Old school hardware store. Neat. Clean. Organized. You'll find items you cannot find at "Lowe's " or "Home Depot". Friendly personnel. Knowledgeable. Highly recommended

Love this place! I typically go in for the post office in the back but I've never once gone in and not gotten amazing customer service and I'm almost always greeted with a "hi how are you?" From the Earls employees. Absolutely my favorite hardware store, I'd choose over homedepo or Lowe's anyday.

I now go out of my way, Lowes is 2 Mike's True Value about 9 miles. Staff goes out of their way, friendly, extremely knowledgeable. I like the idea of supporting small businesses.

This place is great! It’s very convenient, and the staff is great. Not like going to the big box store where they have 3 people working and everything is locked up. They always have a ton of people helping, and the prices are great. Plus, they have odd items you can’t find anywhere else.

Cannot say enough about this store and the staff. The #1 hardware store in the area. If they had a lumber yard they would put Lowe's and HD out of business. Prices are reasonable and it's worth going there to help local established business rather than driving in all the traffic out to a big box. And the staff is absolutely the best!

I googled a product and it was half the price at Earls compared to Lowes. I sometimes forget that they are in town. I will check their prices from now on before going to Lowes or HD.

Highly recommend. If you need help finding something or if you would like to get information regarding how to accomplish a project, this is the place for you. I go often and plan to continue. These folk know what they have and can help you to quickly find it. PLUS they do not have to stop and look at their phone to find products.

I only went in to get one thing, but one of the associates saw me lost and helped me find what I was looking for. That's good customer service in my book!

Nice small town hardware store. Everyone here except for post office is friendly. One lady in the post office is always kind of rude when I come to drop off packages. She always questions my "media mail" telling me she can open the package to check, or arguing that an SD card is not considered to be media mail. Would have otherwise given all 5 stars. ;(

This place has been around for years. The staff are helpful and hardworking, the shelves are always stocked, and the prices are reasonable. If you need any tools or hardware, go here before Lowe's or Home Depot.

For years, Earl's Hardware was a neighborhood treasure. It was "the" place to find all the doodads and thingamabobs that are needed to keep your home or shop working at its best, and to complete all those projects your spouse keeps coming up with. Sadly, with the loss of the former store manager, Mike, the place has started to decline. Where previously it seemed like there was a helpful and knowledgeable employee just a few strides away, now it's getting more and more difficult to find an employee, and if you do then half the time they have zero knowledge about what you're looking for. I once brought in an item I needed a replacement for and handed it to the employee and they flat out told me such a thing doesn't exist.Today I went in looking for a common carriage bolt in a standard size but could not find any in the aisles for screws and nuts so, after going around the section twice I went looking for an employee to help me. There were none to be seen except for a young woman at the register. I walked up and down a few more aisles looking for help but still couldn't find anyone. As I left the store to come home I complained to the young lady about being unable to find any help and she just smiled, wished me a nice day and went back to whatever she was doing on her phone.I just bought what I needed on Amazon at three times what they would have cost at Earl's. This is why stores like Earls are losing out to online retailers. Customer service has always been the one big edge local stores had over online sellers and big box stores. It's sad to see Earl's throwing that advantage away and I'll miss them when they're gone.

This is a great store. It reminds me of a hardware store I used to visit when I was a kid. You can find all kinds of great things, and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommended!

I love to go to Earls. The store is well stocked, the files in the glad and paint areas and in the Post Office are always helpful and make the visit a positive experience. So why not 5 stars? Because their counter workers are miserable, and they love to force their bad attitude on customers. Maybe a friendly greeting would be expecting too much, but if I've bought a toilet repair kit, do you really think I want to schlep it out to my car without a bag?

Went to the post office inside Earls True Value Hardware. They also have typical hardware store items as well as some seasonal items.

Great little hardware store close to downtown Fredericksburg, just across the Chatham bridge. Has everything you could need for home and garden tools, seasonal items, Sherwin Williams paint!

Very eagerly helpful & knowledgeable floor staff, but cashiers don't seem to smile much. Much smaller than Home Depot or Lowe's but somehow you can find just about all the same things, albeit at a slightly more expensive price. Store doubles as a Post Office, which is a bonus.

This location has so many memories from my childhood to the present time. I love seeing the coin operated children's Horse in the front of the store. When I was a young child that was the highlight of my time spent with my grandparents was a trip to Earls Grocery and riding the Horse outside the store. Now it's Earls Tru Value but it still has the same small town feel and service it had when it was a grocery store. The staff are always helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. The owners are wonderful and treat everyone las if you're family. Anything you might need if they don't have it just ask. If it's possible to get in stock for you it's done. I love the local support and decor they offer. This is the place to go for all your hardware needs.

Excellent hardware store with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The depth of stock rivals that of the more well known "big box" stores. Need that odd fastener or device, they probably have it. They also rent equipment and party supplies. There's even a genuine US post office in the store. Prices may be slightly higher than other sources but the convenience and service offered makes me want to support this local asset.

Always great! They stocked the lawn care product I had a hard time finding and about 10,000 other items. Very good range of products, fair pricing and well staffed. Just like the old home town hardware shop I remember as a child.

Their variety of general goods isn't quite as good as Lowe's or Home Depot's but they have an excellent selection of fasteners. What I really like about going here is that if you need a little fiddly bit for something or you lost the little fiddly bit to something, you can actually bring that thing in and go down the fastener aisle and try screws or nuts or whatever right out of the drawers until you find exactly what you need, and then you can buy that ONE screw. It's excellent. The staff has also been very helpful with my many weird and crazy projects. They actually recognize me now, it's kind of satisfying to be that girl who's always building something strange and oddly specific. One time I asked for a really rare part and they didn't have it, but they told me exactly where I could go for it. Excellent selection of fasteners, and excellent customer service.

Easy to access and always has what i need though not the lowest prices. Even found a couple of small hand sanitizers. They were able to help me out by cutting PVC pipe to the lengths I needed at no additional cost

Will never do business here again. Was told by long time employee Vito that I could return my purchase and get my money back "no problem" if the item was returned unused and sealed in original box. He told me this twice. Of course when I attempted to return the item (3 days later) this was not the case at all. Store manager Kari at first refused to refund my money. She was much more concerned about being able to return the item to her supplier than making sure my experience at her store was a good one. Whatever happened to good old "customer satisfaction"? She informed me the next day, after getting permission from her supplier, that an exception would be made and eventually refunded my money minus a 5% "restocking" fee. I have never had so much grief and stress over a return in my life. I'll do my business elsewhere, thank you, like Home Depot or Lowe's where my satisfaction has always been a priority.
