This hotel is located right off I-81 and makes for an nice over-night stay. The staff was friendly, and the room was clean and nicely appointed. It is a smaller hotel, I think built to serve the highway and the nearby park lands. We were told that a new management had taken over and it was making improvements. It is a 2 star hotel with what you expect in such a place. The bed was okay, but with the small sacks of loose fluff that hotels try to pass off as pillows.The tv was small and somewhat lacking. There was an odd ad that kept appearing on the left side of the screen that we couldn't dismiss.There was only a simple and basic Continental breakfast. But, we were there for 12 hours? And, we would stay again.

I used to stay at this hotel when it was Choice Hotels and at that time it was awesome. Now it's subpar. The room was hot, the air conditioner came on but didn't cool the room. The sheet spread was stained, the cable didn't work on the TV, the bathroom had pee stains on the floor around the toilet. When I asked to switch rooms, they gave me one with tobacco odors, I don't smoke. Awful 😞

BED BUGS! BED BUGS! BED BUGS! The only positive thing I can say is the ability to get to the hotel as it is located right on top of the Interstate and now I know why the rooms are only $40-$45 a night. Paper thin molded walls so we could hear traffic all night. Very very dirty rooms, hallways had carpet stains everywhere. I can tolerate many things, but the room had bed bugs and there was black mold everywhere. Highly recommend you go find a better hotel, we passed a Holiday Inn and a Hampton nearby but for this Wingate Hotel they need condemned. No wonder many guests were coughing during our stay. If we wasn’t so tired we would have just packed up and left immediately, luckily we didn’t get bitten by the bed bugs, we saw them crawling on the bed when we woke up. Stay away!

If they had "minus stars," I would have selected -4. This place is not as advertised. Nasty. I guess it used to be a "smoking" hotel and they are doing renovations, but I don't see no renovations being done. Smells like cigarette smoke and has a nasty funk to it. TOTALLY NOT WHAT THE PHOTOS ADVERTISED.I asked to speak to the manager and the manager made it right, in some aspects. She explained they were renovating, but it wouldn't start until after November. She offered to change my room to a room that was previously NOT a smoking room. That room was a little bit better. I ended up sleeping fully clothed and not in the sheets. All other hotels were fully booked and I wasn’t about to sleep on my motorcycle.I understand that it's not the employees fault. Customer service was amazing. But there is only so much they can do, with what they have to work with.I'll be contacting upper management, to get some type of a refund. Those rooms are not worth 140.00! They knew that people had no other choice, being that all other hotels were already booked. I would wait until after November, if you want to stay there. Depending on how Windgate handles this really bad issue, will tell me if I continue staying at Windgate hotelsGood luckRooms: I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Horrendous! And not to mention, the smell/funk. This ranks up there as a “crack” motel!Safety: Smoke detectors were disabled and batteries removed. Unsatisfactory!Noteworthy details: Some of the employees were amazing. Manager was not so “customer friendly.” She would hide behind the wall, while letting her front desk know what to say. I could literally hear the manager tell the front desk what to tell me.

We booked this hotel for our baseball team. When we arrived the rooms were not ready, we had to sit outside until 630 pm with our whole team, and when we got to our room it was dirty, the linens were stained, the windows had mold on them, it smelled of cigarettes and marijuana. Linda and Erin at the front desk told us that Wyndham came in last week and took them over like Ukraine. They told us we had to cancel by 4 pm that day per policy but we pointed out we didn’t even have a room until 630 and they told us that was not their fault bc there was a glitch in their system. The military was there as a contract with the military and they were complaining about the quality. Another gentleman came down and showed their sheets in their room that were stained brown and looked like they hadn’t been changed in a while. Do not stay here !!!! They also would not refund our money but would refund others.

On Saturday August 19th 2023 we still at this property. I checked in approx 8pm. Linda (Employee) was at the front desk very pleasant and helpful. We stayed in room 110 the room was with mold in the bathroom, water leaking from the vent. There was no battery in the room over the hot tube. The smell of the room was horrible until I had to disinfected the room. I would like to have the property manager to call me asap refund money or credit voucher.ThanksEJones

DO NOT STAY at this hotel. I got a bad feeling when we drove up, the Sleep Inn had been covered over with a black cloth and there was a couple hanging out at the picnic table with a hotel cart full of bins and clothes. We walked into a lobby with filthy furniture, ripped carpet, and STRONG chlorine smell from the pool. We had to wait a few minutes to get checked. As soon as we got in the room (#105), there was a STRONG mold/mildew odor. We were on the way to a football game so I hurried to get my clothes ready and shower. Once in the shower, I looked up and the wall above the shower stall and over the door was covered in black mold. My husband called the front desk and was told they would get housekeeping in to clean and there were no available rooms to switch to. We decided we couldn't sleep in the room so we checked out. The hotel is so bad, I am considering call the health department. The hotel shouldn't be open until it's completely renovated. Whomever owns the hotel is asking people to risk their health to stay there. The ONLY postive, was the friendly front desk clerk, Linda.

The ladies at the front desk were very nice. I would have given 4 stars but our room was not vacuumed upon check in....it was 11pm, we didnt care, the beds were fresh. The batbrooms were "wiped down" but looked like they could use a deep cleaning. The breakfast was pretty good too.Apparently this used to be Sleep Inn and was recently acquired by Wyndham, so upgrades are on the horizonAlso, we decided not to use the pool due to the floating bandaid

If I could give zero stars I would! Be prepared for bugs everywhere! Mold, dirty bed sheets, and the string smell of cigarettes and animal urine. Staff could care less. They will smile and refuse a refund.Rooms: Smell like a dog took a piss and s oked a packed of cigarettes in your room before you arrives.

I wish I'd read the reviews before staying here.Pros: Great view from the room. I asked for a view of the open field, and they honored it.The staff were very friendly when I checked in. Also, not too crowded, which made it nice. Just a handful of cars in the parking lot.Cons: The rooms of the hotel had a very musty smell. I asked for a different room, and the lady at the front desk was very kind, allowing me to move rooms. Unfortunately, the musty smell was in the new room, as well. There is mold and mildew here, and it would be unhealthy to stay here for an extended period of time. I began sneezing on the second day and getting a headache and sore throat, but don’t have allergies.The carpets throughout the hotel are incredibly dirty. The TV options seemed to be one channel that was analog, and it had lines running through the picture.You might be tempted to stay here because of the low pricing but it's not worth it, even at the cheap rates, owing to the overpowering smell of must and mildew. It made it hard to relax enough to sleep or focus on work, which was largely why I booked a room here. The owner needs to do something about the awful smell in the rooms, and have a company come in and remove the mold and mildew.The smell is a dead giveaway that there’s mold here. As mold and mildew colonies grow, they release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as part of their metabolic processes. These VOCs are responsible for the characteristic musty and unpleasant odor associated with mold and mildew.Just gross.* Update: After checking out the 2nd day when I was planning to stay 4, the hotel charged my card more than they were supposed to. I should have only been charged for one night, but they charged me for 2.5. I shouldn't have been charged at all, honestly. They shouldn't even be allowed to rent rooms until they take care of the mold problem. This hotel WILL make you sick if you stay here. I am still coughing after staying only one night.
