We had section hiked 52 miles on the AT and finished in Damscus. We were looking for showers before eating lunch. We were recommended this place by Mt Rogers Outfitters. This hostel has 2 showers and will let you use them for a small fee. The owner(?)/staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hostel was very clean and I would have a stay if hiking.

I stopped there to visit a friend hiking the AT, and the workers were awesome. The place was super clean and food within waking distance. I will be stopping there again when I hike the trail next year.

We stayed here during our Appalachian Trail thru hike. Bonnie, the owner, was super sweet. The rooms were a little pricey. And there’s only one bathroom that always had a long wait. It’s definitely more of a party vibe, but everyone went to bed at a reasonable hour. The location is convenient to food and shopping as well.

I am a thru-hiker on the AT, so finding the right place to stay is pretty important to keeping morale up on zero mile days. The Broken Fiddle was a great hostel, with a sweet owner (Miss Bonnie), great amenities, clean living quarters, and a hiker friendly atmosphere. We (a group of four) shared the big private room at the front of the building for $60. This comes to a very reasonable $15 per person for a bed, laundry, full access to a kitchen, coffee and cereal in the morning, and a shower. Bonnie made sure to check and see if we needed anything specific from the store, and even offered to drive us to the grocery. There is a dining area, patio area, and a movie/ game area. It’s kept clean and fairly well stocked with some food and bathroom amenities. I would definitely stay here again.

Bonnie the owner is great. The hostel is homey, and near most of the towns amenities. The bed comfortable! This is easily the best hostel Damascus has to offer. My only qualm was the bedroom needs double pain windows since its next to a busy street. Loud trucks pass by all night.

Spent a week healing my heels from my own Damascus dash at the Fiddle. Bon-E & Franco were AWESOME and the people staying there really bonded and made the place special, especially "House" aka "Switch". We made 3 community meals and enjoyed the fellowship of fellow thru hikers. 'Pancho Villa' & 'Red Robin' even kicked in a few bucks to help with the cost, good karma guys, thanks!

I loved this place; ended up zeroing here. Treehouse (the dude managing the hostel) does a good job running the place. Clean and inexpensive lodging option in Damascus.

Treehouse (host) was courteous, showed me bunks and showers etc. Place is well kept and clean. Prices reasonable. Just down the street from diner, wing place, etc.
