BEST VET OFFICE IN THIS AREA. Strongly suggest taking your fur kids to this place. Ask for Katie Rohrig, DVM. 3 years ago after my pup Zeus was labeled aggressive by another vet office, Katie took time to get to know my pup and played ball and befriended him and made it a fun time to come to the vet instead of scary. NO VET, has ever done this. My dog is not aggressive, never has been just doesn’t like his nails clipped.. Katie worked her magic and now it’s no longer stressful for him or me.. she the best !!! Hands 🙌 down !! She will be my vet as long as she practices. Clean facility and friendly staff always willing to help. Their care and compassion is top notch, Nothing less than the full 5 stars. Completely satisfied client.

HUGE shout out to Danville Family Vet!! I took my pups to get their updated shots and I am so pleased with the experience! I've been to two different local vets over the years - one facility for many, many visits and neither compare to the compassion and care shown today at Danville Family Vet.One of my dogs has developed severe anxiety with vet visits and has had to be sedated and muzzled in the past due to his "aggressiveness". Dr. Reid and Kady at Danville Family Vet took so much time and care into making sure he felt comfortable and to build trust with him. Needless to say, my dog successfully had a vet visit without the use of a muzzle or sedatives, all because these ladies took extra time and care with them. This is a HUGE deal for us since vet trips have been pretty traumatizing for him (and me if I'm being honest, I hate to see my pup so scared). If you're looking for a vet that truly cares about your animal and takes the time to make sure they are as comfortable as possible, Danville Family Vet is hands down the best!

All the staff was super friendly and was nice to my super nervous husky. I was able to get my dog seen same day for her check up to get a quote on what needed to be done. They also offer the Care Credit Card for big purchases that's great for anything you want to finance (Synchrony Bank). Unfortunately the price was a bit steep for me I've been told that this place is owned by the same owners as 2 or 3 other vets in town and have been told they are super expensive I will be getting a quote from another vet to compare prices since I'm new to town and I don't listen to other people until I know the facts. Will update this hopefully in about a week or so.

Very knowledgeable and great priced. They worked with my dog who is not all that friendly with strangers and managed to not have to muzzle him for the first time ever at the vet!

If you are seeking quality care for your "exotic pet" I would recommend Companion Animal Hospital in Blacksburg. DO NOT TAKE YOUR EXOTIC PET, ESCPECIALLY YOUR REPTILES TO DR. COOPER BAILEY. I hold her responsible for the death of our beloved bearded dragon Harry Draco. He was a patient of hers for around 2 years, although she'd only seen him 2 times. Text messaging is her preferred way of communication, and getting her to respond is a task within itself. I only sought out her help because I wanted an opinion about a possible leg amputation for Harry which Bailey said she could do. Our young bearded dragon was healing from a fight with yellow fungus but in the process lost function of his left rear leg. We had already been prescribed his life saving medicine (voriconazole) from another veterinarian. Although he lost his left rear leg he made a full recovery, and almost as mobile as before. During the 2 visits we had with her she did nothing but talk about lighting, or try to order very expensive blood panels.....thankfully she did refill the voriconazole.More recently the yellow fungus made its return. I'd seen this before, but this time the fungus was at a much earlier stage. I was confident Harry could make a full recovery as long as we used the same methods of care as before (most of which we learned from our own research)I hold Cooper Bailey responsible because of delayed responses to texts and her refusal to refill my dragons lifesaving medicine. During this time we were in the midst of a pandemic, and I was the primary caregiver for my Mother who had terminal cancer. I had an appointment scheduled at the Danville Family Vet to see Bailey. She adamantly requested to see my dragon before she'd authorize a refill of the same medicine that saved him already. When I called early morning to reschedule, I was put on hold. The technician came back and said I had to pay the office visit upfront before I could reschedule. I declined and decided to try my local vet.She agreed, but first wanted Harry Draco's medical records. Dr. Cooper Bailey never did provide those. To say I was stressed at this point was an understatement! Well over a month had gone by since I first requested that refill. All the while Harry's yellow fungus quickly progressed. Finally after bombarding Bailey with texts and pleading with her, she agreed to approve the medication. Two more weeks went by as I waited for the voriconazole to arrive by mail, and when it did we were relived. After all he did make a full recovery from first battle with yellow fungus, albeit losing his back left leg. Harry was taking the voriconazole for 2 months and improving, but as the yellow fungus retreated I noticed a small area of what I thought was yellow fungus on his front left leg that wouldn't come off during his daily baths. It turned out to be necrosis (basically dead tissue that won't come back) It finally hit me, based on his attitude and constant sleeping, that HE knew what was going to happen, and it was happening where he could witness the whole thing, unlike the first leg. It was only a matter of time that he would lose his leg. Now I was forced to contemplate a very difficult decision. Did I want him to suffer through this, only being left with 2 right legs. And him watching, with his left eye, as this awful process of losing a limb happens? (for a bearded dragon losing a limb can take many months). I know if Dr. Cooper Bailey would have shoved her "know it all" Ego to the side and authorized the prescription of voriconazole in a timely manner, that Harry would still be here today. In a world where the last few years have been filled with so many dark clouds, Harry Draco was a Bright Light and an inspirational story of how 'Never Giving Up' and staying positive through the course can sometimes lift a person up...or in our case, heal a Bearded Dragon that lifts a family up and gives them more precious moments together with something we loved.RIP Harry Draco

Dr. Smith came in on Sunday to put down my sister's dog that he had cared for for over 18 years. Was so kind and gentle with the dog. He helped bring her in to this world and he helped her leave. He made a hard situation easier. Thank you Dr. Smith for taking care of Rocky Sr. yesterday.

Not happy with this vet, they are to expensive to begin with and tried to schedule my cat for a unnecessary 1350.00 hernia surgery after a 350.00 spay surgery that they did. I got a second opinion from another vet, (thank God) and my cat didn't need anything. She was just swollen from inflammation post surgery and that went away in a couple days with no meds. needed. I'm very disappointed with this place and won't go back.

I've had to put 2 dogs to sleep with Dr. Smith and both times you can tell he truly cares and does everything he can to make the experience somewhat bareable. He also saved the first one for a couple years by getting rid of all the cancer cells present. Even then, he was given 6 months or less to live, and he was happy and healthy for 2 whole years before the cancer came back. And with the recent dog, who is in the pics, we found the cancer too late and he went fast. But Dr. Smith and his staff were all so caring and compassionate and I don't I could have gotten thru it without their care and support. If I ever do get another dog, he'll definitely always go to this vet.

My small dog suddenly got very sick and ultimately we had to have her put down. The staff was very helpful during this sad time in our lives. Our Bella was our baby and it was so nice to have a staff that showed compassion for our heartbreak. Rest in peace sweet Bella.

They not only took care of our Rat Terrier but we also received a beautiful sympathy card for our loss of our Corgi, 5/5/20.This is a caring veterinary with the knowledge of cost for us. We traveled 45 miles to find a good vet and we found them, from the receptionist, to the nurse, to the doctor. They treat our dogs like they are our kids. Many thanks. Ben & Doris Stacy, Roxboro, NC

I recently moved here with my senior dog, whom I sadly recently had to say goodbye to. Though the vet and staff did not know us well, they were nothing but attentive, caring, and knowledgeable at our few visits. Dr. Rohrig so naturally intuited his temperament and handled him with such grace. When it was time to say goodbye, I could feel the love and compassion being extended to us by everyone we encountered. They even sent a card afterwards full of touching personal messages. These are genuine, kind-hearted people who are quite clearly called to the amazing work that they do. I'd trust my sweet boy to them any day. The clinic is also quite clean and aesthetically beautiful, which is a nice plus.

Our beloved pug had a very complicated bleeding condition. Jeff Smith was thorough in diagnosing and treating her, answering all of our questions, and providing excellent care.

I took my puppy here for his first checkup and it was a great experience! The clinic was very clean and all of the staff members were friendly and helpful. They gave my puppy a thorough exam and provided me with a lot of information on how to care for him. I even received a new puppy kit that was full of goodies and a book about new puppy care. I highly recommend Danville Family Vet!!!

Will provide details later. We're busy at another veterinary hospital for cat and dog medicine meeting and exceeding our pets' needs. Seeking individualized patient care for surgery, cancer/palliative care, vaccines, behavior (dementia), cardiac disease, GI disease, and pain management elsewhere. Our Family Vet Needs of Our Pets are outside the scope, understanding, and standards of this family vet hospital's SOPs and protocols. Experiencing better listening, overall communication, planning, handling, and medicine right now, not at family vet, not with this facility. No tailored treatment plan per individual patient for wellness and vaccines. AAFP and AAHA guidelines for vaccination are ridiculed and dismissed by this hospital. Excessive vaccine protocol at DFV without consideration of risk exposure and lifestyle. All dogs do not need canine influenza vaccines or lepto or Lyme vaccines. All cats don't need FeLV vaccines. If a pet is sick or undergoing anesthesia, it's not good medical practice to vaccinate. No labwork reviewed after blood chemistry, CBC, UA, T4. Previous pathology, radiograph, cardio, surgical and ultrasound reports not reviewed. Yet, treatments that would need careful consideration and monitoring were recommended after exam of each pet that only identified low grade dental disease. No heart murmurs, previously diagnosed and worked up by cardiology. No arthritis. No cancer. No Neuro deficits. Lot of misses on their exams alone.Surgical recommendations not in the best interest of the patient. Poor orthopedic surgical consult for arthritis in the face of knee surgery (trochleoplasty and tibial crest transposition with medial imbrication) during which family vet certain they could do what the board certified surgeon could not. There is hubris. One can do a few things very well and accel. One cannot be an expert business owner, GP, internist, soft tissue and orthopedic surgeon, behaviorist, dentist, pathologist, cardiologist, endocrinologist, urologist, oncologist and radiologist. It's impossible, and foolhardy to think so.Yet, surgical estimate here higher than the board certified surgeon's estimate. Padded with rechecking bloodwork done 4 wks prior, all normal, and padded on 5 vaccines, as no 3 year protocol or exposure risk considered here. Annual revaccination for DAPP, FVRCP, and FeLV extended to 3yr in 2000 by AAHA standards if medicine. They really value their own ego and bank account here. Way to price oneself out of the market. This is Danville, low cost standard of living, not NYC.Cat friendly certified, yet, no Feliway in rooms, only auscultated chest upon request with inaccurate clear heart and lung sounds reported. No ROM of his arthritic limbs to gauge progression of joint disease. No palpating spine to monitor spondylosis. No abdominal palpation to check abdominal organs' size and symmetry.Titers promoted by AVMA, CVMA and AAHA, many previous own pets' DVMs, primary general practice and specialists totaling over 200 years combined experience, discouraged here.Current and previous treatment plans of other doctors judgmentally scoffed at by this vet who lacks knowledge or humility to the point it's self-detrimental to career and definitely detrimental to patient care.Record keeping and communication are disorganized, inefficient, inaccurate, and unreliable.I wasted exam time and money, but learned how I don't want my pets examined or treated. I learned my previous vets are sensational and top of their field, confirmed by this practice's stark difference. I will drive 1.5 hours back to them every time we need to tweak care, redo diagnostics, plan surgery or dentals, PT, get vaccines or titers, or fill veterinary specific medications. If you don't want your pets over-vaccinated and under-examined, don't go here. I'll think about trying another Danville vet. This one had such pretty packaging. Deceptively not the best medicine for your dollar. For now, we drive to infinity and receive excellent care about which I don't have to worry or get frustrated.

My family sadly had to put down our family member, a 9 year old beagle mix. The techs and the vet were so compassionate, patient, and polite that we knew we went through the right people to help us say goodbye. Not only were they professionals, but they were warm and so kind. When my family is ready, we will add to our family again, and THIS is the place we will be taking our new family member.

I was looking for a vet and after reviewing their website, that I was impressed with, I decided to take my Gizmo to Danville Family Vet. Super friendly staff, I was explained recommendations for our first visit and was given up front pricing for this visit, as well as a future visit that was discussed. They helped me with getting my chip registered and were so helpful about giving information and answering questions. You will not be disappointed with the service and the staff, ask for Amy, she's awesome.

My daughter was visiting from the DC area and we had planned a small family trip and needed somewhere trustworthy to board my grand-pup. My daughter is very picky regarding where (Frank), their French bulldog spend time while they are away. She seemed to be pleased with the service she received and I must say I was somewhat impressed as-well. So yes I would recommend this place.

I'm not in a position to spend money unnecessarily. There are less expensive vets in the area with good reputations, and my experiences with all of them have been decidedly good--I walk dogs as well as have cats and dogs at home, and have dealt with several local vets connected with clients--but this one... it's more expensive. Definitely. But it's also THE vet that goes the extra mile. I know in my heart that the employees truly care about what they do, and genuinely adore my fuzz children. They pay attention to details, they have separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs, and invest in soothing pheromones for each species: tried em yourself? They work nicely. They're a qualified and registered Fear Free clinic. They do exotics like reptiles, amphibians, rodents, sugar gliders etc. They're worth spending extra, and even with a limited budget I do. Super clean, staff is incredible all around, and the reception staff bring their pets to work with them, which is delightful. I recommend them enthusiastically, your babies are worth a little bit more.

Best veterinary services in Danville! I took my two cats there for the first time and was treated like family. All staff was super friendly and went above and beyond to make me and my fur babies feel welcomed! Dr. Smith was nice and helpful, as well as vet assistant Kelsey. Kasey got me all checked in and made sure we were taken care of. She even helped me carry my kitties back to my car safely. I left very pleased, and would recommend Danville Family Vet to every pet owner I know!

My husband and I love Family Vet for our two babies, Gracie and Ellie. They take such good care of our babies when we take them. All the doctors are very knowledgeable and they treat you as family which I love. We went on a trip recently and left our two babies with them to board. Gracie has never done well staying with anyone before but both her and Ellie did so well and I didn’t have scared puppies when I picked them up. They loved on everyone before they left. They will also send pick of your babies while you are gone so you feel more at ease. We will definitely be taking our babies back for all their needs.

Hi I brought my sons rabbit in to see the exotic vet at Danville Family Vet. His rabbit was feeling bad and this is the only exotic vet I could find available. Now I know why she was available. I can’t imagine anyone would go back here after the experience we had. In August of this year we had our pet rabbit Red see Kerri Cooper Bailey. I would NEVER recommend her to anyone! Our rabbit had starting feeling bad that morning and we wanted to take him in to be evaluated. After the exotic vet looked at him we were told he was probably not going to make it. She told us she could try a $1200 procedure to get the air out of his stomach but it was only a 20% success rate and it could possibly kill him. We were not taking that chance. She then said we could have him operated on in Raleigh that night for $4000. I then told her let me go outside and speak to my husband about it and her response was if your not going to have this surgery done right this minute then I need to put him down before you leave. All along telling me this in front of my son who is upset and crying! The way she went about this was very unprofessional. She has no empathy to say all this in front of a child. As dramatic as she was she should have went to school for drama and should go back to school and learn some manners! I finally decided I’m going to pay the bill which after x-rays was $374 and get a second opinion. I knew I had to do something to make him feel more relaxed so I started googling. I came across an online vet that recommended infant gas drops and belly massage. We took our rabbit home, made him comfortable, gave him gas drops and a massage and took turns watching him all night. About 6:00 the next morning our rabbit was running all over the bedroom, eating and pooping. This was almost three months ago and he has never felt better! My husband has reached out and called the owner several times and every time he has been told he would get a return call. Almost three months later and nothing! I would like to make it clear I am only complaining about Kerri Cooper Bailey the exotic vet. I have had no experience with the regular vets at this location. I have read some reviews so please do not tell me you can’t find where we came in! The rabbit is Red, we were seen in August. Feel free to comment back and I would be glad to speak with someone there. We have been waiting on a return call.

Mt. Hermon Animal Clinic has always taken good care of my dogs. They were a saving grace after a traumatic event and were there for us. Great service, good prices and fantastic staff.I never feel guilty leaving my pup with the day camp staff. They love my dog like she was their own.

We had never owned a puppy before, so we were very particular about who we wanted to care for our new addition to our family. We had several friends that use this office for there pets and had great things to say about there staff and the care they show for your pet. Let me say they were no disappointment! The staff was caring and informative about things we needed to know and quick to answer any question or concern we had. They showed ample amounts of care for our pet as if they were there own! THIS PLACE IS GREAT!!!! I will always from here on out be bringing my pets here.

I would like to say thank you to Dr. Smith and his wonderful staff for making my Lily better. My Lily is walking without a surgery that would have been very expensive as well as invasive. I would recommend this veterinarian above all the rest. Just little back story, my Min Pin had been going to a vet in the city for 6 years and recommended surgery for a torn ligament in her knee. Dr. Smith looked at her x-rays and determined that with the right amount of rest and restriction she would heal without surgery. He was right. I would urge anyone who needs a precise diagnosis and get the correct information for what's best for their fur baby to visit Danville Family Vet.
