OUTSTANDING Restaurant, Food & Service! I drove in from Va Beach to celebrate Father’s Day with my Dad who lives in Roanoke . A friend recommended this restaurant & I was so impressed. The entree’s were excellent & cocktails perfect (pictures attached). The cherry on the top was the entire staff was amazing .We were greeted by a young lady that had a beautiful personality (didn’t get her name but she had pink hair) , our server was Jessie. She was very attentive, gave great recommendations & patient with my dad who walks with a cane. The bartender was Ehro (not sure of the spelling) . Not only were the drinks excellent but very pretty. So good , we ordered another round. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.I highly recommend this restaurant & its worth every penny.

Second time eating there. First time I tried the steak and potatoes and it was great! Last night the white oak tea taverns Chicken salad was definitely a miss .. not sure what they did to change the recipe but it was not the same at all. Chicken salad should be smooth and a comfort food. The chicken salad last night had a vinegar taste and it was definitely a twang that was unnecessary. Even the color was weird... Guessing it was a pinkish color because they added balsamic vinegar.... Hard pass for me so far warning to others. I would try again and eat something different for sure

First time eating here, came here to celebrate a special night out. As food connoisseurs, we are used to eating at a variety of restaurants, all over the US and at all different levels from simple to high-end. Overall the atmosphere and server, Dakota, were great! Our appetizer and even slice of pie we would definitely recommend and come back for! Unfortunately, our entrees fell a little short and were not worth the price tag seeing as for less money we could have had better tasting food down in the valley. I would try again but the overall impression was slightly disappointing.

2nd time we went. Not sure if they were short staffed but service was extremely slow, once we received our food it was cold, we were hungry at this point and just ate. Food looked amazing wish it would of been hotter.

We spent 4th of July on the rooftop watching fireworks and enjoying amazing drinks and food! We had a duck breast with pomegranate sauce and catfish. Both were excellent! The drink menu has some very creative options. I highly recommend the Blackberry Breckenridge. They were extremely crowded because of the holiday and sightline to the fireworks and that affected their service a bit. The location is just so wonderful, though, with its airplane bar and view of the town that it's well worth a wait.

We had the tacos which were delicious. We were not able to eat on the rooftop because we didn't have reservations. So if you to eat on the roof call ahead. Service was good the night we ate there just a little spread thin. Our server was training a new person and tending bar.

Awesome place, great ambiance, friendly people in a small town with beautiful views. Wow! Just go there for the atmosphere and simple snacks with some drinks. Great place to celebrate the weekend.

Our second visit, not as nice as the first. Two cocktails ordered, one was brought 15 minutes after the first. Yikes. We ordered the same entrees, steak and catfish. Sides were the same, but the steak and catfish were so different! Did they change chefs? We didn't ask. Steak ordered medium, was medium well.The rooftop is nice, but you need good service and food to go with it. Probably won't return, which is disappointing for a nice atmosphere and view.

Relaxing ambiance with beautiful views, but the service does not live up to expectations. Given the high price and marketing, one would anticipate more qualified staff to be serving “premium” cocktails and food, rather than teenagers? who are lacking in service etiquette. Will try again later in the season.Parking: Abundant street parking right out frontKid-friendliness: Would not recommend for small children

Great location and view from the rooftop. Our food tasted good, but one item was missing a main ingredient, and the soups we originally ordered weren’t available. Later our bill was correct, but when I paid with the server, I was charged for someone else’s bill ( much larger bill ). They did correct it after I pointed it out, but it shouldn’t have gotten to that point. It wasn’t even busy.

Great view. Great drinks. My tacos were served cold and after waiting a generous amount of time, we had to flag our server down to get a replacement. Switched to the Pimento cheese dip, which was pretty good. However, our server treated us like 2nd class citizens. Walking past our table to get to others. Kind of sad and dissapointing. We will probably go back but just for the drinks and view. We will sit at the bar.

We love the atmosphere and the drinks for sure! The Botetourt Burger and asiago spinach chicken pie were both very good! The service is definitely still needing some fine tuning though - we waited about 30 minutes passed our reservation time to get a table (staff didn't know what table we were supposed to have? So they offered a hightop finally.) I totally understand timing is hard to judge for reservations but the servers all seemed to have no sense of procedure or problem solving. Definitely going to give it another shot because the atmosphere/food is worth it just small things to work on like anywhere!

Chicken pot pie was made with freezer. Burnt frozen vegetables so much shredded chicken. There was no gravy in the pie and no seasoning... Returned it to get to Fincastle Burger instead. As for medium rare burger , got medium well ....a little too done for my taste. And the warm drinks... View is nice with the food. Could be better for the price...

Wonderful experience in this historic building with a new cafe. The owner is personable and has a lovely presence. The bagels tasted super fresh and the cappuccino was one of the best I’ve had. It was super clean and they obviously will be keeping it that way. I hope to be back someday and see the additions! Thank you!

We love 1772! The food is delicious. We like the small plate concept allowing us to share and taste different flavors. The service is very friendly and customer focused. We love the outdoor rooftop dining with a great view of the town square and mountains.

If you are looking for a great place to enjoy a cocktail and have a delicious dinner 1772 Rooftop on Main is the spot! The food is out of this world. You can tell Head Chef William Barkett and staff pay close attention to detail when preparing every dish. Atmosphere is unbeatable! Staff is very friendly and make you feel at home. Highly recommend this place.

Drinks and food were absolutely amazing. Every member of the staff we spoke with was so nice and accommodating. We drove 35 minutes to visit and it was totally worth it. We will be back soon.Parking: No problem finding parkingKid-friendliness: We saw at least 2 kids in high chairs and other children enjoying the roof top.

Update Oct 2022: we have been here only twice this year, and doubt we will be going back. The bartender that put the place on the map is long gone and the new ones cannot mix a decent drink. The furniture on the rooftop is weathering badly, and the service is pretty lackluster. Took 30 minutes to get a drink last night; it wasn't great. We weren't interested in ordering food at that point and left.Original review:Best cocktails I've ever had. Nexus is a mixologist extraordinaire. The venue is also outstanding: peaceful, great view, and about the only thing around Fincastle worth visiting of an evening.I've never been blown away by the food value. It's good enough, but also pricey. We usually go for drinks and eat dinner elsewhere.

Very casual and clean. Very nice atmosphere. They were out of some ingredients needed for our order. The regular coffee has a little to be desired. Hope they are successful, Fincastle needs a place like this. Will go back and try again.

Nice ambiance, food was excellent, service (for our table) was poor. Both food and drinks took entirely too long, we observed several other tables seated after us receiving their food and drinks before us. The waitress did apologize and provided free desert.

I think I have found my new favorite work location! This little cafe is beautiful inside with a very calming atmosphere. From grabbing some coffee or breakfast with a friend to doing homework or paperwork for your job, this is the perfect space. The staff is extremely polite, kind, and welcoming from the moment you walk into the door. The food is SO reasonably priced! On top of that, they have the BEST coffee in the area. I haven't tasted better black coffee anywhere (and I visit a lot of coffee shops). I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot more time here!
