Someone here keeps burning the cookies at the bakery. Every other Food Lion actually has really good cookies. Chewy and moist like homemade. Whoever is cooking here has the nerve to put these cookies out so dark brown they're nearly burnt and hard enough to break a tooth on. Somebody needs to go back to training on how to use an oven.

Clean store, good service but low on stock of many items including meats that are on sale. Almost weekly they do not have something I go there to buy.

Good clean store. Sometimes low stock of meats. The deli is ok have to watch out for some of the workers. You ask for your deli meat or cheese cut thin. They don't do it. Talk you into stuff already cut out in front. And tell you the meat is cut thin. I was not happy with the meat when I got home to make a sandwich. The person should of just cut me my meat and cheese I asked for. Poor service.

Thanksgiving week and one cashier on Monday night. Had to wait. Self check outs were being used by people who didn't have time to wait. Trying to force self check out is a waste and not fair to the one cashier.

Best Food Lion I have been in! I was driving from North Carolina to Delaware and needed to stop for a drink and a snack. The store is huge, great selection of items and every single employee greeted me. I am not used to that type of customer service. I was honestly blown away at how nice and professional everyone was. I will return when I drive back to North Carolina!

Food Lion will never be Wegmans. But this one is so much better than the three in Roanoke Rapids that I drive right past from farther south in Halifax County to come here. It’s cleaner, bigger, more likely not to be out of sale items, and has a better selection of my more obscure favorites. For example, I prefer chopped canned asparagus to spears. In the past six months, it’s been sparse and usually unavailable at two of the RR stores. The shelf was fully stocked here. Those little things make a difference, and this Food Lion does a much better job with that attention to detail. Thanks!

On a discounted food item was charged for the original price and the discounted price. Went to get money back and the lady in charge of the service desk tried to blame the cashier. Which was wrong because I watched her ring it up one time. She said she rang it up twice no she did not the discounted sticker was below the original sticker that's why it rang up twice. The lady running the service desk wasn't very amicable

I love the selection at Food Lion. I am from Pennsylvania and I live in Virginia, but FL still offers many of the same items I was used to buying in PA, such as Fruit on the Bottom, Dannon yogurt. That other store (WM) rarely has any selection at all. Even when availability of certain products are limited, I can still count on FL to offer a varied selection. Thank you, Food Lion!

This is truly not a good food lion location. But! Allow me to clarify! The problem is not the store or its employees, but rather the customers. I don't know why, but they're rude! They bust in front of you, hit you with their carts etc. I went a few times and it happened every time. I go to food lion in Lawrenceville and this doesn't happen. I go to the one in Littleton NC and it doesn't happen there either. The store is clean. The employees are nice and helpful. But the customers need a course in manners and how to interact socially.

Came to the Food Lion at 930 pm today had a full shopping cart after shopping for an hour then was looking for a cashier manager said it's self checkout only it took me 20 minutes to ring up my groceries after shopping for an hour. What a JOKE! Usually I pay by check thank God I had my card on me warning to ppl like me I have a double fusion in my neck noone helped me AI will be taking all cashier jobs... Do not shop at food lion warning.........it sucks!

I drive 20 miles out of my way to avoid the Emporia Food Lion. Shelves are constantly in need of restocking and I cant find items that should be there. Lines are always long with too few registers open and it just seems cluttered and disorganized and not as clean as most Food Lions. One night as I was checking out, a manager came out of the office and began berating the teenage boy checking me out because someone had just walked out without paying for some steaks. I don't understand how a teenage boy is supposed to have eyes in the back of his head and also doubt "security staff" is in his job description as a cashier. Lastly and what irks me the most is I'm a big fan of their in store made Tortilla Chips and this store clearly doesn't know how to fry them. They are soaked in grease and don't crunch right, like they're stale. Which if you know how to deep fry anything, you know that means the oil is too cold and instead of instantly frying them, the tortillas are instead soaking up the oil when they are dropped in the fryer. Such an easy fix and after 4 bags purchased at different times all having the same issue, its clear either their fryer temp is faulty or they are just too lazy or impatient to wait for it to heat up. Avoid this Food Lion if at all possible, it will be worth going out of your way. Also very impatiently waiting for instacart to be available here. We just moved here a few months ago from NC and I used instacart at Food Lion all the time, it's so easy and convenient and I was extremely disappointed that it is not offered here.

The place is clean, all food items and other products are neatly packed on on the shelves. Anything you need it’s there, if you can’t find it, you can ask someone, and they are polite and helpful. They show you or help you find it. The cashiers are very friendly as well. What are great place to shop for your fresh meats etc.

I've been going to this Food Lion for 2 years now. I absolutely love going in here, everybody is so friendly so polite so respectful and they all seemed to go above and beyond to help you find items. Cashiers are always quick and helpful to put your bags in your cart. The manager is always very polite as well. Ever since they remodeled they have such a larger selection and more options in organic. It is very clean and easy to find everything and isles are much wider and produce section is much larger which is very nice . You guys did an excellent job remodeling and the staff has been absolutely wonderful. Thanks again.

I really like this new layout. The fact that no lanes are dedicated to 12 items/less makes it great and helps keep the lines moving. Plus with customer service moving off to the side freed up the center of the front end and added a few more lanes. Plus the produce section really seems more organized and added more lights to make shopping easier/faster.

Very clean. The produce is always plentiful and very bright. Their meat selection is comparable to what you would expect to find in a grocery store, but they seem to have much more and the meat looks fresher than most other stores. The employees are super nice and very helpful. Really enjoy shopping here!!

Food Lion in Emporia is great! I do have a concern. The Deli has inconsistent times. My husband and I went in there Monday at 4:55. I needed to get some sliced ham. The deli person told us she was finished slicing meat for the day. There were 2 employees behind deli counter. No customers at that time. The store was filled with customers!My question is, How am I suppose to get sliced meat???! The deli person told us there was sliced meat in the refrigerator part at deli. I didn’t want packaged deli meat. Most of the time is sliced a little too thick.I could not find the manager at that time.Disappointed local customer!

I had a rude cashier who checked out my items. He was a young man who treated me as if I almost didn't matter. I don't intend to ever get in his lane for checkout. Usually this type of treatment normally doesn't happen to me at the store.

Amazing staff, new construction is making the store look amazing which now matches their staff, even with the construction taking place there is no discernible difference in the efficiency and service the staff provides and\or in the organizational cleanliness of the store in whole. But as I stated at the start of this review this Food Lion runs like a well oiled machine, each visit brings with it something fresh and new thanks to the ongoing remodeling projects, and when something as mundane and repetitive as food shopping can be enjoyable in small part due to the store itself; but fully facilitated by their warm and genuinely kind staff. I have to say that Food Lion knocked this one out of the park. Thank you to all of the employees who man the customer service desk, not an easy job by any means, but each and every one of you handle your duties with grace and professionalism.

Located in a large parking lot in the Emporia area of Virginia. The store is very clean and organized well for shopping convenience. I purchased fresh fried chicken wings and chicken strips. Moist and delicious! I will visit this place again soon.

One of the nicest, cleanest Food Lions I've been to. Can't speak for the service, the cashier was too busy talking to her friend who was visiting to really care much. But all in all, great grocery store!

I hate that their prices are always higher than walmart. 2 stars cause their 2 liter sodas are on sale sometimes. Walmart stopped weekly sales when they got rid of their savings catcher plan. Also their stromboli labeled as pepperoni and cheese was full of onions and peppers. So their deli people need to fix that. I'm onion allergic.

They need to repair their Western Union machine. It maybe operational if you go there - AND it may not be. DEPENDING UPON YOUR PERSONAL SITUATION, THAT CAN BE QUITE DISAPPOINTING. Pretty good selection of items although not quite as diverse as the Lawrenceville Food Lion it seems.(product selection for Lawrenceville Food Lion is excellent, particularly for such a small rural town) Pretty good people that work there at this Emporia store, tho. Krissy is particularly pleasant.
