So much fun! It was a great experience. Gradual descent with some flat parts. Not strenuous at all. We did the 17 mile portion from White-Top to Damascus. Beautiful scenery. Will be talking about this trail for a while.

This was an absolute magic trip. So easy to get to the top with the shuttle. The first 16 miles from White Top station are downhill, then flat into Demascus. We had a great lunch and finished the slow climb to Abingdon. We will definitely do this again. It's just perfect.

Best trail to bike for everyone to have a good day! Saw people of all ages out on the trail. If you’re looking for an easy ride where you can easily coast the whole time this is it. There are beautiful bridges along the whole trail and you are surrounded by stunning scenery the whole ride. There are also places along the trail to stop and take a break or grab something to eat.

It is an amazing trail, but in some parts, it is not well maintained and very bumpy.

Our favorite bike trail anywhere! We bike the 17 miles from White Top Mountain to the town of Damascus. This segment is almost all downhill with some flat areas. The biking is easy and the country is beautiful.

I ran while my husband biked with our kids from Whitetop to Damascus. I knew people loved to bike on this trail but I really was surprised to see that I was literally the only person on foot. It's a beautiful trail with lots of places to pull over and jump in the water, a couple of cafés along it, and Appalachian trail crossings. Also loved that there was a bathroom at the parking in whitetop as well as bathrooms occasionally along the trail!! And the route starting at Whitetop and ending in Damascus is 17 miles completely downhill (truly like 1500 ft elevation loss with only 24 ft elevation gain). I'd like to come back on a weekend that's less busy (we came over labor day weekend) because I really did love the trail but it gets congested with narrow paths every now and then and with a lot of visitors who don't call out "on your left" when passing. Also, there is no service for most of the trial so plan accordingly if you split up with your group.

Had the most lovely experience on the Virginia Creeper Trail riding our bikes. Will definitely make this a yearly event each fall and bring family along next time!

Awesome 17 mile downhill bike trail. We rented bikes in Damascus and they took us to the top of the mountain to enjoy a relaxing bike ride through the mountain side along rivers and over bridges. Very enjoyable experience. Stopped at a restaurant mid ways for a break and then end the ride in downtown Damascus. Appalachian festival was going on and people were everywhere. Enjoyed the bike ride. Fun for groups and families.

This was my second time on the Creeper from Whitetop Station to Damascus on a bike. An easy and well-maintained trail for any age or skill level. If you race down, that leg will take about 2 hours. Plan on 3 to 4 hours including just stopping to watch all of the scenery including creeks and plants from spring through autumn. There are 3-4 restrooms down plus several places of interest (Green Cove had live molasses making yesterday), and a couple of off trail food options.Highly recommend! Several outfitters in Damascus will rent a bike and drive groups to Whitetop Station.

Everyone in my group would classify as a beginning biker and we had the best time on the first half of this trail. We were transported to the top of the trail and coasted our way down throughout the day. There are so many scenic spots to stop at to enjoy the views, take a break, and relax. This is not a challenging trail at all. I saw people of all ages out and about biking down the mountain. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Beautiful scenery, covered in many a type of flora and fauna. I love walking here, I once walked from Damascus 23 miles, turned around, and walked the other 23 miles to Damascus because I was so lost in the fantastical sounds, sights and smells of possibly the best trail in all of Virginia.Great spot to get away from everything, watch out for the occasional black snake though!Playground: No playgrounds unless you go through Damascus, but it's a great place to let your kids run around and discover nature, and there's benches where you can sit and read and recuperate.Restrooms: Two public restrooms near almost every entrance and exit of the creeper trail.Dog-friendliness: Dogs as pets, working dogs, and service dogs alike are seen running joyfully along with their masters, all of which are leashed for the sake of other people and other dogs. There are wildlife (and lots of squirrels) so keep a tight hold on your furbaby!Picnic area: Again, none as far as I know unless you go to Damascus, lots of shady wooden picnic tables right at the entrance next to the park, there's lights on the bridge that are mesmerizing at night.

Just beautiful!! Almost entirely coasting downhill, truly - unless you're a crazy person and want to ride 17 miles *up* hill. Lots of places to stop and take in the scenery, looking forward to doing it again!!!

What a ride!! The scenery was breathtaking with so many bridges and waterfalls. It was so clean and well kept. I had that on my bucket list and was happy to be able to check it off. Great experience

Wow! What a fun time! My mother 71, myself and my two kids 12 & 8 all loved our ride. It took us 3 hours and 15 minutes, which included a stop for lunch. We loved the beautiful views. At times people were flying by on their bikes, which was kinda scary. There were lots of places to stop and relax or take a beautiful picture. We saw several deer. The bridges were very cool. We were definitely tired after our ride, but would definitely do it again!

Biking this trail was one of the highlights of our trip! We went the middle of October and the leaves were just starting to change. Perfect for families! Even with younger children. It’s about 17 miles from where we started back down to Damascus. The stops along the way were a great break for the kids and also had some awesome history. I was in awe of the beauty the entire time.

I’m in love with this trail. This is my second time this year. First time was in the summer, it was so gorgeous and cool, it wasn’t very hot up in the mountain and riding down. We just came back from our trip to TN a week ago, while we were there we took a day trip to VA took us about 2 hours to get there and it was our favorite time so far, seeing all the autumn colors was so majestic, definitely a must to do. We took bike shuttles up the mountain and rode the 18 miles downhill. You won’t regret doing this trail. Enjoy! :)

Great trail for hiking, backpacking, and bicycle rides. There are plenty of remote campsites. Easy access to businesses in Damascus.

This was one of the highlights of our mountain vacation. The weather was on the cool side as started our bike ride at the top of the trail which made for perfect riding. Most of us only rode the first half and it was a beautiful and easy ride. Plenty of places to stop and take in the water falls, bridges, old country store. I would suggest parking in Damascus and paying someone to drop you at the top so you can take your time on the trail. We were slightly pressed for time since we parked in Abingdon and had to meet up at a specified time for our ride back there. However you do it you won't regret it! A very easy ride for anyone who can pedal a bicycle!

This is absolutely a “must do”. What an easy but oh so scenic ride. So cool and stunning. This is one of the most memorable things we’ve done. Enjoyed our entire stay in Abingdon, at the Martha , Damascus is adorable. The scenery is incredible. Thank you , thank you , thank you VA

My first time on the Creeper. Around each corner was more beauty and spectacular nature. The trail was an easy ride, if a little bumpy in places, but that's to be expected after a rainy week. The trailside bathrooms are very clean and neat. Went by too fast!

What a great way to spend a beautiful Saturday coasting downSenate the Creeper. The folks at bicycle junction are great. Rented bikes and free helmet. They take you up the mountain 17 miles and then you just coast home thru some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.

We biked from Damascus to Abington where we stopped by the White Birch for lunch. Highly recommended to visit. The food and staff was awesome. The Trail ride was well graded with ups and downs. The bridge crossings were scenic and the signs very informative!!!

Going from Whitetop to Damascus is gorgeous. It is all down hill and a very relaxed fun ride. Lots of fields ridges and forest setting to see. Worth it for sure.

Beautiful trail that's well kept and we'll used as well. Many different towns to stop in for lunch or a drink. Shopping as well. Different rental outfitters to rent bikes as well.

The weather is tricky this time of year. The top of the trail can be 25 degrees and you get into Damascus at 65. Be prepared.

An interesting, long ride downhill after a shuttle uphill. We rented bikes from Blue Blaze Bike Rental and Shuttle Services at $34 pp. The trail was quite busy on Sunday. One of our party slipped on a steep slope and took a bad fall. The fall occurred at access to the water on the right where large, smooth but uneven rocks and scrap metal girders are along the short path.

Got nervous because there was a little bit of peddling at the very beginning but the rest of the trail was pretty easy. Last little bit we had to peddle but not difficult. It was beautiful and a lot of fun.
