To an outstanding employee named Chad. There was a discrepancy on the price of an on sale item and he didn't even question me on it or had a manager check. I was telling the truth and without hesitation he took my word for it and discounted the item telling me the whole time not to worry and he believes me. A wonderful example of customer service!

Pharmacy has been so good to us for many years. Grateful for their time and attention. Excellent location. Certainly room for improvement, but the store size makes it easy to get in and out.

I don’t rate places one star very often but this one is worthy. The bathroom is falling apart and it’s in the employee lounge! The owners haven’t updated this place in forever and it shows. There is a Whole Foods coming up soon and it will run this business out of town very quickly when you compare the two establishments! The manager was also very rude telling me I wasn’t allowed to take photos in a grocery store - seriously?

It keeps getting worse. Wilted lettuce most of the time. I could not get the product on sale that I wanted and they refused to give me a raincheck. They asked me to come back the following day because they were going to restock it, supposedly. It did not happen. After the third time I went there, they gave me the raincheck, just because it was the last day of the sale. As another customer said, it's a shame that such rundown supermarket exists in this area. It should be a place with fresh produce and helpful staff. Unfortunately. It's the opposite.To the owner: you don't have to respond to my review. I already know your answer. You'll pass on my review to the management team....

The only place I am able to find watercress! Lots of Vitamins K. Much needed today in a healthy diet. Plus your customer service is amazing. And we get a discount for rewards. I'm definitely going to recommend your store. Whether you are local or you're just passing through stop on by and get the things you need. Thank you for the great experience

I’m so sad this is the closest grocery store to me house lol.. never have I consistently brought home produce in multiple shopping trips to have it be close to expiring or pretty much expired. As in, potatoes with sprouts that have gone green and onion and garlic that have sprouted as well. Everything is just bad from this store. With the prices we pay, it’s such a shame to spend it on food you can’t even eat without cutting off all the bad parts. For such a well to do area, it’s honestly unacceptable. I unfortunately will have to travel further to find a store that actually has produce that isn’t rotting. Who would have thought 🙄

Updated 01/30/23: purchased some little Chocolate covered cheesecake bites off the shelves in the bakery yesterday. Fortunately before eating, it occurred to me that I should check the packaging because it seemed a little weird that cheesecake didn't have to be refrigerated. Sure enough, packaging said keep refrigerated. I stopped in to return them today, explained what happened to the manager on duty, Kelly. I said I had already tossed the receipt, but here they are unopened and they are in my purchase history because I put my phone number in for rewards. She refused to refund me, saying my only option was to exchange it for another. I explained patiently that since they were all out on the shelf unrefrigerated, they too would be spoiled. She said I'd have to stop back in later to speak to another manager to get a refund. She was rude and imperious, and seemed to have no interest in the fact that there was other spoiled food on their shelves. I hope whoever gets food poisoning is more persistent than I am. I'm too busy to lug spoiled cheesecake around with me until I have another chance to stop back in here for a $5 refund.I used to shop here all the time, like once or twice a week. But lately, they just don't stock the shelves and I've started going elsewhere. They used to have really good Koala bites granola chunks, and really nice little lemon poppyseed scones. They've been out of stock for months. I've tried asking if I can place a special order, but they just say it's on order. Their freezer has been empty for a while. Stopped in today since I was walking by, just in case they had some items from my list. They didn't have scones, granola bites, or the nice frozen Spanakopita I used to buy weekly. It's been out of stock for weeks also. No longer worth my time to go over there. Plus, Target has much better bagged salad options

You never have any type of hand wipes or sanitizer at the door. I am a senior and now have the flu from shopping at this store!Get with the program and have some respect for your patrons! Hand wipes & sanitizer please!!

The female supervisor is in this Safeway is very rude with bad talking attitudes towards us.Me and my mother went in today just to use the western union service to send some living expenses to my sister who is so lucky to able to get into a really good college.But when i went into Safeway, this supervisor just being very rude to us. No face emotions and roll her eye on us.She don't listen to what we said, becuase i was the one sending the money and my mother is carrying the moneys, about three thousand dollar. Well i dont have a bag on me and why would i Carrying that much cash on me and i got no place to hide it. I don't wanna get rob on the way and lose my life.Just because she sees my mother carrying it, she was like No. "You cannot do that" "she has the moneys than she have to do it"I told her, it was my money and i wanted to use my ID.And i been using the western Union two years in this same place and this supervisor that i never seen was like "No"I told her the reason why she is carrying it. She just like Repeat the same word she said, but louder. Than we had enough and went to another Safeway. They helped us with the service with no problems and even very friendly, we even had a good laugh talking about the july 4 discount at the nearby Microcenter.Why this supervisor in this specific safeway got to be so special and just refused to understand us, I don't understand. I mean just because im not Carrying the money, that makes me no access to the service? What was that supposed be? Why even be that rude anyways?

This place is awful!! They always have expired/beyond "Best if Used By" date items on the shelves that they're still trying to sell; the self-check out is always a major hassle because it never gives you time to put the items in a bag before it stops scanning and you have to have a bagger reset the scanner; there are no places in the parking lot to return carts, and, the public bathrooms are abysmal!

A 3.24lb point cut corned beef brisket didn't give us even 1/2 lb of meat!!!! Can't feed my family with that. Disgusting smell, too. If I knew how to post the photo of proof, I would! I shop there all the time. Won't be buying this again.

This was my first time at the Fairfax area, so I decided to stop here to purchase some groceries. I spent over 20 dollars with the discounts, but that is due to inflation (some items are pricier than others).However, the customer service needs serious improvement. The cashier that rang me up did not acknowledge my presence. No thank you, no "Have a good/great/nice day", etc. Terrible first impression.

Though the employees are nice, the food is handled so poorly that everything has freezer burn. I have went to buy new chicken patties yesterday just to get ones that are even more freezer burnt.

An okay option if you can't make to another grocery store. The store is showing it's age, and it makes me feel like I need to wash my hands when I leave. Lighting is not good, aisles are narrow, and the meat department is unmanned and seems a bit sketch. Often a strange clientel of customers wondering around giving off an old run down vibe. I don't enjoy leaving poor reviews, but in this case, the management probably needs to hear that this store needs to be renovated.

Have been here 3 times recently and each time had experiences with at least 3 different employees - found all kind and helpful.A word of warning: my last visit I encountered 2 very young pretty women with European accents begging to feed their babies. I gave them info to contact the Lamb Center for help. They pretended interest until learning I give money there and not to individuals on the street. One then got angry and blew several "raspberries " at me.I went on to my car, took a few minutes to load groceries, and then saw the raspberry blower drive off in a huge shiney new suv.Word to the wise . . .

I frequent this grocery store often. They have everything you'd need and then some. Location is great too. The flats are right around the corner so if you live there you can just walk over. Restraunts on the way and near by.

Ran inside to use the restroom and grab a couple of things. Let me start by saying the restroom location is very strange and not conducive for employees and customers. The bathroom is upstairs through the employee lounge. Not down a hallway but actually inside where employees are on their lunch breaks, where their time clock is located, and employee documents are located. The bathroom itself is in horrible condition, see pics below. Also in the bathroom are employee lockers. The bathroom and employee lockers should be separate from the customers bathroom. Come on Safeway, you have to do better for your employees.The store has what you need and I was able to find what I was looking for. It’s neat and tidy.

First off I haven't been home, (I used to live in Fairfax & worked at this Safeway from March of 2000 to 2003 since then in 2013 I have moved to Thailand) since 2017. I remember Courthouse Plaza being built in the '70's. The bathrooms were eh, and yes even back in my old working days our lockers were in the bathrooms. I sure do miss Safeway. I have fond memories of the old place!

I have been coming to this Safeway for more than 4 years, and probably more than 5 times, I found expired items on shelves, such as fresh juice, snacks, cereals. For example, yesterday, I found an expired fresh juice in the refrigerator that expired on April 23, 2021. In each time, I informed them regarding this issue, but it seems there is no improvement and no appreciation for me as their regular customer. Maybe they don't like to hear that.

This place is poorly stocked and under staffed. If you need a very common item and time isn't an issue, then you're going to be ok, but don't bother looking for anything beyond very basic groceries, and expect to spend twice as long as you think. It's a little better since they put in self checkout, but even those are poorly calibrated, so the attendant is definitely going to have to come over and do an override to make sure you aren't stealing that pack of gum.

Never order anything from here. I put an order for the 17th of June for a tres leches cake 30 hrs in advance, intended for a birthday. They charged me, they sent me a text the day of confirming that my order was being worked on. Two hours before the supposed pick up, I called them to make sure we were on track. The manager (Shirley) if I remember well told me that I should have never taken the risk of ordering online and that the online orders are risky. Hahahah hahahaha, why would you advertise it if that was the case? Anyhow, trying to get a refund with my order number, phone number and name, guess what? They’re unable to find my +$25 order so no refund. Oh well, don’t ruin your bday parties because this people are unable to honor the online orders. Terrible management, customer service and experience overall.

The pharmacist is very good, super nice, and efficient despite being the only one at the pharmacy. She fills prescriptions, answers questions, and vaccinates all kinds (covid, flu, shingles, etc).Safeway needs to add more pharmacy staff before burning out good pharmacists.

Safeway tends to be overpriced for a market basket, but there sometimes are deals to be had. This particular store has the challenge of being past its best-if-used-by date (and I have found items on the shelves a few times with that problem also), and, because it is on the small side, they often run out of sale items. One Saturday morning, there was a lone cashier, with six people in line. I decided to try the self check-outs. Two were down. Then, the scanner on the one I was using did not work properly. The staff does the best it can with the rundown physical plant and is always pleasant.

This used to be my go-to grocery store but in the past few months, I have found so many expired items at this location that I have stopped shopping here. If you pick up an item, there is about 50% chance that it is expired. They sell expired meat (bacon, ground chicken, chicken legs, pork), veggies (carrots, celery), milk, old bay seasoning, yogurt, eggs, and the list goes on. So I do not recommend this location at all. If you really have to shop here, make sure to check the expiration date for every product you buy.

This store is really outdated. The layout is weird and the aesthetics are horrible. The employees are not friendly or helpful and that us if you can find any. The store is cluttered and dirty. A lot of stations look dirty where you can serve yourself fresh food. I will not be shopping here ever again. First impressions are lasting. The fact that the people don't look happy and the store looks dirty tells me there may be a risk on how the food is handled.

The place is in desperate need of an upgrade. I've used the self checkout in lots of different stores. This one is the worst. It was constantly complaining about something. The poor clerk had to unlock the system several times. The whole self checkout is terrible. They need to look at how their competitors are doing things, and update their place.
