calling. Wi-Fi is excellent. Full-hookups. Easy entrance and exit. The grounds are extremely well kept, it’s quiet and laid back and everyone here has been so friendly. There is a clean private bathhouse with shower with good pressure and hot water (one male, one female). Tom and his wife are beyond nice and friendly and very helpful. We will certainly be coming back here if we’re in the area again.

Clean and very quiet. We're very happy to be staying here. Our only issue was, the park is not on the river like some pics portrayed. There is a small creek runs through the park.

Our first visit. Would give it 6 stars if we could. Meticulously maintained. Small campground with perfect layout giving much privacy in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The proximity to New River Trail is invaluable -- what a great place to recreate. The Cafe in Fries and the country store at edge of town both have great food at low prices. The catfish sandwich was Glenn's favorite. The campground owner is a great guy, always working! He even fixed our bike rack, on the 1st day of our 1 week stay. The only thing I was sorry about was leaving. Reservations made for this fall.

This by far is the nicest, spacious and friendliest camping ground I've found. Tom, the owner, is very accommodating and very friendly to everyone he encounters. We couldn't have asked for a better spot with shade trees, landscaped surroundings, swing, stream running through your site or close by. It is an extremely well maintained property, very clean and has amenities not offered by others. I give it the highest rating possible. A nice trail close by is great as well as walking distance to the New River and the best little ice cream caboose in town. Everyone is so nice. A+

Tom is indeed a good "Guy"! Very friendly and helpful. The low water bridge gas station on the way to Galax from Fries is a fine place for breakfast. They will cook most anything you want and it will be excellent (plain wrapper ambiance) and can be served in the little back room giving you a chance to chat up the local old boys. Everything about the campground was first rate. It is very apparent that Tom loves this place. Stayed 3 nights in mid-April. The river was way up and provided some dramatic views of rapids while riding the trail to Ivanhoe and back.

Tom gave us site 15 which is shaded and cool with the stream running right next to us. Big deck and picnic table and a swing up in the woods. What a delight! We are very close to the New River and Trail. Great wifi and cable TVIt's peaceful and beautiful, 5 stars!

A Beautiful Place that use to have Hugh Fish , great place to Grow up . But in my opinion ! Was a great loss when the Train was done away with and made into a so called Nature trail , with Park Rangers and thousands of people going everywhere, messing up the Beauty of The Good Ole Days. The Train alone was one of the most Beautiful Thing Ever ! Nothing like it is now ! Also , The Low Water Bridge , when it was being built , my Grandfather, James Alex Isom , told them that they were always going to have trouble with the Galax end , with Flooding, because it was way too Low not to be flooded in bad weather ☁️ conditions . They laughed at him because they were, so called "Professional Engineer's". Well they should have paid attention to my Grandfather! I laugh every time it flood's now. Makes me proud of my Heritage and my Grandfather's Good Ole Common sense ! Lol a Beautiful Place now , but in my opinion, was the Best when we had the Beautiful Train . I really miss the great days of ole ! Simple and Powerful Great People that was , The Most Beautiful to me Over the way things are today. Simple is getting to be a thing of the past. Still a Beautiful place, but never will be the same in my Book !

A beautiful wooded small campground for RV’s only – about 14 RVs. There is a river that runs along each site. The bath house has a large shower and is well maintained. No laundry facilities. The New River Trail is basically across the street, it is an easy flat well maintained trail. We would love to return here.

This place is a little gem tucked away on a hillside. Tom, the owner of the park takes much pride in his hidden paradise. It’s always clean and tidy. Level water front parking makes for a quick transition from towing to biking. I can’t wIt to come back next trip!

Description - Quiet, peaceful, manicured, friendly, less than 20 mostly large spots. Activities - Bicycling/hiking/walking 50+ miles crushed gravel trail along new river; Kayaking, Tubing on new river; 30 minute drive to Blue Ridge Parkway. Tiny town atmosphere, lots of small venue live music and festivals. Have been there twice and will keep going back! Just hope all you newbies here leave enough vacancy so i can still get a reservation....
